If they wanted to stay? Lolz, Mother Russia couldn't even afford to pay them anymore. Britain did not want a unified Germany because it was in British interest not to have a strong Germany but it was inevitable.

If a verbal agreement is the same as written agreements between nations why do they have treaties then? What is the point? I am pretty sure i never said America did not occupying lands. I was only giving you examples of Russia's imperialism too.

The Empire died after the Suez crisis. It was on life support after 1917 and has been buried long time ago. The British state is now a junior partner in the Anglo American alliance. There is nothing to be ashamed about since Britain had a good run. Admin Headquarters are usually in the capital yes? Florida and Texas are the key states to the US space program is it not?

But you'd admit that Gorbachev could have crushed them if he wanted, yes? So they left voluntarily.

The empire became born-again - ask ya pastor loool. Anyway, the same reason why London, a city founded by the Romans with the tower of London became the capital of the UK when the British empire became imperial, with the Roman empire living through the new empire - is the same reason why the DMV axis built by King George became the center of US imperialism with the British empire living through it. Ever wondered why almost every place in that axis is named after a place in the UK? Then you have got all the most important universities/colleges in America located in places named after cities/towns in the UK. Do you think it's just merely coincidental? lipsrsealed

So the junior partner is the one with the bastardised borrowed language, while the senior partner lives through it. And since I've done a great job to break it down for you - would you still call the presence of USAF in the UK an occupation? grin

Well he couldn't even hold his country together how can he crush anything in a foreign country? The Empire was born again inside your head lol. You had a good run but THE END is always inevitable. Your King George conspiracy might be true but i am not buying it.

Just like your google map, but in high resolution and real time smiley

The DSP system is old (I believe around 40 years) and they've created like 4 generations after that.

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the latest one they're using but it allows them to monitor battlefield missile launches in real time (with or without ground radar) with accuracy down to mm.

Down to the mm you say?! How incredible! A system so sophisticated that it can measure from a remote location down to the mm!

Ok then, can the US provide the location and these so called high resolution images of where these 4 missiles crashed and please note that it MUSTN'T be accurate down to the mm. A few meters in deviation will suffice? grin

You are hilarious!

For all those praising Putin, remember he also has his agenda which is to keep his fiend Assad in power and maintain Russian influence in the region.

Everyone of the super powers involved here have their agenda and the elimination of ISIS unfortunately is secondary to that. What pains me the most is it's the ordinary Syrians who will suffer the mot not Russians or Americans.

One thing I worry the most about with Putin's arrogance of firing missiles across countries air space such as Iran etc is one little mistake and he can trigger a war. Imagine if an Isreali, Turkish or Iranian jet or city is mistakenly hit, what do you thin will happen? Very dangerous games he is playing.

While it is easy to say Putin is taking action against ISIS etc, the question is is he really taking action against ISIS or against opponents to Assad?

For those saying they admire Putin etc, be careful who you wish to be.

Edit: I just saw this article about Turkey shooting down a Russian jet. It's not confirmed and I hope it's not true as it could quickly spiral out of control. Imagine it was true and Russia retaliate and Turkey retaliate and it just spreads.

There are quite a few factions fighting in Syria.

From a super power perspective, the attached picture should give some insight into the conflicting objectives of the US, Russia, Iran etc.

Regarding who is ISIS and Assad's enemies, this started after the Assad government started cracking down on protesters during the Arab spring. The crackdown led to some Syrians breaking away from the Syrian army to form the free Syrian movement against Assad who took power after his father died after ruling for 30 years.

That's one faction who the US support. Then you have Al Queda who started fighting in Syria as they felt Assad was targeting Sunni Muslims. The Al Queda group in Syria split away to form ISIS - Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

Then you hezbollah also involved as well as the Kurds who have always felt ostracised.

As you can see its not as simple as kill them all, they are all ISIS.

Honestly when people rant Russia will overthrow USA in terms of combat, I Shake my head.

