Cant you guys get some thugs to beat him up? He'd just be in an hospital bed for a year while y'all get your ass*s outta that school. #END TIME LECTURER |
| Re: Hm by ProfBrainbox: 2:56pm On Nov 28, 2015 |
Most of the students complaining here are those who never intended to study mathematics, they wanted to school in UNILAG at all cost and were offered Maths as a bailout...Maths is not political science...u have to be a genius sometimes to be a maths graduate. I did Business Admin in UNILAG over 10 years ago and had an encounter with Osifodunrin (not a Dr. then)...behold, I passed his course at once! |

Math Lecturers are mostly heartless |
| Re: Hm by Favparis(f): 4:21pm On Nov 28, 2015 |
I suggest you guys channel your grievances to the school Senate. Do a letter to the senate committee and through the HOD. One Lecturer I hate in UniJos is [Mr Songden] of Physics Department. He will drastically reduce your grade to the whatever he wishes. I have vowed to frustrate any file that comes my way/through my Office with the name, [SONGDEN]. HIS CHILDREN MUST PAY FOR ALL HIS WICKEDNESS....... |

sebastine15:The LECTURER is really helping to manage the economy. He doesn't want them to graduate into JOBLESSNESS . Buhari should accord him national recognition |

Folanky:u trust SUG 2 do what exactly? weren't they there when 97 out of 140 had 'F's in an mcb course under bablo? what exactly did they do? |
| Re: Hm by Nobody: 4:52pm On Nov 28, 2015 |
ProfBrainbox:You might be right and wrong at the same time. Why? People that are given Mathematics Education after a fall out from reaching their respective cutoff marks are ones that chose Engineering and Mathematics related science courses. So, even if they were admitted in their chosen course, they'll still meet tons of Mathematics questions. And statistics have shown that people graduating as the best students in less-competitive courses are the ones that never chose it. Go figure! |

sebastine15:@Op first of all hope none of your names is sabestian because u may be found eventually if this case is brought to the notice of the management. I graduated from that same department like 5 years ago and we heard a lot of unpalatable stories about this same man, we learnt then that he travelled abroad for his doctorate. Infact we really thanked our stars we didn't encounter him during our 4 years program. He co-authored some books on algebra with professor Ajala, such as elementary linear algebra, introduction to ring theory etc. We really enjoyed Prof Ajala so much taking this same course he is taking, Baba is mature and welcoming God bless my Prof of life. He shaped my orientation about dressing in native attire with my fila(cap), oh that man is ever neat and sociable infact he inspired me to buying Mercedes Benz as my first car. Av not been be to my alma mater close to 4years now after convocation, God bless my lecturers. Back to the topic, bring the attention of the HOD to this, he will be talked to by the likes of Prof Okafor, Prof Ajala, Prof Okunuga and Prof Olaleru(although he too is a bit sadistic but he his of age now I guess). This is ICT age and nobody should be allowed to drag a successful system backward. Afterwards the likes of Dr Akewe had taken that same course before his arrival if I'm correct, so wats his stress!!! Abeg he should be tamed joor! The Unilag he left like 10years ago is not the same, he should be adviced properly or else social media will just cheaply scandalized him. My regards to Dr Gbademu, Dr Fenuga, Dr Osilagun, Dr Bridget,Dr Akarawak etc also to Prof Kenku if he is still in the system. God bless Unilag!!! |

I know the op very well, we were in the same hostel till year 4.. And the lecturer in question, I know him very well.. To me he's a good man.. My opinion though But we don't relate on academics level because I'm not in his department.... I feel the op should go-to one of the prominent people in MATHEMATICS department.. I'm pretty sure Education (HOD) won't do anything to help. I know a lecturer the op can appeal to and he will help them get through But I feel nairaland won't help you |

