Not just replacing Christ with X...You'll see someone typing a lengthy post or message only to end it with "IJN"...WTF. You're not lazy/tired typing the post/message but you're lazy typing "In Jesus Name?"

I just tire!

Hi everyone...

I've been carrying this burden in my heart for some time now, and I feel its time I let it out.

Dear christians, you're gradually replacing our lord's name (Christ) with the letter X why?

To be honest its very bad...we're christians, we carry the image of christ not X. So I see no reason why people should say I'm an Xtian or merry Xmas etc.

X if you're a mathematics student simply means unknown. So replacing christ name with X simply means that you have an unknown identity.

It means you no longer bear the image of christ, but an unknown image.

I know we all aren't perfect, and we are all subject to mistakes...but I pray that as God has opened our eyes to the truth, we would learn to call his son rightfully, and refrain from replacing his identity with an unknown letter.

May God bless us even as we keep to his word.

Happy sunday. smiley

The “X” is actually indicating the Greek letter “Chi”, which is short for the Greek , meaning “Christ”.

Same with the use of IJN.... abbreviating the name of Jesus which is very wrong. Call the name of JESUS in full so that the devil will hear it and flee.

The World and everything in it is constantly evolving. You can chose to remain static but nobody cares.
The language you speak today changed through time.
The food you eat today changed through time.

Time will come when Christianity itself will become less popular.
You as a human can only live through your short time here and take the exit door. Another generation will come and decide how to do their things.

Op i disagree with you. X in xtain or xmas doesn't mean unknown but just an informal way of pronouncing the words.

X is the Greek letter “chi,” the initial letter in the word Χριστός. And here’s the kicker: Χριστός means “Christ.” X has been an acceptable representation of the word “Christ” for hundreds of years. This device is known as a Christogram. The mas in Xmas is the Old English word for “mass.”  (The thought-provoking etymology of “mass” can be found here.) In the same vein, the dignified terms Xpian and Xtian have been used in place of the word “Christian.”

Google is ur frnd.

Can you tell me a negative effect, any one at all of IJN or ijn. Does it mean it does not mean In Jesus Name, does it mean our prayers will not be answered?

I'm pretty sure God deals with the heart of a man and if man he writes IJN in sincerity he's good in his book.

Why are we splitting hair over letters when it's the spirit that gives life?

From time before memory, abbreviations, codes and numbers have been used to represent words and names (especially sacred ones).

How does writing Xmas for Christmas diminish it's significance, celebration or commemoration?

You guys think higher beings bother with the names of your holidays?

If you take a little time to google, you would discover more than you can swallow about Christmas.

This is the problem of Christianit nowadays.....Legalism. Of what importance is writing X in place of Christ in the progress of the church.

If the OP starts a church today, he would add this as part of the doctrine. The same way a pastor was heard to have said that allowing a woman to be on top during sex is against the word of God......Legalism.

Rather than write a bible exposition to strengthen our faith, you are discussing grammatical expressions.

Let us concentrate on what is important and leave God to improve our understanding. Afterall Jehovah is English way of spelling Yehovah or Yahweh.

Christians should concentrate on learning and imbibing the word of God and not adding legalism to doctrines like the Catholic, Mormons or some Penticostal churches of today.

Happy Sunday.

Whether "x" or "christ", Capitalized it or not, god or God...It still doesn't prove the existence of your imaginary friend. If your God is really all powerful and omnipotent he wouldn't be bother about some stupîd spelling. Well what can i say, the same god told you to cut off your genitals. God should just resign and be an English teacher.
