wow. such a bad word. well, you still hav to learn about the location of Onitsha an the dredging of the inland waterways to accommodate sea faring ships. the suez canal was not naturally able to accommodate large ships, but after dredging ,it became a major shipping route. use Google Earth and confirm the possibilities. then keep shut after you you done so.

Onitsha is NOT the owner of the River Niger there are many stake holders .You cannot dredge it without considering the impact in terms of flooding in Batelsa Rivers or Abia Ondo etc . Or loss ofs Livelihood elsewhere.even if a port is to be established why Onitsha why not Kwara or Kogi or Niger State? Its the water level in the Niger guaranteed non interference from international partners from its origin in Guinea. and other upstream nations?
Technically there is nothing similar between the Suez Canal and the proposed Niger dredging which by the way will not be permanent but will require recurrent dredging ad infinitum
