Just thinking; if the proposed rise in electrical tariff will affect "transcorp" shares positively? |

Chibuking81:If you're to price Transcorp, what price will you place it on? |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 8:01pm On Oct 30, 2015 |
Youngzedd:The main reason is that other stocks are falling and transcorp will not be left behind but in other hand, I think the market is reacting to unimpressive Hi result of transcorp. market is factoring in the result and making price correction to reflect the true value. I think transcorp is still very expensive at the current price but investors are willing to buy at premium because transcorp stock is a growth stock which hold so much potentials |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 8:13pm On Oct 30, 2015*. Modified: 8:38pm On Oct 30, 2015 |
Youngzedd:Investors pay more for transcorp because of its inherent potentials but I think its true value must not be more than 1 naira. |

Saudi Arabia’s credit rating was cut by Standard & Poor’s , which said the decline in oil prices will increase the budget deficit in a country that relies on energy exports for 80 percent of its revenue. S&P cut the sovereign rating one level to A+, the fifth-highest classification, as it said the biggest OPEC producer’s deficit will increase to 16 percent of gross domestic product this year. The nation’s credit outlook is negative as the decline in oil prices makes it difficult to reverse the fiscal deterioration, S&P said in a statement. http://bloom.bg/1RDWsfH |

mercylicious:MAYBE THIS http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/flour-mills-explains-benefit-of-unicem-divestment/194557/ Group Managing Director, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc, Mr. Paul Gbededo has assured shareholders of the company that the sale of its 30 per cent equity investment in United Cement Company of Nigeria to Nigeria Cement Holding will benefit the company and enhance shareholders’ value. |

mercylicious:I have Flour Mills and will double holdings next week, the improvement in performance is not from their operations but proceeds from the sale of FMN shares in UNICEM. |

Youngzedd:Well, am not an expert and I don't use fa ( fundermental analysis ) most of the times. Just check up the book value of the coy. A formulae to calc bv have been posted on this thread many moons back. The lesser the price is from bV, the better. Some might be trading at 20%, 50% bv and are cheap, while othera trading above yhe bv are considered expensive. Growth stocks and stock with proven track performance are most times, priced ahead of their book value, stocks with consistent roe of more than 25% or more. The below is a personal method rough estimate of price of stock which I use. I get the EPs for the year, divide by two, then multiply by ten. ( 10% yield). If it is half year EPs that is available, I multiply by ten straight away. |

FMN is making profits divesting from other business Oando is recording losses acquiring other business. Lessons:Efficiency is the reason behind profitable business. The same reason why GTB is topping the financial services sector. |

ukay2:Open this links to grasp the basics 1) Earnings per share (EPS) is the portion of a company’s profit that is allocated to each outstanding share of common stock, serving as an indicator of the company’s profitability. http://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/070114/what-formula-calculating-earnings-share-eps.asp 2) The Price-to-Earnings Ratio or P/E ratio is a ratio for valuing a company that measures its current share price relative to its per-share earnings. http://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/price-earningsratio.asp 3) book value: A financial measure that represents a per share assessment of the minimum value of a company's equity. More specifically, this value is determined by relating the original value of a firm's common stock adjusted for any outflow (dividends and stock buybacks) and inflow (retained earnings) modifiers to the amount of shares outstanding. http://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bvps.asp Explore the above links and ge more detailed information including : PBT,PBT, retain earning etc. |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Ronkuns: 11:57am On Oct 31, 2015 |
Mpeace:Yes, excellent result in terms of profitability. But the cash position is weak with a negative cash flow of 28.6billion. At this rate, Cash dividend may not be feasible; another bonus issue may be cooking. But it may also be that the sales proceeds from Unicem disposal is in receivables. That be the case, the cash position will turn positive in the fullness of time. |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by SMC(f): 12:46pm On Oct 31, 2015 |
manie:Great analysis Emmanuel. Fabulous job. Might I add that when we add the dividends received of N1,418,430.00 (from 2000 till date) to the current value of the shareholding which would now stand at 214,500 shares (due to the 1 for 10 bonus announced for the 2014 financial year), the value for the shareholder becomes N2,512,380.00 (214,500 shares at today's price of N5.10 per share equals N1,093,950.00) which is over 25 times the initial sum of N100,000.00 invested in year 2000. If the shareholder had ploughed back all the dividends received into buying more FBNH shares over the years, the value gained and wealth accumulated by the shareholder would be significantly more/higher. So though the price of the FBNH stock has yoyo-ed over the years, the shareholder has really lost nothing of his investment put in originally. CAVEAT: This relates to investments made over the years and should not be deemed as a recommendation (or otherwise) by anyone. |
