Hello People,
For those living abroad, please how do you prepare pounded yam? I mean the real yam not the processed one. I read you can use a blender or food processor. Please will it still come out very nice? Without seeds? I am thinking of travelling with my mortar because i dont eat the processed poundo but i am scared of paying for excess luggage because mortar can be heavy. Please help a sister

Unless you have a mortar and pestle, you are outta luck. A blender will only work if your intended end result is a watery paste. I normally blend cocoyam for bitter leaf soup which gives me the desired result though. Anyway, dispense with the real thing and go for powdered yam. It's easier, faster and less messy. Goodluck

You can make use of a food processor and it will come out nicely, no lumps or anything.
Saw it on dooney's Kitchen. Here's the link -

You can find mortar to buy. Instead of lugging one from Nigeria.

Food processor works too.

Food processor works excellently. I don't like the flour one so I prefer to use real yam and get the food processor to do the hard work wink

Wow, there is lobster in badagry? Interesting. I see lobster, crab and a baby shark. Shark meat is not like fish, but like meat. Lol. Enjoy.
