the OP had disappointed me....... I thought he was educated enough to know how audits report are written and collated..... but he had just made mockery of himself. so, all these happened just with the spate of 6months and the previous government shouldn't be blamed for the environment it created for this crises 1 Like |

Adminisher: The Nigerian economy has a lot of latent potential, inspire of inadequate power, see what we HV achieved. For the past five months d government HV not been carrying out capital expenditure, perhaps that will pick up with the swearing in of ministers. The govt plans 7-8 trillion naira budget with about 30% made up of capital expenditure, for the first time, this will be the highest capital allocation. The jump in d recurrent budget to me looks like there is going to be an increase in public sector job creation and other pallavatives as well. Churning out companies making loses is not typical of Nigerian alone and should also not be a surprise, the world economy is slowing down, China exports fell 19% last quarter, we who are mono dependent on oil are even doing well, from an all time high of $150-$45 per barrel, and we still standing! We should be asking what was achieved when oil was $150 per barrel. Recent events HV shown that we could even fund our budget without reliance on crude. Am also envisaging a situation where next year budget is not pegged around the price of crude rather taxes, customs target alone for this year is N944b, who says they can't do a N1.5trillion next year? Mtn fine sef will be used for finance the budget. Just that we are all in a rush .......my thoughts though 2 Likes |

Bollove: Will you continue to spew this trash when the MNC cut more jobs thereby worsening the already high unemployment; and who told you other so called "true investors" will be stupid enough to come into Nigeria when their colleagues are either shutting down or losing profit. FYI, the major cause of depreciating economy is that the present government isn't implementing budget or investing the little saved, help me name one single project that has been carried out so far by the Buhari administration. 1 Like |

gists: God bless you for saying making this known. How will they be able to reason when they're used to "business as usual" analogies. When GEJ conducted the most expensive election in d history of d country even with d crash of oil prices; they weren't thinking of d aftermath. All we hear now is Buhari is not moving d economy and other stuffs. 1 Like |

The current administration should understand that people are going impatient because of the current hardship faced in Nigeria but people also need to know that warnings were given in the last administration about future occurrence of economy crisis owing to the dwindling oil prices as the last administration squandered all our revenue for their personal gain. The south easterners has so far been the most impatient people and such attitude can ruin their intellect if care is not taken. The last administration did nothing despite the boom in oil sector yet they are saying GEJ my hero. Their approach to claiming biafra is un tactical, ill planned and disgraceful. If the current administration as time goes on fail to live up to Nigerians expectation, they will be voted out of power. 1 Like 1 Share |

@ Ikengawo, the basis for your assertion is wrong. companies audited financials are typically available between 3 - 6 months after their year end and covers a 12 month period, while this administration is barely 6months old. The information you are basing ur assertion on actually covers periods under GEJ (Jan - Dec 2015). However, GEJ can be held solely responsible for it, as it was an election period, hence a lot of companies suffered from market sentiments and insecurity that occurred then. That being said, Bihari hasn't handled our economy well either, but u can judge him by the performance of those companies 1 Like |

Ikengawo: I am sure you have genuine points as I also think the economy is rudderless at the moment. However you create a credibility issue when your f sy example is either a wilful lie it an ignorant statement. That virgin Atlantic comment was made over 8 years ago when branson was pulling out of the Virgin Nigeria venture. Also, the closure of the Nigerian office was simply a global restructuring of the company as they chose to keep only SA for Africa. The Nigerian crew was sacked because they no longer want country specific crews. It was not a nly Nigeria and has nothing to do with Nigerian economy. Having said that, Buhari needs to appoint an economic times urgently and let us know his short and medium term goals and plans. Economically, the country looks lost. |
