You train your bf/gf how to treat you by the way you treat yourself. You command respect without demanding it when you have regards for self-respect. The way people see diamond is not the same way they see pebbles even though they look at them with the same very eyes.
Now this is my rule of thumb and I wish we all would imbibe it: I will treat every woman/man the way and manner I'd want my daughters/sons to be treated.
