[b] AF Nigeria 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Africa Swaziland Oboabona: Swaziland deserves respect https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2015/11/oboabona_afcon_8.jpg Oboabona by Phumzile Ngcatshe Ahead of their crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Swaziland, Nigeria defender Godfrey Oboabona says they will not undermine Isihlangu Somnikati. The Super Eagles are set to face Harries Bulunga’s side this coming Friday for their first leg as they target to reach Russia in 2018. According to the Swazi Observer, the Rizespor centre back in Turkey admits that the Southern African country is not a big footballing nation, but they deserve respect. “Swaziland are not a big footballing nation, but that does not mean we don’t have to respect them,” said Oboabona. “They will be looking to beat us and make a name for themselves and that is the reason we must approach the game with caution. “We can’t afford to miss out on the World Cup after our failure to qualify for the last Africa Cup of Nations.” The report further revealed that Sunday Oliseh and his team are expected to touch down in Swaziland on Thursday before the match. Kick off for the match is 19:00 at Somhlolo Stadium with the return leg set for Tuesday, 17 November in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Luka Milivojevic opened the scoring for Olympiakos in the 20th minute before Ideye doubled the lead in the 60th minute. Super Eagles invitee Kelechi Iheanacho was in action for Manchester City in their 0-0 draw against struggling Aston Villa in Sunday’s English Premier League. Iheanacho was introduced with six minutes left for Raheem Sterling but couldn’t help City get on the score sheet. Iheanacho was nominated for the 2015 Golden Boy award last week. In the Russian league, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa saw action for 90 minutes as CSKA lost 2-1 away to FC Krasnodar. Fedor Smolov got the two goals for Krasnodar, while Alan Dzagoev got CSKA’s only goal. In the Rome derby which AS Roma won 2-0 against Lazio, Super Eagles assistant captain Ogenyi Onazi was an unused substitute. Strikes from Edin Dzeko in the 10th minute from the penalty spot and a 63rd minute strike from Gervinho sealed the win for Roma. In Belgium, Nigerian forward Imoh Ezekiel was on for 90 minutes for Anderlecht as they went down 1-0 to his former club Standard Liege. A Jonathan Legear goal secured the win for Standard Liege. [b] Watford Captain Loving Striking Partnership With Ighalo https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/image16.jpeg By Izuchukwu Okosi: Watford captain Troy Deeney has praised his striking partnership at the Premier League club with Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo and likens it with the partnership of Manchester United legends, Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole. Deeney who scored through a penalty on Saturday in their 2-1 defeat suffered against Leicester City, on a live Skysports programme monitored by Completesportsnigeria.com Monday said: "We didn't really work on our partnership before but we complement each other well. Odion has got quick feet in and around the box. He gets behind the defenders and he goes up believing "I'm going to win." "In the West Brom game, he had more shots than West Brom I believe. He's done a great season. His link-up game is good. Yeah, we are like Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole. We understand our movements," the English striker said in agreement to the comparison drawn by the presenter. Watford are 11th in the Barclays Premier League table going into the international break. Ighalo who has scored seven league goals this season is expected to be key in Nigeria's 2018 World Cup qualification game away against Swaziland on Friday. [b] Pellegrini: Iheanacho Is A No.10, Not No.9 https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Iheanacho2.jpg By Johnny Edward: Manchester City's manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that Kelechi Iheanacho in not a striker. Pellegrini made this known in his interview with Manchester Evening News when he explained reasons why he didn’t bring on Iheanacho for injured Wilfried Bony against Aston Villa at the Villa Park on Sunday. Bony limped off after 25 minutes to leave Manchester City without a recognised centre forward and Pellegrini opted to replace the Ivorian international with Jesus Navas, than the fast rising Iheanacho who eventually came on as an 84th minute substitute for Raheem Sterling. “It could be another option, but I think that Jesus was important also to play for the right wing," Pellegrini told the Manchester Evening News. “Maybe if we scored the goal we are talking about it being the correct option, but after that you never know if Kelechi can change the game. “But he’s not a striker. Normally he plays behind the striker.” Iheanacho who has been called up for Nigeria's 2018 World Cup qualifier has made eight appearances and scored once for the current league leaders. Chelsea Loanee Omeruo Injured Again https://mtnfootball.com/bp_images/2015/11/Samm_25_August_2_580x472.jpg Omeruo (left) is injured again in Turkey Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has had a relapse of a hamstring injury and so missed his Turkish club’s home win over Akhisar Belediyespor at the weekend. On Saturday, Kasimpasa won 2-1 with Omeruo not listed and watching from the stands. Last weekend, Omeruo, who is on loan from Chelsea, played the full 90 minutes in a thrilling 3-3 draw at table-topping Besiktas. He was even booked in the 78thminute. “Omeruo is again nursing a hamstring injury, it seems it is a relapse of the injury he suffered last month,” a top source informed. It is believed that his fitness problem accounted for him being left out by coach Sunday Oliseh for this week’s World Cup qualifier in Swaziland. Kasimpasa are sixth on the table with 18 points from 11 matches. mtnfootball.com/news/583539/Chelsea-loanee-Omeruo-injured-again |

