That is what a captain is. If Mikel was the most senior player, he would be the one to let the coach know that his actions were wrong. In as much as Enyeama made a mistake doing it publicly, it shows why he has the band. He is the captain of the team.

dozai:

No you are wrong. The coach has the sole right to select his captain. Musa was the captain in Tanzania and Niger game. The coach wanted him to be same for the congo game. Who is Enyeama to tell him who the captain should be. Was Mikel complaining Hell No. Was Elderson complaining?? Hell no, these 2 are senior to Musa in the team. Enyeama is wrong, lets call a spade a spade. The coach never said Enyeama is no longer the captain. Naija is too big for him, he can as well retire from SE who cares, others will step in and the merry go round continues. Mtcheeew.

Are you minding them? The same Oliseh who used Politics to drop the best goal keeper in the country during the Atlanta 96 Olympics. Emmanuel Babayaro was the best Keeper but Oliseh used his Mafia connection to drop the boy. Now Oliseh wants to claim St. Sunday.

I've been following some of your comments on this topic and i think you're being very sentimental about this issue.

I won't go into any of them though...But thisone that caught my eye.

Enyeama indirectly played a role in sia-sia's downfall and Nigeria's non qualification for the nation's cup for the 1st time in almost 30yrs.
Remember that Enyeama had a run-inwith Siasia which led to his suspension from the national team. If you remember vividly, DeleAiyenugba stood in goal for that ill-fated match against Guinea and the rest they say, is history.

He's also had attitude problems that has bedeviled his Super eagles career since the end of the World Cup. Apparently, he said that he"needed some time off" to think about is nationalteam career as he felt that he'd endured enough"..whatever that meant.

But since e returned tothe eagles, he's seemed toget himself intomore trouble than usual; Remember, he once refused to submit himself To be queried by the disciplinary armof the Nff for his vitriolic comments about the Kaduna Stadium debacle and even allegedly tore up the letter sent to him.

Long story short.. Enyeama's heart isn't in te National team anymore. He's been looking for an excuse to quit the National team for some time now. I guess we can give him our goodbyes as he's given us years of meritorious service.

However, records are meant to be broken too. Heck, if care ain't taken, Musa might even equal his record as he's already amassed a respectable number of caps even though he's only 22-23years old (I think).

So whether Enyeama leaves, or Oliseh leaves.. Super Eagles will still remain Naija's foremost National Team..whether we like am or not.
Re: Oliseh Vs. Enyeama And The Impending Doom by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:53am On Oct 08, 2015
From what I deciphered from Enyeama's messages, he was frustrated with the way the members of the NFF ran the Super Eagles. From lack of bonuses to sacking of coaches like Sylvanus Okpala during the AFCON. Keshi coached the qualifiers without a contract etc.

As the captain, Enyeama resisted the urge to go against the members of the NFF. Their Summon was the last straw before he snapped.

As for Enyeama's reaction. Remember he was grieving and in pain. It must have fueled his reaction.

I understand where you're coming. From yet, there's also a reason why you're professional footballer.

Mikel's Dad was kidnapped yet it didn't stop him from turning out in chelsea's colors In a match he performed creditably well too.

The whole carade actually boled down a breakdown in communication between Enyeama and the Coach.

Nothing stopped Enyeama from intimating Oliseh about his late arrival to camp. Personally..i.e if I were in enyeama'sshoes, I wouldn't have planned the burial so close to an International match I intended to honor. I mean, why didn't I not plan it on any other weekend with permission from Lille afterall Lille pays my bills or don't they?
In another vein, after the funeral service on Friday, and also with an intent to beat the Monday deadline, I would have shunned the thanksgiving service on Sunday and reported to camp immediately after the Furneral service...Afterall, my absence will not be too missed by my family especially if I have siblings to stand in for me.

I said Oliseh used his mafia influence to drop Emmanuel Babayaro. Did I say he had more influence than these guys? So where did you deduce that from.

Also, what made Dosu a better replacement? Dosu was never better than Babayaro and Babayaro would have done better being the naturally better goalie. Remember in the semi finals and finals, Dosu conceded four goals. Talk of better replacement. I am talking of injustice, you are talking another thing.

Grieving or not, keep your boss informed of your plans and whereabouts especially ina a case whereby you're a pivotal member of the company.

As per the Lille games and Friendly matches scenario..i honestly dunno exactly where/what you're getting at.

We are not talking about Enyeama. We are talking about Dosu and Emmanuel Babayaro. Emmanuel Babayaro was always the better Goal Keeper. The number one pick and Oliseh made him lose his opportunity to show himself to the world.

That also made the team a bit weaker. It was wrong.

First off, I want all Nigerians to forget about qualifying for AFCON 2017, it won't happen with this rift.

Oliseh was wrong on all counts in this rift. The last player you should ever attack is the pillar of the team, the head capo, ask Didier Deschamps what Anelka did to him. Why pick on Enyeama? Enyeama has loyalists in that team that can and will rebel against Oliseh until he loses that job and they prove he was never meant to be a coach. Oliseh is displaying an arrogance he hasn't earned considering he's won nothing of note as SE coach.

