Author and TV host, Reno Omokri, has condemned the Paris attacks while urging Africans and Asians to set themselves free from mental slavery.

The former media aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, said it is a display of low self esteem for Africans and Asians to put French flags on their profile as a result of the Paris attacks when they do not put their own nation’s flag on their profile when terrorists attack their own nations.
“Terrorism is evil and condemnable. But we should not only cry when it happens in rich nations. We should treat it the same wherever it occurs. I sympathize with France, but why are Africans and Asians putting French flags on their profile when they do not put their own nation’s flag on their profile when terrorists attack their own nations? Are French lives more precious than their own brothers and sisters who are killed daily by home grown terrorists like the satanic Boko Haram and Al Shabab,” he queried.

The New Media savvy preacher, added that Africans and Asians should stop worshiping the Europeans.
“Africans and Asians should remember the words of Bob Marley and “emancipate yourself from mental slavery”. Terrorism is bad everywhere and not just in Paris. In every area of our lives we exhibit this low self esteem. We celebrate and worship European soccer and denigrate our own leagues. Now we sympathize with European victims of terror and are indifferent to our own victims. In Nigeria there are 1.5 million citizens displaced by terror. Cry for them first my brothers and sisters,” he said on his Facebook post.
The flag of France has adorned Facebook profile of many across the world in solidarity with France over the Paris attacks.

Some Nigerians are just disappointing

When I saw the development of Facebook, what pained me was not praying for France... Of course we should pray for peace in the world, but the fact that some people are just copying and following trend without even knowing why they should pray. Others copied and did not even pray. Only foolish slaves still stick to their master after being freed, Africa should wake up. We can pray for France, it's OK but our gallant soldiers and brothers in the north need more of those prayers.

It's not a shame, it's not hypocritical and it's not slavery either.

Ciara or some American musician made a song about terrorism and Boko-Haram, how may Nigerian/African artist has done that.

Attacks in Nigeria aren't documented well in Nigeria, the Nigerian government and people alone don't do anything about it. So who's the hypocrite.

Those criticizing Facebook, didn't celebs and powerful people from different countries show support for Nigeria, how many of you in this thread showed support? How did you show support?

Facebook is largely private so mark Zuckerberg and other shareholders can do whatever they like.

It's not a shame and it's not hypocritical.

We have to know our place in the world as a country. Even in a family, everyone has a place.

Nigerians stop being naive, France is a developed world power, Nigeria is an underdeveloped shit hole without 24hr electricity.

I won't ll do it and I won't advise anybody to do it but attacking Facebook because of it is extremely naive.

Really?

So a french life matters more than a Nigerian life?

Oh Reno shut up already. France is the country where I was born and I can tell you they're one of the most accommodating people on earth. It hurts that my beautiful France is going through this ordeal. I'm currently using the French flag as my profile pic on Facebook. Don't insult France Reno.

Nigerians and I too sabi. Why blame a man for his actions? If I choose to paint my face in sympathy for those who lost their lives in france and somalia, it's my choice. About a hundred people died in france, the government declared days of mourning and suspended all sporting activities but nigerian Government has never declared a minute silence for ten of thousand people who died in the last 6year. Rather, they prefer to celebrate independence day and even dance shoki on campaign grounds few days after terrorist attacks. So don't blame me for sympathising with people who appreciate life.

I think you are getting ahead of yourself.

Where was facebook criticised?

In any case Remo made a good observation - when millions are killed in Nigeria, many of the Nigerians changing their profiles to french flags now can't be bothered. They even come out to mock the north - they say things like " let them kill themselves" now that some people die in france of thesame terror they are changing their profile pictures to french flag. It's called mental slavery.

In the end, the criticism goes to Facebook. They paved way for the profile picture whatever.

When something occurs frequently enough, it becomes a norm. Whether you chose to agree or not, Boko-Haram attacks for now have almost become a norm and I don't even read articles about such attacks.

Omokri should criticize his bosses, Jonathan and Buhari not Nigerians.

In 80years, homosexuality will be a norm. That's an example.

I used it as my profile picture and i don't regret it because i see the actions, serious and sincerity the at which the french are condemning the terror attack, both their president, prime minister and the citizens, had it been in nigeria,we will be hearing statements like 'an attack on boko haram is an attack on the north' or 'i will make the nation ungovernable'.when gej used ihejirika to dismantle bh,they reported him to amnesty international but we all saw how the french comported themselves when hollandes unleash mayhem on the terrorist.

I will continue saying it...... black people are useless... If it pains you then try and reason like a human being and keep that your useless sentiments and emotions by the side...... #Reason

This is a clear indication that there is no country in Nigeria. Even when It takes the Head of State time to acknowledge that its people are been attacked, where the opposition are busy politicizing it.

It is very sad cos the Boko haram started with the demolition of churches and maiming of southern Xtians yet the Northern religious and political class could not publicly condem it.

What a country
