At age 8 (Primary 4) in the 80s, I remember very well I could draw the map of Nigeria so well. My interest since then had encouraged my love for geography and GIS. So far, so good. Even with my Google Earth Pro, I am still dumbfounded that Abia now has a SEAport. If that sea is Azumini sea, Then we have to update world known seas. 1 Like |

Azumini, Ohambele and Ohanku are 3 villages in the most southern part of Abia State. They are close to the Azumini Rivers (Good for small boat navigation). Distance from this area to the Atlantic seashore is approximately 55 kms. Azumini river empties into Imo River around Obete village. Both continued into Opobo Channel before ending into the Atlantic. If Azumini, that is 1/10th the size of imo river turned into a sea, Then, Ose river can get a sea port as well. 3 Likes

A section of Imo river passes through Abia State. So Navigation is very possible on Imo rivers for light and medium boats. The depth of Imo rivers around its largest span of about 160 metres is not more than 5 metres. This depth limits its Navigational capacity. Azumini on the other hand is just about 25 metres wide, but too shallow for such names. If you call your title Riverport, then it will be understandable. Thanks. 4 Likes