And making Musa captain? Who will take orders from Musa? Is it Mikel, Emenike or the ousted Enyeama? Does Musa look like a leader? Apart from his scrawny nature, how old is he? Someone who can't even speak up when he's wronged, how will he speak on behalf of his team mates?

The only place Oliseh's myopic decisions will take he and that team is down. I just want him out ASAP cuz he's apparently not The Chosen One to bring sanity to our football.

Safarigirl dey Vex..i concur with..it was a pointless rift..give to Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser

That you're @ home burying your mum does not mean that the affairs of the team should be kept on hold until you arrive.

The super Eagles is a professional setup with set goals inmind, to prosecute, win and also fine-tune strategies for te teams upward change in fortunes.

Hence, courtesy entails that you communicate wit the coach aboutyour absence officially as a show of respect to your boss and your teamates. Nothing stopped Enyeama form saying.."bros, shey u know say I dey attend thanksgiving on sunday and Monday na deadline, abeg, allow me make I arrive on tuesday..biko"
Finish!

Which person won't grant that sort of request?

Instead, he strolls into camp on Tuesday, the day after the deadline and instead of comporting himself as one who's erred on the side of judgement, he's having a tete a tete with some other fella right in the middle of the team's meeting.

If you're the coach..wont you be pissed..

Especially coming on the heels of Mikel Obi's wahala only a few. Month's back that had to dowith this same issue of not keeping in touch with your national team coach as at when due?

Abeg, I'll be madpissed if iwere in oliseh's shoes cos it'll mean that these two captains just planned to take my authority for a ride afterall!

Your flipping the story to make Enyeama look guilty. The fact is that Oliseh knew his captain traveled to bury his mother. His captain arrived a day late. What stops the coach from discussing with his captain? Why drop him without an explanation from his captain.

Enyeama's manner of reaction was at ng but it does not change the fact that Oliseh dealt the legend a heavy blow. A wicked one.

I dont believe that.

The club can allow Enyeama decide to bury his mum anytime he likes.

It's his Mother.

There's nothing wrong in missing a match to attend to family issues afterall, some players are exempted from playing important matches cos their spouses were in the labor room.

When I talked of Dosu getting an unfair position over the number one Olympic Keeper because Oliseh influenced it, was that Enyeama? Whether Dosu faced Maradona or Pele, it does not change the fact that because of Sentiments, Oliseh dropped the better Goal Keeper because he wanted to repay a favor to Dosu. That is wrong. If you can not see a wrong in terminating the position of someone that worked hard for it to give to someone who does not merit it because of repaying favor, then I wonder what is right to you.

Yes or no. Do you think Oliseh was right to make them drop a team's number one keeper because he wanted to repay a friend?

What was his career highlight compared todosu?.. an under 17 tourney he kept in three years before? Oh.. because he kept during the qualifiers enroute Atlanta, u think e was good?

Besides...what club did he play for if he was actually as "good" as you say he is?

Oliseh made Bonfrere drop me for Dosu at Atlanta ’96 —Babayaro

Atlanta ’96 Olympic gold medalist, Emmanuel Babayaro, talks about his time as a footballer and his sojourn into the entertainment industry in this interview with ’TANA AIYEJINA

You were first choice for the U-23 team ahead of the 1996 Olympics but coach Bonfrere Jo dropped you for Dosu Joseph when the competition began in Atlanta. What happened?

Dosu is my brother and whatever I say now won’t change anything. A problem I had with Bonfrere caused it. There are certain actions you take as a youngster and you are not guided. I will speak as I felt at that time based on my maturity and intelligence. I had been the first choice all through; I kept all the games we played before the Olympics.

I’ll say what I thought happened. Sunday Oliseh was very influential in the team and Bonfrere had a lot of respect for him. Oliseh is like a brother to Dosu; Dosu was influential in making Julius Berger sign Oliseh before he moved to Europe. At the time, Dosu was to sign for Reggiana and what stopped him was a national cap. Everybody in the team was very good. So, when Oliseh tried to influence Bonfrere (to use Dosu), it was easy because whoever was in goal, would do well. Before our first match, Bonfrere called me to his room; Musa Abdullahi and Willy Bazuaye were there. You can enquire from them what I am about to tell you. This is what he told me and I quote, “Due to reasons best known to me, I’ll prefer to use Dosu. I don’t owe any player for inclusion and exclusion from the team.” He said he owed me that much because I was mentally and physically prepared. I felt slighted as a young man and I asked him, “If performance is criteria for being in the first team, have I failed in this regard?” He said, “No.”

I am not going to lie to you, I started insulting him. I told him to go to hell. Tijani Babangida got wind of what happened and he said it was for team interest. He was privy to what was happening. I called Dosu to my room and told him, “I want you to know that I will never hate you and undermine you in any way. I want you to know that I am human but my anger won’t be directed at you but Bonfrere. If I were in your shoes, I will take the chance too but I have everything against the coach.” He was okay with my explanation and we sat together after every game to analyse his performance. He told me to help him out in areas of improvement.

