Hello wonderful mommies with a mission to birth in the USA. So I have been following this thread from the first part, and I must admit I skipped some pages..so I have the intention to birth my second baby in the US.
My question is has anyone used delux childbirth or heritage childbirth services in lagos?
What are your reviews on them?
Is there any other good childbirth service in Abuja?
My other question is, in 2005/06 I applied for a vacation visa and the age in that passport was reduced as advised by my sister. However I was denied the visa as there wasn't enough financial backing and I was even a student back then.
Fast forward to 2010. I got a new passport with my current age and have travelled to 2 African countries with Dubai. m married, haven't changed my maiden name In the passport. Will this pose a problem in my visa interview? How do I go about the age thingy, even though it has been more than 10 years?
Lately, for mums that travelled with their toddlers alone, did you use a daycare? What is the cost? How did you cope alone without any help? Thanks in advance.

shocked shocked shocked I am sorry but you scored F9. In ftymums' voice kikikikiki, serious carry over, you need to start all over from part 1. We don't patronize agents here, in fact we can give you better service at much cheaper rate, just consult the gurus in the house.

Hi Fam,my first tym posting...started reading since july after i got my visa, read all 3 parts diligently.. So here goes my POE story...flew BA 28 nov @ 36 wks with my Sis and 2 kids,a copy of fit to fly was taken,my bags weren't searched. Flight was good. 4hrs Stop over at heathrow. Requested for wheelchair but didnt get any all thru the journey... Flight to L.A was looooooong.mostly whites on board. Fast forward to LAX queue wasnt too long, we were directed to the next CBP who asked what the relationship btwn us was. Asked me and kids to go back that he will only interview my sister.told us to wait for the next available CPB,but he apparently had noticed my belly... As soon as we got to d next CBP, he asked my sis to step back a lilttle so she wouldnt hear him and called d officer that was about to attend to us..telling him not to stamp me in cos i was preggy..he stamped my sis in shortly after... Back to my own CBP(very pleasant black guy)
Officer - why are you here
Me - brought my kids for Christmas vacation and also stay back to have a baby
Officer - exclaims to have a baby?
Me - yes
Officer - i see. How much do u have on you?Me - 9k,officer - any Dr correspondence? Me - Yes. Officer - does the 9k cover everything. Me - yes.
Officer - you know what.im gonna have to send you to an office to verify everything and check out the cash cos i cant do that out here.stamps my kids till may,the guy that was to take me to secondary was already there and kept muttering to himself that 'only in this country this kind of a thing happens and that change is coming soon' i asked him what kind of thing and he says for pple to come have their baby,i asked him if it was a crime. He just glowered angrily at me. Lol and took me in,i asked them to allow my kids stay with my sis. In the room there were about 40 pple, mostly asians and no other preggy...i thot i was going to be there for hours, got called by a female officer abt 10mins after..
She asked how much i had.how long i intend to stay.told her 7wks.asked how many months i was during my visa interview. Told her 3 months, asked if i told them about the pregnancy, told her No but i later sent them a mail, but i forgot to print it,would she like to see it on my phone she said Ok..she read the mail, gave me back my phone and said hope i know i shldnt take any govt aid which i nodded to. Then she started to type and type and type(wonder what she was typing for so long)when she finished she said i could go..note she didnt ask for the money or check any other doc apart from the mail on my phone. got to customs and guy asked me to fill another form to declare my money and my sis as one.(not a prob) i declared 18k in total. Our bags were not checked and we were asked to go. Fast forward to next day.opened an account with Wells Fargo which is free to operate for 2months(my exact duration of stay) or i can continue running d account free of charge with $1500 minimum balance or 10 transactions with debit card monthly..went for my Dr appointment and registered at the hosp as well . i want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed on this thread.some pple i pmed who responded nicely.Omary83,mamatobenna,Chenonye and Misen. Nb sterling is selling PTA at 199 at the head office in marina.

Hello Mums, though I don't have an idea what the BC looks like but I have a question.
When filling the BC form, for those of us whose Int passport is in our maiden name despite being married. What name do we fill in the BC form (as the mother) does it allow us to fill both maiden name and married name?

Regardless of what is on your passport - whether married or maiden
You can only fill your maiden name in your child's Bc.

Your information and the transcript from the first denial is still very much alive on their computer systems. If you are truthful during your interview and fortunate to meet a compassionate VO he will definitely deny your visa application but you may just escape a life time ban for material misrepresentation We had a friend who did the same nonsense when he was younger . He later won the green card lottery but his past came back to hunt him and his family. He's DV application was denied but because he was forth coming with the truth he was able to avoid the ban according to the VO.

Just a quick question please. Does a baby need to have his eyes opened when taking passport photograph to apply for his US and Nigerian passport. My boy is just 2 weeks old n na for night d guy dey like to shine his eyes.

Not necessary for US passport, my 1st baby, eyes were closed with my hands showing in the background sef grin grin grin, second baby taken in car seat with white cloth as background.

see below from US website: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/under-16.html

When taking photos of newborns and infants, please make sure no other person is in the photo, and the child is looking at the camera (preferably with his or her eyes open, not required for infants and newborns).

For infants and newborns, lay the child on his or her back on a white blanket or sheet to ensure his or her head is supported without the aid of a hand. Make sure there are no shadows on the child’s face if you are taking the picture from above. Alternatively, cover a car seat with a plain white sheet and take a picture of your child in the car seat.

maiden name or name u used before ur first marriage (that's their term). A woman can change many husband's but cannot change her maiden name. So contacting the mother or there won't b issues with Surname change ever.

For your baby's BC, use your maiden name whether that's what you have on your passport or not

There's a BA counter at the departure and there are no third party airlines involved, jus BA. What's the specific issue to look out for?

Oh,good for you then. If BA doesnt ve a counter at the depature airport,American Airlines wouldnt collect the ticket payment from you and they ll ask u to find a way to make the payment before they ll allow you board. It can be very crazy!
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by LI(m): 8:54pm On Dec 03, 2015
Ladies and gentlemen, when you're adding an infant to your ticket, insist on getting the new booking reference. It's usually different from the booking reference when it was just you on the ticket. And confirm yourself online if the information was filled in properly. You can avoid speaking plenty English at the airport by doing this

No. His eyes do not need to be opened. They accepted my daughter's pictures with her eyes closed at the US PASSPORT office.

Hi there,

Like Nasadiva said, your details are already on their system. It will be extremely tough as what you did, unknowingly, was misrepresentation aka lying. They do not take these things lightly at all at all. Miracles happen though...

I would advice you to go ahead to apply, come clean if the VO picks it up. On the other hand, you may declare it outright when filling the form, in the section for other information...Other views are welcome...

Last piece of advice - apply from Abuja.

The question on daycare is a secondary one...you have a bigger issue on your hands...

My dear I added my baby to my ticket and maintained same ref without hassle. I got to the airport on the day of departure and paid for the ticket at the counter where they pay for excess luggage. Shikina.

I was asked for my maiden name and that is what appears on my baby's BC. Like you my maiden name appears on Intel passport. As a word of caution, ensure the info you fill is the same as what you filled out on the form that the welfare officer/ social worker obtained from you after birth. I delivered at WHMC and right afterwards a social worker filled out a form for me. On it they specified 'mothers maiden name' so just be sure you double check. Good luck.
