Re: NL Rap Battles chatroom by kr0ne(m): 11:46pm On Dec 04, 2015 |
llaykorn:Very good! Lemme explain, using some lines in your verse as example. The first bar: James thinks my bars have gotten whacker with timeI'm sure you wanted to do four syllables here but the starting rhymes 'whacker/weaker' don't rhyme. It's not a must that every word in the syllables must rhyme but always ensure that the first and the last do; you can slant those in the middle. No problem about that.
Due to the way you kicked off, I assumed you adopted the two-line scheme, but you derailed here when you couldn't end the 4th line with a word that rhymes with ways/bae/ and away - the 4th's end rhyme is 'all' which doesn't match with the scheme. Even the "all" doesn't really rhyme with "burn". Burn can go with "learn/yearn/earn/turn/spurn", etc. And I've had my girls threaten me to take their lives Two things went wrong here: you did five lines, which is odd and the "exams" in the middle doesn't rhyme with the rest. Aside these, you did a very good job and I'm Funlord is satisfied with the way you executed his topic. Kudos, bro. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

kr0ne: Thank you so much Kr0ne. But is it compulsory I adopt a scheme throughout my verse? Can I switch between a two-line and four-line scheme? |
Re: NL Rap Battles chatroom by ELYMAXiimus(m): 7:24am On Dec 05, 2015 |
kr0ne:well, i believe we all have Preferences. This here, is an assumPtion. You don't always have to tell a story in other to deliver a Punch. Set-uPs are only needed if there's a Punchline to exPlain. But then, some lines are self-exPlanatory. In rap battles, your bar carry more weight when the setup connects with final punch.true, but what's a bar? A line! In raPbattles, battlers sometimes don't need to do set-uPs before droPPing heymakers; just one-liners, eg. Bmagic. another assumPtion. They weren't random Punches. Observe - You can set uP and Punch at the same time; there's a secret technique i use. i think battlers on this forum shouldn't be restricted to one Particular way of writing like it has been instigated here. Write whichever way you can. Generally, some Punchlines require setuPs, some don't. 1 Like |

Re: NL Rap Battles chatroom by PeinDanzo(m): 8:52am On Dec 05, 2015 |
ELYMAXiimus: I agree with this! NL should stop being too restricted with the 3lines ,then punch style of brawling. Textcees lyk tega gat wuld take almost 12 lines to land a punch(Via story-telling) and guys lyk ink wuld take jez 2. Its not the set-up, its the creativity, ingenuity and the perturbation IMO ...Altho,darkrebel's style is jez boring cuz after a long set-up,he doesn't wow the audience with his punchz and most times doesn't carry em along 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: NL Rap Battles chatroom by kr0ne(m): 9:58am On Dec 05, 2015 |
llaykorn:Yes, you can twist it anyhow you like. That's where complexity comes in. It's risky, though, because you'll always have to make it even. If you start with three you must add another three to balance it. But just so you don't make a mistake, two is advisable. |
Re: NL Rap Battles chatroom by kr0ne(m): 10:06am On Dec 05, 2015 |
ELYMAXiimus:I simply told you what I know and added some explanation as well. Text battle schemes are quite different from their audio counterpart. Can you also explain why most audio wordplays are not pardonable in text? When you battle someone in text, your focus must be on your opponent. 1 Like |

I just dey use one Kain eye dey look the judges for this KOP tourney. How you abandon battle threads you 've been tagged to vote on. I don't even need to talk too much. Just keep making the tourney look like a joke. I have a musical concert to be a part of this month, and some live rap battles I'd be a part of as a glad of course. I was gonna deal with everything serially in order not to disappoint and make the tourney drag. But with this lazy attitude of the organizers and judges; why waste time dealing with a dead movement? it's a matter of time before I pull out. Just keep with your act. |