After the Olympics, Sani Toro told me that Bonfrere told him that I was the best keeper but he kept me out because I was not disciplined. There are no hard feelings. I did what I did because of what I was at the time. If it was now, I wouldn’t have reacted the way I did then. I use these experiences to train my players now.

It seems you're either not getting me or u just want to argue for the fun of it.

Look..inmy 2nd comment of this particular topic, I said that the main factor in this whole brou-ha-ha is a communication Lapse.

Simple.

There was a breakdown of communication channels between Enyeama and Oliseh.

I said that Enyeama as an act of courtest needed to intimate Oliseh about his plans for the furneral especially as it relates with arriving late to camp!

It doesn't matter whether Oliseh heard about enyeama's mum's passing through the radio or from rumours or what have you; what is necessary is that Enyeama as a mark or respect to his Boss needs to call him and intimate him OFFICIALLY!!!

Ok what if Enyeama arrived unnannounced on the day of the Match nko and demands to play, u mean Oliseh should allow him free reins cos "he's just buried his mum and he the captain and he's trying to show his patriotism for the National team bla-bla-bla..." even after jeopardising earlier mapped out training strategies and drills mapped out by the back-up Goalie, Ikemme with the defensive backline?

Sigh!

Man... its not right and it won't be right.

As I said. Making up things. Enyeama did not arrive the day of the match. He missed a training session. Stop making excuses to justify the wrong. Oliseh knew he traveled to pay his last respect to his mother. Stop using official as excuse.

If you believe Lille can exempt him for an important match, why can't Oliseh exempt him from a training session?

It seems you're either not getting me or u just want to argue for the fun of it.

Look..inmy 2nd comment of this particular topic, I said that the main factor in this whole brou-ha-ha is a communication Lapse.

Simple.

There was a breakdown of communication channels between Enyeama and Oliseh.

Okay then... since you've given me proof of what happened in detail, i'll beckpedal a bit on some of my earlier remarks.

But also..answer these few Questions..,

1.Don't key players refer colleagues to the National Team Coaches all over the world?

2. Who had the final say in manning the sticks... Oliseh, or Bonfere

3. Did the move pay off well for everyone IN THE END..by that, I meant.. Oliseh, Dosu and the National Team @ Large...and hey..even Emma BabaYaro too.

(I mention babayaro cos that singular move showed a very big flaw that perhaps might have played an important role in why his career and that of his more famous Brother ended so abruptly...that of Discipline)

I mean.. check am out in the long run... that move paid off immensely @ the end as far as everyone is concerned (bar you expectedly).
Re: Oliseh Vs. Enyeama And The Impending Doom by TheGoodJoe(m): 3:59am On Oct 08, 2015
Whether we performed well or not is not the issue. The issue is Oliseh supported an unfair move. The Atlanta '96 tourney would have propelled a great keeper. Without Oliseh's action, there would not have been an episode of Emmanuel abusing his seniors.

That was wicked and unfair. So I can not jump on the Oliseh bandwagon because I know he did it and can do it again.

During the AFCON 2013. The anchor of the show told Oliseh to wish Stephen Keshi Happy Birthday and Oliseh refused. The anchor pleaded but Oliseh refused. The anchor said I do not know what is going on with Oliseh and wished Keshi happy birthday.

I wondered what kind of man is this.

Enyeama is a legend of the Super Eagles. He deserves better. He is a broken man because he was one player that understood what it meant to wear the Super Eagles jersey. I wish Enyeama the best because he has done enough to remain a legend forever in the hearts of Nigerians.

OFFICIAL IS NOT AN EXCUSE!!!!

This term is one of the main reasons why naija/african players have problems wit their clubs because we assume that the club hierarchy should be in the know of a player's personal problems and cry racism when the club weilds the big stick.

Take for example Isaac Success's problems and the reason he was benched for the better part of the 2nd half of his 1st season in granada.

It's almost exactly the same issue were talking about here.

Isaac travelled to naija for the xmas hols during the Christmas break in the la liga.

Just before he was supposed to return to Granada, his Grandfather died. He was heartbroken. The news media carried the news.

Success had to stay behind to look after the burial arrangements. And in the end, he arrived the club later than expected.

What did Granada do?

They FINED HIM AND STRIPPED HIM OFF HIS FIRST TEAM SPOT!!!

OYIBO's don't roll that way.

Who knows, they might have been in the know but they didn't send!
Why?
Success Didn't go through the official lines!

U see.. thaat singular gaffe also played a major role in Success's bit part role in the last U-20 tournament cos he ended up becoming the Last player to arrive camp cos the poor boy didn't wanna run foul of his club anymore.

Man!... if you won't see reason as to why enyema should be apportioned a measure of blame for his antics then so be it. No need arguing about this anymore. It'll do neither of us any good anyway. Instead, we'll both be murdering sleep for absolutely nothing.

You be cool.

Cheers bruh.