Eagles spokesman Toyin Ibitoye disclosed Oliseh, who missed a CHAN qualifier return leg in Burkina Faso last month due to a viral infection, has recovered fully. “He’s in camp and he’s in shape,” said Ibitoye. Europe-based goalkeepers Carl Ikeme and Dele Alampasu as well as Ikechukwu Ezenwa from Sunshine Stars, Chima Akas and Austin Oboroakpo have also reported to the training camp. More players are being expected later Monday, but flight delays caused by a Lufthansa strike may cause the Eagles to only begin training Tuesday night at the Abuja National Stadium, Ibitoye further said. The training will be from 7pm. The team will fly out of Abuja Thursday morning on a chartered flight. The match will be played on Friday in Swaziland with kick-off slated for 6pm Nigerian time with the return leg on November 17 in Port Harcourt. The 28-year-old, who has joined up with the England squad for friendlies against Spain and France, scored five times in Leicester’s four games last month. Vardy netted in wins over Norwich City, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion, and scored two in the team’s 2-2 draw with Southampton at St Mary’s. [b] AF 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Africa Egypt Chad hoping to stun the Pharaohs Egypt's Pharaohs As the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers are set to take the centre stage, Chad and Egypt are set to be involved in a thrilling encounter. Les Sao will hope to cause an upset at home, hosting one of Africa’s finest footballing nations, and will be inspired by their recent good run. They lost 2-0 to Gabon at home in the African Championships Qualifiers (Chan), however, they won the return leg away. The World Cup qualifier is a replay of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier back in September when the Pharaohs demolished the hosts 5-1, and going to this one Hector Cuper’s men are favourites. Former Cameroon international, Rigobert Song will lead the hosts for the first time hoping to restore their national pride and will look to see Nassqr Ndiguem, who scored the winner over the Panthers, find the back of the net against Egypt. However, the Pharaohs will look to bag a win on top of their 5-1 walloping of Sao and 3-0 win over Chipolopolo of Zambia. Cuper, however, will miss AS Roma’s winger Mohamed Salah who has been ruled out for the clash due to injury and has been replaced by Zamalek’s Mostafa Fathi. To cripple his squad, Anderlecht attacking midfielder Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trezeguet’ will also be missing out after dislocating his shoulder a few weeks ago. The match gets underway at 14:30 and the venue is Stade Omnisports Idriss Mahamat Ouya in N'Djaména on Saturday. These two sides will again lock horns next Tuesday for the second leg. Although they’re enjoying the home advantage for this encounter, it’s not going to be an easy task to get a win over the Desert Warriors as they will also want to progress through to the next stage. However, the Charles Mkwasa-coached team will bank on their previous round’s form after beating Malawi 2-1 on aggregate. Speaking ahead of the match, Mkwasa said his players have prepared well and could cause an upset against one of the continent’s powerhouse. “My players are preparing for the game in very good conditions and are looking forward to represent their country at home against Algeria,” said Mkwasa. “I remain convinced that we are capable of catching them out as the players have been very receptive.” TP Mazembe’s Mbwana Samatta and Thomas Ulimwengu could be vital for the hosts, especially after being crowned African champions as they won the CAF Champions League. Meanwhile, the visitors have been boosted by the return of goalkeeper Raïs M’Bolhi, defenders Aïssa Mandi and Djamel Mesbah, as well as midfielders Adlène Guedioura and Nabil Bentaleb who are all back with Christian Gourcuff’s side. Gourcuff will lead his charges with one thing in mind, to erase their 1-0 friendly loss against Guinea and their win over Senegal could inspire them. In last year’s tournament in Brazil, Algeria surprised many by finishing in the knockout stages and will want to reach Russia come 2018. The match is set to kick off at 13:30 at Dar-es-Salaam’s Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium on Saturday and the return match will be staged in Algiers on Tuesday next week. thegoodjoehunt3: I did love him to win many awards in EPL, even before the year rounds up. Its been a while, a Nigerian did that. Now that he has come this far, its now his time to shine. The Coach has really done a very good job with Ighalo. How I wish some of our promising talents can also have the opportunity of growing and been groomed by experienced Coaches, to bring out the best in them. Ighalo was not this prolific in front of goal, when he was in Spain with Granada. Hope a miracle happens very soon for Isaac Success to get this same rare opportunity. This should't be a topic on this thread, but the U23 thread, but for the fact that, he is also Super Eagles bound, I have to mention it here. |

