I don't agree with this. You might not be perturbed if you plan that your pullets should not be laying by 19 weeks but it is an issue if you didn't. Its not helpful for the fellow who asked the question not to also get the right response and I believe he should answer the question raised on the weight of the bird. In addition can he tell us the breed of the bird he has stocked. This would allow a snap shot review of his posting.

It's ISA Brown from Merks Farm.

Just To Let You Know, There Are Birds That Lay By 16wks Now With No Side Effects Like Small Eggs Or Early Drop In Production. Technology And Genetic Manipulation Is Advancing.

I don't agree with this. A pullet that start laying at 17 wks and weigh 1.5kg is probably fat. Fat birds don't lay well. U have to follow feeding and body wt plan for ur breed.

Thats the simple truth. know of 2 farms (Dargrib & 0jaba)in Nasarawa State that stock from Max Farm. The birds started laying @ 16 wks and by 27 wks. the eggs are Extra large already selling @ 680 from the farm. Artificial light was not introduced till abt 70% production. The birds are doing over 90% now.

I read somewhere on this agric section of a herbal remedy for sick birds, since i did not want to introduce any form of antibiotics, I tried it and behold it was a magic!!! "Vmix" has ARRIVED for me @fnk. (Pawpaw leaves, guava leaves, ginger, aloe vera & moringa leaves) I couldn't get moringa leaves though. I pounded them, squeazed and mixed the water for them, by morning they where all running around looking for food. As a first timer it is an eureka. Hahaha. Try it and you will not regret it. Thanks to Nairaland for my success.
can this mixture work for birds closing eyes or reddish eyes..Thanks
Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by mecuzee(m): 10:42pm On Sep 22, 2015
Absolutely better than Topfeed. KBC 10 (50kg bag=N12,350) is a feed concentrate you mix with Soya beans and maize! Check previous posts.

Dear farmers in the house,

please my chicks(broilers) are dying at the rate of 1/day. they are 7days old and all necessary vaccinations have been administered. so far, I have lost 7 now.

I have discussed with some people and they said mine is good but will stop after a week(8days) with some advise such as 1. allow more space to avoid stampeding 2. ensure the heat is well regulated and evenly distributed 3. ensure proper vaccination.

kindly advise what should the trend be.

awaiting your urgent response.

There is no rule or norm that says they should die at a particular day for a particular period. Once all the precautions are observed,no qualms. Just disposed my 5 weeks old yesterday and the only 1 mortality I had was eaten by my dog. Give them vaccines at the due time ,follow all the precautions you have fore-listed and with God on your side you come out a good farmer.

I have waited for an answer on the weight of the puller which has not come till now. This suggests this farmer does not monitor the birds development. This is the only yardstick that could be used for such. Without proper management and monitoring against expected standard you can not get your birds to lay at the appropriate time this does not also translate to possibility of bigger eggs later in their life. my suggestion for you is that you need to learn the right way of raising DOC to POL.
