Yes Nollywood is an English/Igbo industry. Also, Nollywood is based in Lagos, Asaba and Enugu, and it is being controlled by ndị Igbo in these cities.

Controlled by Ndi-gini?

the list of top 20 grossilng films shows the director making the industry thick https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_films_in_Nigeria

If you are referring to those low budget 10-10 kobo films, good luck to you. Shows your quality or no quality.

Shymm3x, why is this handle mentioned in the 'Commonwealth' thread. You did that on purpose, right? And on that note, why is the last 30 pages of that thread dedicated to Igbo people? For gods sakes.

Huh?

I was basically just responding to someone's post about Pazienza and his smear campaign everywhere about the thread. And I alluded to the fact that the both of you are similar.

You just wanted to drag me into this war, don't you? grin

Anyway, when ya folks stop wandering everywhere like Esau and Pikeys, folks won't discuss the problems you bring with ya wandering shoes to Yorubaland, while snarling up the whole place and putting unnecessary stress on the non-existent amenities there. How about stay in region like Yorubas stay in theirs? grin

I'm out.

Films projecting igbo culture still dominates in that list. Why not lets get practical. This is the most popular male yoruba actor who carved a niche playing igbo roles because the industry is igbo dominated.

Get down to the list and start highlighting them.

People like Omotola and Mercy Johnson, Segun Arinze, Desmond Elliot etc who really made Nollywood are non-igbos smiley
igbo films use english language and gets wider actors and viewers. Olu Jacobs favorite role is Igwe with full Igbo traditional regalia even dropping igbo proverbs. Even desmond elliot said he dropped his yoruba name get favor from igbo producers.
How did these few yorubas which act for igbo producers and marketers become the pppl who really made Nollywood. What happened to Pete Edochie, Patience Ozokwor, Kenneth Okonkwo, Kanayo O kanayo, Nkeru sylvanus, Oge okoye, Jenevieve Nnaji, Bob Manuel, Jim Iyke, the list is just endless bro

Good! we are getting somewhere. At least, I've gotten you to boldly proclaim your Yoruba movie industry as Yoriwood.
As for Nollywood, it remains an Igbo industry that employs people from different cultural backgrounds all over the world, not just in Nigeria. We ndị Igbo are liberal in nature, so we give everyone an opportunity to shine in our industry, as long as you're able to prove your mettle.

superstar1:

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, It was not created by Igbos. If you want to create a movie industry that is exclusive for igbos, you will either create it Enugu or Aba.

Nollywood is for Nigerians.

Yoriwood is for yorubas.

kannywood is for northerners.

Ibibio and efik films are for ibibios and efiks.

Where are the Igbo films?

Nahhhh. It is the dubious nature of igbos you are trying to exhibit.

Nollywood comprises all the films in Nigeria and all Nigerians created the industry. If you want an exclusive igbo film industry youill create biafraudwood or igboplank industry.

Igbo and liberal does not go together. they only employ their people. they do not give shops to non-indigenes in their lnd, they do not sel land to non-indigenes and they are hostile to non-indigenes. #fact.

If there's gully erosion in Igboland, at least that's being discussed, not half witted comments about people hundreds of miles away, you know, just a hint. If everyone were fleeing Igboland then the Enugu, Anambra, and Imo threads wouldn't be there now would it? Have you or your people ever been mentioned there? No. Now why can't you focus on a project just like posters in the Enugu thread are too busy discussing south east/Igbo project's. I think you guys should use that thread as a template because this Igbo, Igbo, Igbo thing has you looking like a estranged lover you know. Go and tell the rest in that thread. You can say you came up with this idea on your own if you want.

You can name it whatever you like. Igboplank sounds more interesting.

However, Nollywood --- Nigerian-ollywood is the property of Nigerians and not y1bos. We have Bhollywood and Ghollywood and Hollywood, which comprises of all the films produced from India, Ghana and America respectively. Same is applicable to Nigeria

I don't check ya threads cos I know folks naturally don't migrate from a functioning/thriving society to a non-thriving one. The migration pattern in Nigeria alone is enough to tell me what Igboland is like - hell on earth and somewhere everyone is trying to get away from.

Well you probably don't pay attention to health/development statistics either, so here's a help: https://www.nairaland.com/2698050/nigeria-holding-back-south-east

This is the sort of things posted on those threads since you've never seen them (because, again, you're never mentioned). Just in case you were ever wondering.

I guess Europeans colonised South Africa and Australia because Europe wasn't functioning, or there's a million Japanese people in Brazil because Japans horrible.

But did Igbos colonise Yorubas?

And are Igbos in Yorubaland due to the fall-out of world war 2, like the Japanese who migrated en-masse to Brazil after hiroshima and nagasaki?

Ezeagu, you just love troubling me, don't you?

However, the problem is that when you're in ya Igbotic element, you always allow emotional impulses to override logical reasoning.

Igboland is a dead end, hence folks keep leaving the place. Tell the truth and shame the devil. grin