Orkpekyandega:Isaac Success case bothers me because he signed a contract extension which keeps him longer at Granada. That also makes it difficult for another club to sign him. I hope a club rescues that guy because he has loads of talent. If not the poor performances of the Granada players, Success should be in the Super Eagles camp. I hope Mancini and Inter Milan comes back for him. |

Orkpekyandega: Imoh Ezekiel's form has not really improved, since he came back from that Qatar. That money influenced contract of his didn't help matters at all. He just needs to up his game in order to have a look in by the national team handlers. Before his suden move to Qatari side Al-Arabi SC, he was banging in goals any how, now the goals have almost gone dry. Our players must choose agents wisesly, not the ones who are after money bads, but their overall success in the round leather game. Now can he still regain back his form? Thats a question for another day. |

Tomtoxic: Moses Simon, to me is not a good contender for the award, because his form after the U20 FIFA World Cup has not been that impressive. He is not in contention for now, to me. If only Pellegri had allowed Kelechi Iheanacho to enjoy some good playing time, the guy would have been a good contender for the award. But for now lets watch and see how the whole drama will play out. |

Orkpekyandega: This Brown Ideye of a guy is seriously bargaining for a possible call up to the national team. He is one of the Super Eagles players with the most consistent performance with their clubsides. A technical player like Ideye, whose striker partner could benefit from his space opening runs must not be left out for so long. I still believe he has a lot to offer to the Super Eagles, if called up by Coach Sunday Oliseh in our Subsequent matches. Atleast, he can make a good bench for us. His defensive abilities are never in doubt. He never gets tired even when his mates do. He works for the team even when his offensive moves do not result to a goal. CC:Icon4s pls beg Oga Coach Sunday Oliseh to invite this guy. |
| Re: Super Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: 2017 AFCON Qualifiers. by Icon4s(m): 6:59pm On Nov 10, 2015 |
terzurum5:Hahaha, y will I beg Sunday Oliseh. The team of Super Eagles scouts are watching. If Oliseh sees a need for him in d team he will do d needful. But I personally think he has done enough to b given a second chance. If some1 like Odion Ighalo can resurrect and b banging in goals, Ideye can still do it. He can fit into d supporting striker role jst like Iheanacho and Silvester Igboun. So u see we are blessed with options in dat position already. |

@ Sir Orkpekyandega **Smiling** You know what Sir? I'm already salivating.......... *winks* Mikel, Iheanacho, Ighalo, Moses Simon, Ahmed Musa and more in the same team?? Chaiiiii!!!!!!! This "meal" being prepared by Oliseh is giving off a "sweet aroma"...... Hopefully, "it" tastes better than or at least matches this "aroma sweetness"..........*smiles* And to think there are other "ingredients" one can still add like Success Isaac, Victor Moses, And other up-and-coming Super talents plus experienced legs like Ideye...... Hmmmm.......... (And observing the steady but "exciting" rise of other players of the Super Class of UAE 2013 and this Chile 2015 "unique" class---give "the 2015 set" about 2-3 yrs....) All I can say is this: ""WE'RE VERY CLOSE TO THE "FULL" MATURATION OF NIGERIA'S GOLDEN GENERATION. ANOTHER GOLDEN GENERATION IS HERE BUT STILL NEEDS "A LITTLE MORE TIME" TO FULLY MATURE......... Honestly, I'm excited"" The Nigerian Soccer project is here to stay....... I don't care about the current fifa rankings (even though that will come in handy in "determining" who we face in the 3rd round of the Caf zone Fifa world cup qualifiers). Soon, we will return to where we "truly" belong...... No.1 in Africa both by Rankings and by More Afcon titles..........*smiles* Among the Top 10 in the world........ And hopefully, we will lift that "elusive" World title........ "One day" One day..... "Just" one day.......*smiles* God bless Nigeria........ |

TheSuperNerd: Yea I can seeeeeeeeee. Another area am so excited about is the fact that, our players, especially at the youth level are in safe hands. Amunike's Coaching at the just concluded FIFA U17 World Cup leaves most of the Coaches with a lot of work to do. I can imagine all of them re-studying Nigeria's script to unravel the mystery behind Emmanuel Amunike's tactics. Manu Garba, Nduka Ugbade, Samson Siasia and Amoo, are other personalities we can trust in raising stars for the future. In Coach Sunday Oliseh, I see a very thirsty and hungery for success Coach, highly devoted and ready to carve a name for himself and the nation. If we can sustain this culture of harnessing, raising and developing talents for our cadet teams, then, in not too far season, the senior FIFA World Cup may come to Naija. |
