Baba, since we are being austere in our federal spending, I suggest baba should just give each state 2 cows at subsidized rates

That is 72 cows, then 2 for Abuja, totaling 74,: all from his Daura farm

Then, states can provide funds for pepper, ororo, maggi, salt and the rest..

And Iya Ibadan , my office cook will handle that of Lagos, with her crew

Problem solved.. lobatan grin grin

Please what is wrong with us in this country? Instead of engaging in constructive criticism we turn to wedge war against each other with so much hate. Now how has this help the country.
By the way there is no person in Nigeria who doesn't know about Jonathan reckless spending and lack of leadership skills even a child born today can testify to that fact. I wish GEJ well

God bless Nigeria

Lol...it's funny when i hear things like this. He's the president and the OP is making it sound like he's being forced to sign the amount. Nobody can force him to sign squat. He want's to that why he did it.

I am sure you are aware that people spend according to their pocket.
2010 is surely different form 2015.
Does that still explain the margin between 6.6Bn and 70 millionhuh Let me do the arithmetic for you..The difference is six billion five hundred thirty million What will you call that difference? Inflation grin

Am opened to your opinion

All these rubbish na he dey vex me. What is the meaning of the word ''reluctant'' in that thread? Are we trying to tell us that Buhari is very careful or that he is extremely in love with this country? Or that Buhari is not in any any way generating body odour?

1)Some people will see this as change, but then come to think of it,70million on independence and 2billion 4 buhari's trip to the US nko?
2)Why will anybody compare 50yrs independence with d resthuh.check a marriage that has lasted 4 50yrs to knw Y it should be celebrated like dat
3)They are complaining jonathan this, jonathan dat but then after spending dat amount on independence, shebi ppl go still receive their salary at the end of the month?

See packaging...lol
what is reluctant about the approval.
does it mean that at the end of the day the fg account balance will remain the same.
as for those talking about 2010,that was special event with a lot of foreign dignitaries in attendance.
I have been in this country long enough to know that at the end of the day the real amount that is going to be spent will far exceed the said amount.
only time will tell.

Jonathan spent 10bn in 2010 to host 10 African head of states. You must be a kid that time but you can Google it.
You will have to provide credible links to the story with dates for us to confirm otherwise you are big fat LIAR!

Why should we even spend ? exactly what is 70m going to be used for?

You are asking how much does he want to use before ?..........The celebration is useless if at this age and time we still were we are.. let us just decorate eagle square, parades from all forces... president and who ever addressess the country. fire works. then we all go home.

I think the question you intend asking is: how much was used in 2014, 2013, 2012?
Which money do you think he will spend? When investors are pulling out. GET spent the money when it was available. And that's exactly would have done if the money is there.

Those hypocrites saying 70m is too much have no knowledge about the cost of logistics. You can help yourself to consult an expert in the field or better use the goggle so that you don't make a public show of your ignorance.
When you take a case study from an event planner planning for a mini reception you may as well have a clue.
Moreover PMB wasn't interested but exigencies has made him to conceed to the almost zero cost of the occasion as regards the value for money.
Don't mind the wailers. An average family spends about a million or more on a wedding, and we are talking about a country's celebration, and they are saying N70 million is is too much.

You just made me resent Jonathan a little more. N40million just for a stone!! And some people still have the presence of heart ot mention his name in public.

I think you need to create a separate thread for this.

Sorry to say, but you are a monumental fool. Your Oga took N40million just to lay a stone in memory of someone in commemoration of the same event.

Aren't you ashamed of yourself?? Don't you know just when to shove your fingers up your assshole and refrain from commenting??

70 million is just too low for independence day celebration.

From the 70, delegate will be host, decoration, other amenities. As an event planner, it's fucking too low.

Even some wedding av been opportune to work on cost close to 70 million let a lone a whole independent day celeb

10billion vs 70million.... and some people would still be asking where the change is.
Cos some ppl are just to dumb to understand d truth, nd to reason wit d avant-garde Nigerians DT indeed, Nigeria is on 2 new tings. I wonder why dis seemingly irredeemable wailing wailers kip wailing ova d sum of 70million naira? Isn't it way too litl a paltry sum compared to that which was spend on similar events during d GEJ administration? People shud reason wit dere heads nd not wit d soles of their feet.

Well the questions on my mind are
1.Who and who proposed the budget,
2. Who is the chairman of the committee to carry out the events.
3. Who and who will make up the four sub-committees grin
