The rate at which we hear stories of fathers raping their daughters has become quite alarming....There isn't a day that goes by without reports of how a father has been having carnal knowledge of his daughter. Seriously, what is happening.. As I write this,I'm really pained.. These little children are getting demoralized.,what sort of lives will they live in future having gone through this sort of molestation at d hands of the one person they ought to repose total trust and confidence in??
They do not even do these with kids that are a bit grown up (not like that's acceptable anyway).All we hear about are assaults of 4year olds,5yr olds,7yr olds..even 2yr olds...Gracious Lord!!!
What's up with the fathers? Are they doing these things for some sort of ritual purposes?..Insatiable libido?..But,isn't that one of the reasons they have wives? Am I missing sth,have kids suddenly become sexually appealing?
The saddening part of the situation is that they most often go scot-free,without adequate punishment. The Federal Government's got to do sth real fast about this growing disgusting trend!

You beat me to it. I was just flipping through to see if anyone had addressed the colligation of men as paedophilia.

I take it to be an error on the OP's part or if deliberate then may I seize this opportunity to remind her that children sexual molestation is not limited to the girl child. Although more prevalent with men, some women also abuse their wards and other non-related minors.

However, I applaud the message and awareness she's creating that we should condemn this ugly crime against minors and rape generally.

I don't have time for explanations, but as far as Nigeria is concerned, these things could only happen for two reasons:

1. Mental illness

2. Superstitious beliefs.

I'd associate the first point with underdevelopment, and the second with illiteracy - which also stems from underdevelopment.

So if you want to see things change, study hard, meet influential people, make good money, become an influential woman, champion a cause, and quit generalizing.

Well, we blame the West for everything. It's easier that way than to accept responsibility for our misdeamenor and human's inherent flaws. It's always the other person's fault and not ours.

Just same way we fault them for gays and lesbianism practice which science has proven was in existence long before the advent of civilization.

These abhorrent behaviour have been with mankind and cut across race, religion and background but many have conveniently chosen not to admit it. The only difference between now and in the past (and the West) is because of the social media awareness and human/women right groups that have encouraged victims of sexual molestation to open up and not lock up in their shell.

So far,the police have just proved useless in curbing this and preventing reoccurrence.....I can't even imagine how the woman feels,first as a mother to a victimised child...nd then a wife to a demonic paedophile.... very painful..