Here is a comparison between Russia SU-30SM and the almost outgoing America F22 Raptor during this current ISIS crisis

Russia has deployed at least four advanced Sukhoi Su-30SM Flankers to its base near Latakia, Syria. The jets are the latest in a series of Russian deployments to the war-torn Arab nation that includes tanks, armored personnel carriers, heavy artillery and a sizable infantry contingent.

While Russian forces in the region are probably there to support Bashar al-Assad’s beleaguered regime against ISIS, without careful coordination with U.S. and allied forces operating in the region, there is a real danger of an inadvertent confrontation. That is why U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter made sure to call his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoygu to make certain that U.S. and Russian forces don’t accidentally find themselves in conflict. “The secretary and the minister talked about areas where the United States and Russia's perspectives overlap and areas of divergence,” states a Pentagon release. The timing of the call was slightly awkward because the Flankers showed up in Syria just hours after the conversation.

For Russia, selecting the Su-30SM for the Syrian operation is a logical choice. The aircraft can carry a hefty payload and it has excellent range. Moreover, it offers the flexibility to carry out air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. That means it doesn’t need a separate fighter escort. Further, the aircraft has a second crewmember, which is helpful for complex missions. That’s why the U.S. Air Force’s F-15E Strike Eagle and the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18F Super Hornet, which are in many respects the Su-30SM’s direct analogues, have two aviators onboard.

While the Russian deployment is significant in shoring up the Assad regime, in the unlikely event of a confrontation with U.S forces, a handful of Su-30s would not last long against the overwhelming odds they would face. U.S. forces in the region have a host of advanced fighters available to them—the most potent of which is the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor. Moreover, the U.S. forces in the region far outnumber the Russian forces.

While the Su-30SM is a very capable fourth generation fighter, it stands no chance against the Raptor—especially in a beyond visual range engagement. Purely on hardware terms, the Raptor has an advantage on every metric except range and payload. The F-22’s combination of stealth and sensors means that the Russian aircraft would likely be destroyed before they had any idea they were being targeted. During regular training exercises in the United States, a group of four F-22s will have to practice against as many as twenty “enemy” aircraft in order to get any useful training accomplished.

Source: http://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/russias-su-30sm-vs-americas-f-22-stealth-fighter-syria-who-13895
My brother, war no be moi moi o. What makes you think the Russians don't have an answer to the F-22? Advance radars makes stealth technology-based fighters obsolete. It is similar stealth plane fighter of the US the Serbs shot down with an outdated SAM. How about that for thought?

You'd agree with me that a lot of Poles were nazis themselves, hence the highest number of Jews were killed on Polish soil and Polish Jews were the most affected Jews during holocaust. Poland itself also tried to annex part of Czech's territory and Belarussia. And wasn't war mongering US president Franklin Roosevelt the reason why negotiations between Poland and everyone failed? Didn't the Poles also kill tons of ethnic Russia in Belarussia? Still right side of history for defending folks who're ethnically part of ya country against aggression.

Every student of history who has been able to study the events that led to world war 2 objectively knows that Hitler started the war as a war of necessity, due to The Treaty of Versailles, then went overboard. And the Soviets weren't the only ones - Stalin signed non aggression pact with Hitler, just as both the UK and France tried to sign the same non aggression pact with Germany. The only difference is that both failed. The Treaty of Versailles started world war 2 and Stalin might be right. How many civilian planes have the US shot down for no reason? Too many to count. Heck, even the one they claimed was shot down by Libya, Pan Am Flight 103, was most likely shot down by the US or they planted explosive on the plane cos it was a false flag. And MH17 was shot down by the rogues in Kiev supported by the US. Not saying Russia doesn't do any wrong - but come up with better examples. RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY vs. WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY.

But Khrushchev did defend Egypt from foreign invasion, while the US supported the invasion, no? Whatever he did in Hungary has no bearing here since Hungary back then was part of the Eastern bloc, since the US did the same all over Latin America during the same period.

I honestly don't think most folks care about the US too tough to envy the country apart from African American culture - mostly via music and urban fashion - sports, and Hollywood. The US just likes to get people talking with unnecessary killings and bombings everywhere. When bombs go off anywhere, you know the yanks are there. Why? Can't we live in peace on the planet cos some new country by virtue of the old cultures self-destruction got hold of some fancy big toys and decided to start disturbing the peace of everyone everywhere?

