It is also said that in times of severe drought in the land, the chief priest of the mountain wraps a white cloth around the ‘waist’ of Ishage rock precipitating a heavy rain storm that night, after which the Rock discards the white cloth.

In another level portion of the mountain, there are clusters of curious indentations vaguely resembling footprints and aptly named “footprints of the elders”(Ese awon agba),

Its difficult to believe we have beautiful tourist sites like this in the South-west and our governors are not doing anything about it

I saw what Donald duke did with tourism in Cross-river

Is Obudu mountain resort naturally more beautiful than this

I'm enjoying it so much!

I don't want to interrupt you inbetween, sugbon, the footprints of the elders site is so cool. And the rock that never moves?

I've always loved mythical-like stories.

Let's not take away from Obudu's beauty......

Not to take anything away from Obudu, its beautiful, but packaging is its selling point

Its not the most beautiful tourist site in Nigeria but its the most packaged

There is helipad for access by air, swimming facilities, cable cars, hotels

These gorgeous huts

If we can have all these in our tourist sites plus ma.a.d publicity, we should be getting close to 100,000 tourists in Yoruba land anually

OPC launches online radio, magazine

LEADER of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, Otunba Gani Adams, has announced the launch of an Oodua Radio/Magazine, in honour of the matriarch of the Awolowo dynasty, late Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo.

Adams who said the launch took place in London earlier in the week, explained that the media will serve to project, enhance and showcase the Yoruba cultural heritage and tradition of the Yoruba to the world at large.

He said that there was an urgent need to resuscitate the Yoruba culture and tradition which he regretted were going extinct. Adams said the radio station would propagate the cultural beliefs of the Yoruba through what he described as effective communication channels.

According to him, “establishing the Oodua Radio and Magazine is a deliberate attempt to showcase Yoruba culture and ethics globally.

In his address, Tourism Editor of Tribune newspapers, Gabriel Akinadewo, urged Nigerians especially the Yoruba to be culture ambassadors within and outside the country.

“We must all support the Federal Government by projecting the image and protecting the name of Nigeria for the change mantra to work and Oodua Radio is a platform for everybody living in London to do this,” he said.

Big sigh, I have never been a fan of the so called OPC, i put all of them in the same bracket (agbero) however i think those ones are easier to handle because they have known leaders.

As for terrorism, you will see an idiot who believes his leader is in far away iraq (isis) and would not mind killing his neighbors just to show allegiance. Just look at what happened in mali today

OPC has a definitive goal which is protection and defense of the commonwealth. The allegiance is to Ile-Ife, no where else.

OPC is not waging a war of ideology, but rather that of justice! Their jihad, if I may call it that, is to live and let live. They do not desire to force faith, conscience, doctrine or creed on anyone.

Yet you can't say the same about GEJ. How many have died from his cluelessness?

Firstly, this discussion is not about Jonathan and I did not start it.
Secondly, federal civil servants were not owed salary for almost a year as AreGbese has done.
Thirdly, Jonathan shared the JOINT Federation account & ECA to all the 36 state governors despite his own better recommendation for prudence. So you should know who is really clueless by now.
Fourthly, I see you need education, which I can PROVIDE to you generously. Below are 15 pages of just a SAMPLE of the socio-economic TRANSFORMATION work of Jonathan in just five years:

https://www.nairaland.com/2117791/achievements-jonathan-sambo-administration-pictures

However I cannot force you to read what I provide you with, in case you want to remain IGNORANT.
Go through and compare to Omo Onile, Agbaya of Owu's eight WASTED years of second chance civilian presidency.

Beyond the physical buildings of the schools, should we not ask:

- How many qualified TEACHERS are recruited annually instead of using ONLY fresh graduate NYSC Corpers?
- How many lab. Attendants are recruited ANNUALLY?
- How many qualified LIBRARIANS are recruited each year?
-What is the IMPROVEMENT in the ratio of students to teachers/lab. Attendants/librarians etc from one year to another?
- If WE constantly ask these questions, is it not more likely the 774 LGA Chairmen and 36 state governors will recruit for primary, vocational, secondary & technical schools and so reduce UNEMPLOYMENT, hunger & death in our midst?
- If we regularly ask these questions, will our students not receive greater QUALITY of education, pass WAEC/NECO/JAMB/UTME etc better and create VALUE to make our society more competitive with the oyinbo societies?

Does anyone know why we find it difficult to ask these questions every time for our own improvement
Why?

AreGbese did NOT mean well for Osun people.
No he did NOT.
He only came to the state to steal & to kill.
That was what he did for eight years in Lagos state before our Asiwaju 'posted him to Osogbo as his personal ajele rent collector.
I can argue this till tomorrow and no one wins...

Please, don't turn this thread into dyck-measuring contest.

We're not measuring schlongs and bellends here, this is for discussing Yoruba folks and areas we need to develop.

You and I know that outside Nigeria, apart from NFL (the gap isn't even that wide), or in Italy (where there aren't that many Yorubas) - Yorubas dominate Igbos in sports. In the UK alone - the gap is wide, from football, to rugby, to track and field (maybe Igbo women and Yoruba women are neck to neck), to boxing etc.. You should be competing with the Edos, not Yorubas.

^^^That's not all, but the ones available online. 36 names there. If you can piece together 18 Igbo names (half of that) playing for the best football academies in the UK, I owe you £200. Don't post it here, post it on a next thread and tag me.

It should've been 40, but I excluded, Dele Alli, Solanke, Odubade, and Ola Aina from the list. So don't add Ibe, Alex Iwobi, and Chuba Akpom to ya list. You can add Aramide Oteh though.