Eddygourdo:I agree with you but i wouldnt not call them fools in a haste except they were here to speak for themsleves. Students today rely so much on what has been said in class, most dont even do any reading on their own whatsoever to understand the concepts, i need somebody from that department to tell me bo one got a "B". In the professional cadre, precision saves time and money and uf he marks you down for errors you should thank him because some real life situations do not offer you a second chance. Look on to the positive side of things, I was of your opinion several years back till i sat and objectively evaluated the scenario l. From the POV of these lecturers it is more fufilling for a student to understand his course and pass it effectively, this in turn means he hasnt wasted one semester trying to learn you all. How many times have you been able to consult same lecturer with a reasonable math problem and he turned you down? Then you can make a case. Our generation needs to sit up. We dont need to pass exams alone, we actually need to rake control off the hands of expatriates and amend the views of employers which hold true that most Nigerian graduates are unemployable. Nna jisike o.. guo akwukwo. Chineke noyere gi |

BuddhaPalm:No my dear, on the contrary, I am an educationist to the core and I know what I am saying. --- Letting students go (40%) is different from doing your job well! --- When I was in school, I had a lecturer who is suppose to teach us account, it was a borrowed course. Through out that semester, he only showed up once, arrogantly teaching account as if he was writing a note. At the end, he sent our CR to us not to worry, that he is in charge that we will all pass. Only a test and we were all like what is this because, it was strange to us but at the end, so many people failed the exam. so many things like that! --- Now will you say that that lecturer has imparted knowledge? --- In education, if more than half of the class is not getting what you are teaching, you change your method! --- The aim of education is to impact knowledge. So the lecturer must ensure that that aim is not defeated! --- In a situation where over 50% fails your course, it simply means that lecturer is a failure! |

opeaceo:My dear you should see the joy a lecturer has within him that students passed his course. My mother a retired secondary school principal, always had a bad day when we plotted statistics on the computer to etermine the gaussian distribution of the exams she just marked (her subject), especially when the modal scores where below par mumcy shed tears. What am I saying? Lecturers give you the concept but teachers teach you all you need, a lecturer expects you to do additional research on his course work to buttress his concepts. Life is dynamic and so are the challenges of the real world, we often come to troubled ends if we solely rely only on what is said in class. Doing the extra work sets you apart. |
| Re: Hm by opeaceo: 8:31pm On Nov 28, 2015 |
ABEngine:As much as I agree with your point, there are lecturers that love students failing, they derive joy in students failing their exams and tests. After putting in the extra work and someone says you wouldn't get a distinction because the "A" grade belongs to him?? |

ABEngine:you have said it all |
| Re: Hm by pesty100(m): 8:34pm On Nov 28, 2015 |
Eddygourdo:yap it is not lecturer's duty to ensure students pass, it's not also is duty to ensure students fail, students of this day are as hard working even more hard working than students of your days. Look at what students of your day with something in their head have turned this country into. the so called lecturer included. Calling majority of Nigerian students fools is just rude of you. If you have a child in the school in this country then I can confidently say he or she is a fool |
| Re: Hm by ABEngine(m): 8:45pm On Nov 28, 2015 |
opeaceo:I would take a "B" and the knowledge with me... gaskia |
| Re: Hm by Eddygourdo(m): 8:54pm On Nov 28, 2015 |
pesty100:Oga I know what I am saying. I have worked with students for a long time, i was also a student and it's only today that I realise my folly back then. The Nigerian educational system is now such that students went through special centres to enter universities, during our days there was nothing of the sort, therefore if u find yourself in engineering, medicine or accountancy you will know you are meritious of it. Not today that un merits are studying courses they don't deserve, a lecturer duty is to guide you hitherto to lecture you. It's your duty as a student to educate yourself by self learning, peer collaboration and education tools, most of u so called students are not students rather they are simpletons who believe it's the lecturer's duty to make u pass and the moment you fail it must be his fault. I repeat again. Nigerian students are simpletons and fools, a majority of them educated illiterates, go to that same class that had all those fools and you will see the humans amongst them who scored something meaningful, was it not the same lecturer, was it not the same questions that were set? Please I have been around students for a long time to know what deebs they are. Nigerian students |
