Read the post again. Realistically, it's almost impossible to have 0% infidelity even the countries where people are stoned for infidelity still have those who will still cheat. However, a situation where men cheat so much that some think it's their right and with no consequences will have a higher percentage compared to where it is not acceptable and with consequences.

Are you sure about your stats? because In the US for example it didnt change anything. politicians, Athletes celebrities despite these knowledge still cheat on the same level with Nigerians

The only consequence appropriate for infidelity is the termination of the relationship by the aggrieved party. Any other measure is just sour grapes and an entitlement mentality speaking. Your husband fvcks around, leave him. Remove your greedy eyes from his assets if you didnt help him make it directly.

it won't.....
stop kidding yourself! even in countries where men stand to lose close to 70% of their net worth, infidelity still persists.

it was seen as very normal.
if it was hilary that cheated on bill clinton, they would have separated.

Like I said, it won't reduce infidelity to 0% but would reduce it and yes it did reduce the number of cheating men.

So we agree that it is appropriate for a cheating partner to be divorced. I am trying to see where the the entitlement issue came into this discussion.

Because I lived in both societies. The only difference is that they dont marry the other women legally like in the case of Nigeria that allows Polygamy

I'm seeing people advocate her not leaving empty-handed. She should leave with not more than she came with.

haba, this is way too mean! She is going through a rough time here, try to be more humane. There's absolutely no need for the name calling.Would you say this to your female relative going through a similar situation? The anonymity of nairaland shouldn't turn you into a verbally abusive person.
I am just pissed with people who think that marriage is just for fun.And no female relative of mine dare broach so topics with me! You claim you saw incriminating chat on his phone, you have not even discussed it with him the next thing is to come to nairaland and threaten divorce. She prefers strangers on nairaland to the man she once loved. Honestly, the Op is extremely silly!

There are some people that would never care about the consequences. The consequences for armed robbery in Nigeria is death yet we still have armed robbers. Would we as a nation now decide not to punish armed robbers because it has not stopped people from becoming armed robbers?

you are female and how many men would sit you down to discuss their escapades with you?

Would you expect John to sit you down and say "Hey babygirlfl, I'm seeing another woman" just like no woman would confide in me a guy that she's cheating

Statistically over 50% of marriages end in divorce. In most of these divorce cases the partners have already started seeing other women while the marriage was on.

Another 25% are still in marriages and are actively having affairs. Check Ashley madison for example

The only difference is they dont marry them legally unlike Nigerian where in some places polygamy is practiced

Using your example, Armed robbery. Nigeria would lynch them instantly when caught, America wont even kill them rather they put them in jail where they are given awesome meal and might even be eligible for parole

So i ask despite the consequence stiffer in nigeria than in US, which country is robbery more prevalent?

apples & oranges, mate!

robbery is a crime, infidelity isn't...... thanks to feminists like yourself that advocated a woman has the rights to do whatever she feels with her body......those rights also include shägging another woman's husband.

besides, your point is way off the mark. we were not arguing about punishment. all we said was that the consequences do not deter people from engaging in infidelity especially in the west.

Your post is all over the place. What, exactly, is your point?

Yeah I know... I lost my cool for a bit was just irritated by the mockery...

My point is, you don't have to be a woman to relate or identify with feminine problems. Just treat them as other "human" problems. Got that part? If yes, proceed to the next.

Equality in marriage or no equality, no body should be ridiculed for wanting out of a disrespectful union. Do you understand me now??

she does....
however, she made the mistake of putting the cart before the horse. the first step is to discuss the matter with her partner & see what he has to say to defend the accusation.

24 hours after discovering her hubby is seeing other chics, she ran to NL for advice after making up her mind to seek divorce without even letting her other half know what's up. is that how it's done in our village, madam cocoa? cheesy

Aww, I feel like a toddler again. *coo* Thanks for the "painstaking" explanation. But I still dont understand, but I'll attempt an answer.

She should use her brain and handle this matter like the adult she thinks she is.