I shall leave you with words from George Kennan, the great American hero, before he passed away (R.I.P Great man):

His voice is a bit frail now, but the mind, even at age 94, is as sharp as ever. So when I reached George Kennan by phone to get his reaction to the Senate's ratification of NATO expansion it was no surprise to find that the man who was the architect of America's successful containment of the Soviet Union and one of the great American statesmen of the 20th century was ready with an answer.

''I think it is the beginning of a new cold war,'' said Mr. Kennan from his Princeton home. ''I think the Russians will gradually react quite adversely and it will affect their policies. I think it is a tragic mistake. There was no reason for this whatsoever. No one was threatening anybody else. This expansion would make the Founding Fathers of this country turn over in their graves. We have signed up to protect a whole series of countries, even though we have neither the resources nor the intention to do so in any serious way. [NATO expansion] was simply a light-hearted action by a Senate that has no real interest in foreign affairs.''

''And Russia's democracy is as far advanced, if not farther, as any of these countries we've just signed up to defend from Russia,'' said Mr. Kennan, who joined the State Department in 1926 and was U.S. Ambassador to Moscow in 1952. ''It shows so little understanding of Russian history and Soviet history. Of course there is going to be a bad reaction from Russia, and then [the NATO expanders] will say that we always told you that is how the Russians are -- but this is just wrong.''

One only wonders what future historians will say. If we are lucky they will say that NATO expansion to Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic simply didn't matter, because the vacuum it was supposed to fill had already been filled, only the Clinton team couldn't see it. They will say that the forces of globalization integrating Europe, coupled with the new arms control agreements, proved to be so powerful that Russia, despite NATO expansion, moved ahead with democratization and Westernization, and was gradually drawn into a loosely unified Europe. If we are unlucky they will say, as Mr. Kennan predicts, that NATO expansion set up a situation in which NATO now has to either expand all the way to Russia's border, triggering a new cold war, or stop expanding after these three new countries and create a new dividing line through Europe.

And what was America's response? It was to expand the NATO cold-war alliance against Russia and bring it closer to Russia's borders.

Yes, tell your children, and your children's children, that you lived in the age of Bill Clinton and William Cohen, the age of Madeleine Albright and Sandy Berger, the age of Trent Lott and Joe Lieberman, and you too were present at the creation of the post-cold-war order, when these foreign policy Titans put their heads together and produced . . . a mouse.

We are in the age of midgets. The only good news is that we got here in one piece because there was another age -- one of great statesmen who had both imagination and courage.

As he said goodbye to me on the phone, Mr. Kennan added just one more thing: ''This has been my life, and it pains me to see it so screwed up in the end.

http://www.nytimes.com/1998/05/02/opinion/foreign-affairs-now-a-word-from-x.html

^^^The great man died bitter cos of the nutters who took over the US foreign policy from the Clinton era, and the same nutters are still in-charge

all the missiles the OP was talking about were directed at static location and targets. 15% (up to 20% in some reports) failed to reach their destination even those that got "there" could be miles off.

The difference between Russian and USA is that Americans acknowledge their mistakes while the Russian would keep a long tin poker face.

I hear you. Russia indeed do have a better strategy in Syria

Point is, The US navy have moved far beyond hitting static targets with cruise missiles and have successfully tested synthetically guided Tomahawk missiles that can hit moving targets, alter its course toward the moving target after receiving position updates from surveillance aircraft/drones. They can even loiter over a target area. When Russia have the capability in 2056, Let me know cool.

The only area Russia can even dream to compete with the US navy is with submarines. Most Russian naval surface ships are old soviet legacy relics. They are modernizing however i will give them that.

S300 is a fascinating piece of technology but USAF wont even break a sweat penetrating it. There are advanced Miniature Air-Launched Decoys that can render it obsolete if it is integrated with Joint Standoff Weapons like AGM-154 and advanced Anti-Radiation missiles. A comprehensive USAF Iron Hand operation will amaze you.

Russia's military quality is impressive but very limited.
