I am enjoying every bit of your posts today, including that of haywhy911. I know absolutely nothing about Optometry until this year when I applied to Unilorin. And I saw the department in school because I had to walk round the school and made sure I saw my faculty building immediately after my pume exams. I love Unilorin, the atmosphere is inspiring and once more again I gbadun your posts but it's funny I dare not do the same about my course. Admission lo sure ju!

In a queue, if u are supposed to be at d back but came to d front, dat is shunting. For example, if u are at d back in a queue and d queue is too long but u have a friend that is in d front, u will go and stay in ur friend's side so dat u will be quickly attended to..Dat is shunting..Note: We use to have so many long queue in unilorin ooo, so go and learn shunting..lol

Hello.. I know I don't really post stuffs here..But I wld like to give you a good advice or should I say im gonna give you the difference between living outside and living in school
1. living in school gives you less stress about transportation but staying outside school is an everyday hustle for transport (You won't wanna be on a 3 hours queue after a long day )
2. living outside school can be scary at times but staying in school is being 80% secure
3. living in school gives you more time to spend in night class WITH COMFORT (when you are tired, you can simply go to your hostel )but when you stay outside school, you have only two options (either staying till the next day in school or go home before 12pm)
4. There's GOOD electricity in school but outside school can be frustrating at times when it comes to electricity
5. There's no doubt that you would be so free outside school (you can have parties in your room, your Bf ,friends or gf can sleep over )But it's not allowed in school
6. For example, during exams when you have a paper by 8-10 and your next paper is by 4-6, you would really wish you were staying in school
I'm Darasimi and I rep food science #200lvl, I love the private hostel in school!i stayed there last session, staying there again for sure #kamabioyehostel

Reasons are like 100 to 1 .. Before i say anything, remember there are 2 Classes of hostels.
a) The Boys Hostel
b)The Babes Hostel
under the boys hostel we have
i) The Commoners( Cheap)
ii) Post Graduate Hostel(Very Very Expensive)

Under the Babes hostel we have
i) The Commoners(Cheap)
ii) V.I.P(Expensive)
iii) V.V.I.I.P(Very Expensive)
iv) Post graduate Hostel(Very Very Expensive)

1) stay on campus and see people tag u as a serious student, always assuming u attend the schl library on a regular.. but the truth is that you would be more serious and focused when u stay off K. Dnt ask me how

2) Your space; very important for a student to have..your space entails your privacy, your ability to shut the door to any disturbances and distractions. but on Campus, it is nearly impossible.. balls dangling everywhere, guys chanting "Up Enyinmba, Down Chelsea" in the waiting room .

3) Your Comfort : Live off K and your comfort depends on your pocket.. live on K and its totally a different thing. Firstly you get the Gay Joy of staying in a room filled with 4-8 Boys all wearing boxers..dangling stuffs all over the place. . Secondly if you could afford the Commoners.. you will live in a filthy environment..the toilets are bad and filthy, the rooms are old and Rusty, your stuffs get stolen on a regular, You sleep on a filthy bug infested bunk bed. How cool is that ? No TV.. No fridge..No Personal Kitchen ..just A poor environment for you to enjoy.

4) No Visitation Palava: This is still the worst of all.. You cant receive visitors, They all wait in the common room where Most guys Chant Up *** .. Imagine you have a babe that wants to visit you...

Actually, I'm only interested in one lady, I'm just teasing the rest of 'em. Good A.M bro.

if you are loaded with cash; the private hostel in school goes for 90k(it has more privacy than the general hostel.)
The general goes for 28k(last session).
*In school hostel : you can visit the Library easily, more stable electricity, access to Lecture theatres more easily, no transport fee, and lesser stress and so on. you tend to be more focused if you are a serious type.
Tutorials-- its more convinient for one to attend tutorials easily, even on Saturdays that some lecturers recommend lectures,(though not always).
* Off-campus- freedom to do anything you like, you can set your room the way you like, though with stress in getting to school( transport ish---depends on your plan), you dont need to pack out after the end of the session. It allows you to welcome visitor in a more convinient way.(if you are more of a social type).
In Summary, from my own perspective; school hostel is more better provided you will keep your things well secured.

good n bad side of staying off campus

the bad side which can also be a good one when you finally leave the four walls of the university

- We used to have little supply of electricity, but since the new administration came to power the supply of electricity is now better
- About the security issue, this is Nigeria not Canada
( na baba God dey protect us )
- About transportation - d only day you can stay up to
1 - 2hours and not get a cab is on monday morning or evening ( that is if you are not lucky )
- lots of distraction you are free to do what you like nobody to stop you ( but you know why you are here )

this bad side is actually preparing you for the future

the private school hostel is quite expensive for everyone to afford

the public school hostel is very cheap - after a session you pack ur things out
( you go into another battle for hostel booking )
...
at the end of the session , some students staying in the school hostel with plead with those staying of campus to drop some of their load with them - ( boarding house kinda thing )
....
for the ENTREPREMINDED
staying off K will b d best for u
ur business partner from another state or country may want to pay a visit
ur bae self
accommodation don set bdat

Laffz..Unilorin is supposed to be beta by stress and not beta by far..Dere is notin that u will want to do and u wont queue.. If u want to withdraw money, u will queue, if u want to go to school or go back home u will queue, if u want to do ur freshers registration u will queue, if u want to write test or exam u will queue e.t.c.. I will advice u to learn how to shunt bcuz it will help u alot.
