Ok let me explain something to you. Facebook founder is as rich as he is because of the TRAFFIC facebook pulls. Over a billion people. But facebook in itself doesn't generate revenue. If you open Facebook on your system or laptop you will see ADVERTS on the right hand side of the FB page. Every time somebody clicks on any advert, walla! Money enters that person's pocket. Linda is Nigeria's biggest blogger with over 1.5million people visiting EVERYDAY! Different blue chip companies noticed this contacted her to have her advertise their products on her blog at a very attractive rate, (translating to tens of millions a month)Have you noticed how when you open her blog you will see different company products that look attractive and eye catching??

I hear you. U can't compare facebook with linda comon blog.....her blog sef these days de dry...which juju she deuse....na only those adverts from companies iknow she de take chop 40milla a month haaaaaaaaaaaa big lie

Please don't get me wrong I never said she or any one does not give to the poor.

I only expressed how I felt about the having cash enough and been a blessing to others period.

And for your statement in bold, I don't need to be that rich to understand when Solomon says its all vanity at the end of the day.

Again am not accusing any one but just expressing what I feel about been rich and the state/condition of the average Nigerian out dir.

Not any accusation that any one gives or does not give to the poor.
You don't have to outrightly accuse her of not giving to the poor. Your assertion actually implies she doesn't. Maybe you should reread what you wrote earlier.

But moving forward Nigeria is full of people who die on a daily basis because of poverty, hunger, lack of shelter to mention a few.

I will not love to be so rich in the midst of poor people.

The question I always ask my self is what else.

After the big cars, what else.
After the big houses, what else.
After all the money, what else.

Nigeria needs a lot of help from us all.

But the feeling of giving back and to help others is a feeling I don't think money can buy.

^^^What does that imply?

I'll make my point clear again: The fact that people are dying on a daily basis on the account of poverty doesn't mean she's not helping the poor. My friend, no matter how much you have, you can't help everybody. There will always be poor people till Jesus comes.

It's high time we drop this balderdash. Because there are poor people, I shouldn't enjoy my money again abi? O ga oooo shocked

It'll interest you to know that amongst other charitable work she does, she recently launched an empowerment program to help empower young female Nigerians start up their desired business.

Allow the rich enjoy their money without bringing up this there-are-still-plenty-people-dying-of-hunger talk every now and then!!

That's her ACTUAL Net Worth. And your unbelief doesn't change the reality of linda's financial status. In fact, I was skeptical about it, just as you are, until I met some professionals who explained to me in detail. I was shocked just how much money one could make from blogging! And as for whether she bot a four bedroom bungalow in banana island or a whole mansion, that one doesn't concern me. I dunno the details of that. The one I know, I know.

Not possible. Those bloggers always exaggerate their net worth. How many adverts are featured on their blogs every month, and what is the value of each ad? How many followers does she have? Are they up to 2 million? If they had said maybe =N=100 million, then it might be possible.

You, i and millions of other Nigerians have travelled abroad at one time or the other. Its cool over there but there are places here that are more organised and better. I'd prefer 9ja anyday anytime, yankee is for holidays.

This has nothing to do with thinking outside the box. Naija is my country and will always be. Lemme put it like this,...
Abroad is for holidays, breaks and so on. I still prefer naija to any other country in the world. You may prefer some other country, thats your business. And please, stop quoting me. Just let this die down here.

So many haters!! May God forgive you all. The thing about Nigerians, when others are succeeding, we want to tear them apart and drag them in the mud. Instead of us to use her as inspiration.
I truly believe her net worth is 2. something billion naira, lots of people make millions from blogging, just google top earning blogs, u will hear of people making as much as 5, 10, 20 million dollar a year from blogging? e.g huffingtonpost.com

To me a successful woman is would be better off taking time to go into marriage or just to be single than to marry one yeye jealous man. one in two marriages end in divorce anyways.

P.S the dude named revolva is devastatingly ignorant as hell!!!

Actually, even though I do not support Revolva's choice of language, I do believe he has a point. Most bloggers in Nigeria over-hype their net-worth. What is the statistics on the number of followers that they have?? shocked How many hits a month do they get on their sites? What is their website traffic? What is the number of adverts they carry on their sites, per week? And what kind of revenue do they make from their ads? Don't forget that online ads cost a fraction of newspaper ads. A ThisDay Newspaper can charge over 500k for a full-page colour advert in one single edition, for example. But an online advert banner cannot command up to 60k for a month. cheesy

All these things are tracked and can be verified using different applications. Until I see hard core evidence pertaining to her website traffic and how much she earns per advert...am sorry, I cannot buy into that hype that she is worth 2 billion. undecided

If you had said a 100 million naira, I may have even said maybe....but that would even be stretching it by a long mile! I hope the tax man is watching all of Linda's moves and they would raise the proper assessment papers based on her suppossed net-worth! shocked

I get ur point though. But seriously just do the research. huffingtonpost, mashable, dailymail...these are all blogs that earn big money every year. We re talking dollar millions here. And I believe Lindaikeji is one example. Blogging is not as easy as it sounds though, in fact 50 percent of blogs dont earb, only 10;percent earn enough to pay the bills, other smaller bloggers include johnchow, neilpatek and so on. These people are earning a lot. Blogging is a business just like any other.

Hi, does Linda Ikeji have the same kind of readership or followership that Huffingtonpost, Mashable etc has? Does her blog command the same numbers and level of advert revenue that these blogs you mentioned, already have? Those are the salient questions. In Nigeria, the level of internet penetration is still quite low, compared with the USA, UK and other Western countries. undecided

The number of people and companies that sponsor online adverts are still far lower in volume than those abroad. As a blogger, it takes a lot of work, time and energy to build up a followership and to increase your web traffic. cheesy

While it may be easier for foreign bloggers to make money, it is not just as easy for Nigerian bloggers to monetise their sites. Please let us compare apples with apples. sad

I still got a call from a friend of mine who is also a popular blogger in Nigeria - in fact, one of the top 10 bloggers at the last ranking - and he was complaining about business being bad, and how one of the banks that used to advertise their product on his site recently pulled it down citing inadequate media budget. They had to cut back on their media budget due to this TSA directive that has affected the size of their deposits! undecided And he does not earn anything even close to 20 million per annum from his blog!
