Hello NLANDERS, To those that sent notification of intent, Please can I see the US consular email response.

LAGOS

Thank you for your inquiry.

Please note that there is no legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment.

We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.

If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.

Sincerely,

Correspondence Unit (TMI)
US CONSULATE GENERAL
LAGOS, NIGERIA

ABUJA

US EMBASSY
ABUJA, NIGERIA

Thank you for your inquiry.

Before you travel to the United States for medical treatment, including childbirth, you should make the appropriate preparations, including an appointment with a healthcare provider, detailed information about where you will receive your medical services, and an estimate of the financial costs. Immigration officials may ask for this information upon your arrival. Healthcare in the United States is expensive. Costs associated with childbirth are high and can escalate quickly if there are complications. You are expected to pay all costs associated with the medical services received including housing, transportation and meals. Retain an itemized statement of account from your healthcare provider that outlines all of the charges from your care and receipt of your payment.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

Best Regards,
Consular Section

Why people wait till the last minute to apply for their visas baffles me. Deciding to give birth in a new country is serious business, and one's planning should start EARLY and be to a T! All this rush over nothing is really your fault. Any way, hopefully u get date and is granted. Good luck.

This can happen to anyone. She's good to good but since hubby can't go with her as planned, she needs her mom to go.

@mumtee keep searching, just make sure you've left all the documents your mom needs at the embassy. She may most likely come and meet you there.
All the best.

@Shawbabe... good to see you online today.

Please was it your nigerian driver's license you used to drive in ATL or you got the Intl driver's license. If you used the latter, how did you go about it, as I was told they do not issue it in Abuja.

Thank you.

Haven't you done any routine test during your antenatal so far?

You should have done most of them by now

Pele... that's the way forward o.
I watch a lot of series too.
Greys, empire, scandal, Good wife, criminal minds, CSI a lot of others. I play Unos, bingo, ludo etc online. ( still do)
Go to the malls on some days and walk around. It can be tiring / boring but it's almost over.

@Shawbabe dear, I and hubby have our visas months back. Just that work related issues that came up days ago is preventing hubby to come join me as planned. Hence; d reason I'm considering getting early interview date for Mum to join me to help out. No fire brigade here, that's my plight and thanks for responding.

To add my 2 cents for Naija visa (since I know u are not going to Atlanta) u don't need any notary. Eddy sent a sample letter and I signed on behalf of my dh who wasn't anywhere near me

For American passport however u need a notarized letter of consent if your dh won't be there

You can sign it down and take it with you but remember not to date it yet

@Favored girl, please help send d sample consent letter Eddy sent you, I hope it won't be breaking a rule if posted on d platform for all. Or do u mind if I PM you?

My dear people,

Here is thanking God for another wonderful delivery experience.

Our lovely princess arrived on Friday Nov 13 at Centennial Medical Centre, Frisco; 4 hours before Daddy and big brother arrived via DFW Airport.

Discharged and now awaiting BC and other documentation.

Will post details of our final bills later. Wishing all the awaiting mamas and daddies God's abundant grace.

Blessings.

Hello beautiful people, am now In LA, I want share my Poe experience. Flew BA from Lagos 3 days(was skeptical at 1st about BA but decided to use them after reading most of the reviews here) good flight experience I must confess, booked wheel chair services and it was really awesome. Though I dint get the service at Lagos.

Got to Lax at 2:30pm, very long que but thank God I was on wheel chair so it dint take up to 2 mins to get to my turn.
I dint spend up to 3 mins at Poe, no secondary inspection, no agriculture inspection, no question on money or payment. It goes like this:

Officer: why are you here?
Me: child birth
Officer: how long will you be here?
Me: end of January
Officer: where will you be staying?
Me: my sister's friend place
Officer: have you been to the US before?
Me: yes, but not this state.
Officer: do you have good stuff with you?
Me: yes
Officer: do u have fresh fruits or vegetables?
Me: no
Officer: place your 4 fingers and face the camera.
You are welcome to the U.S.
Was stamped in till May.

Will advice all new moms to be courageous and answer only the questions asked. Be honest and book wheel chair,it's free and it helps reduce stress.(opportunity to be served by oyibo....lol). Then most importantly pray.

Had all my burden of proof with me but no document was requested. I really thank God for granting me favour and smooth journey.
Though Am not a new mom on US birth waka , I stumbled into this wonderful forum mid this year and I read some poe experience that made me nervous. Nevertheless, I ve learnt quite a lot.

Thanks to everyone who had made meaningful contributions to this forum, God bless you all real good.

Please I need help with phone line, in part 2, I remember ultra or lyca were said to be the most affordable. I went to the store to get any of them but I was told that ultra no more give free 1000 mins to naija is now pay as u go and lycra $29 plan can only call land lines in naija not mobile. Pls advice me, is there any other affordable line I can buy that will enable me call naija or should I take lyca $59 plan with 600 mins per month......

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but was the ticket round trip or one way? If your baby has a naija visa in her US passport, she'll have to get a round trip ticket. I got a similar quote earlier this year but had to change my date and when I called back the lady I spoke said they made a mistake with previous quote cos my baby could get a one way ticket with her naija visa and they would've charged me more at the airport for round trip. I eventually paid $190 for round trip and got a refund for $85 a month later for the unused leg of the trip.
Just check again to be xtra sure.

Why don't you sign up with boss revolution for international calls? Just google boss revolution and you can buy credit for international calls. Or if you have skype, you can buy credit, I just discovered that the rates are the same as boss revolution.

The 1000 free mins is a sham cos it only calls landline.
Buy the ultramobile plan of $19, top up with intl up credit and you are fine cos a min is 6cents to Nigeria.
