Why arresting the subordinate alone and leaving d superior to walk like a free man .....
Nigerians are really weeping for the bad economy of Nigeria ..while some cabals are here carting away our money in trillions of dollars...

Everytime they write press, if it is not Stella Oduah, IT is Alison Madueke, now Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and Emefiele. Nobody ask of Fashola or Tinubu?
You are a perfect example of the fools we have on Nairaland.... Why are you insinuating tribalism

The title of this Sahara reporters piece is misleading and the ensuing argument is bereft of logical analysis. The author has not followed all the relevant news pertaining to the on going investigations. What is in the public domain is as follows: Dasuki received just over 2 billion dollars for security cumulatively over a period of time. This money was meant to procure arms to fight boko haram and security votes for people in the corridors of power respectively. The questions that NIGERIANs should be asking is: is the NSA mandated by the constitution to request the money and disburse as required? If the answer is yes, then is the NSA allowed to circumvent the anti-money laundering initiatives by handing out large sums to select individuals and corporate entities in cash. If the answer is No!, then Dasuki should be prosecuted for malfeasance. For the avoidance of doubt, the CBN governor or the minister of finance does not have mechanisms to vet, reject or investigate perfectly presented mandates from government parastatals, who are operating under emergency conditions. They only need to reference the presidency. The author is playing to the gallery and as a devils advocate. Nigerians are being led down a dangerous alley way by this witch hunt. Keep an eye on the deteriorating Nigeria economy which is comatose at best.
you are also playing to the gallery by overlooking the main point behind the authors argument and have instead chosen the ethnic /trbalist route of defending their kins man .

the author main point is his belief that these monies were released illegally as they were not appropriated , I believe NOI & emefiele are experienced heads and should know whether or not due process is being. followed ( if it wasn't then they cannot claim ignorance simple!)

U also overlooked his additional and critical point which is that even commercial banks /bankers should be sanctioned too as they also facilitating corruption by allowing wealth questionably acquired to be domiciled with them and also paying out CASH to individuals (which I might add affects our liquidity) Or have u forgotten naija politics is known as "Ghana must go politics

anyway the author only mentioned NOI & emefiele as examples , his main Pont is we should seriously start going after the FACILITATORS. of these embezzlements , not just focusing on the politicians .

@Sleeky,
Be warned:

Jonathan's was a war time presidency. If you wait for NASS to pass Bill for arm's import, Boko Haram could take over Aso Rock during the waiting period.

Those who used Boko Haram violence to capture political power in Aso Rock are supposed to be jailed, not Jonathsn and crew who fought Boko Haram gallantly

On this issue you are wasting your precious time. A lot of Nigerians have taken refuge in ignorance. Trying to tell people to think now is to render them homeless. Though it's good you are trying to show him what it really is. Not for his sake but for that of young minds reading the comments.
Hmmm, how I wish you could stop thinking though your tribal prism and discover that there are objective Nigerians out there devoid of political and tribal bias who view issues by how it will affect the general populace and not just a section of the country.

So, urging Nigerians to stop supporting people who have agreed to have misappropriated public funds is a bad thing in your book?

Many lived their entire lives under dictatorship and would not recognise a lawful society if you threw it in their faces.
A President has no power to order money from the treasury apart from the money appropriated by the national assembly, and for which he has been granted discretionary powers . Even at that, the money must be spent on what it was appropriated.
Any other act is an act of corruption.

Someone is trying to fight wat has been regarded as a huge issue in Africa out of Nigeria ( corruption) but we condemn him. Nigerians tends to appreciate a bad man in good uniform just because he does tinz in d good look but aftermath effect is dangerous.

My ambition does not worth blood shed of any nigerian, but wat about d $2.1b arms deal converted to private wealth n d death of our gallant falling soldiers n our fellow Nigerian in d struggle.
I tire o ... after doing nothing tangible... I mean tangible across the 6 geo pol zones all it takes for some people to idolize a man is for him to agree he lost an election.

You are just being unnecessary emotional here. You have simply told me in your argument that appropriation is not rigid since you argued Buhari can evade it to avoid hunger. Don't you believe that Jonathan too can evade it to end war. At least only a people in peace as oppose to war can feed? Or don't you think if weapons had been bought and northeast war brought to an end, the people living there wouldnt be thanking Jonathan by now? Our problem is not with appropriation or not but with diversion and mismanagement. If Eweala argued she acted in national best interest she can be forgiven. The grouse are with those who didn't put the money in appropriate use.
Yes, even if the war had not being totally won on the part of the army but the budgeted money used for its intended purpose, even if any body cries witch hunt, school of Public opinion will nail the present Govt. But the past government acted in a way that they never knew they would leave power so soon. Who'll forgive NOI? why did she turn a blind eye to the diversion when she knew in its totality everything about it being the minister of finance. Infact, school of Public opinion has already nailed the past administration, court will only put finishing touches as I know, Dasuki will not go Scot free. NOI though claimed she acted in the best interest of Nigeria, yet, she did it in secrecy which in the long run benefitted their caucus and no Nigerian. best interest my foot!

Don't distort the argument, most people calling for Okonjo-Iweala's head are not doing so based on where she's from. You may say they are politically motivated but definitely it's not about her tribe. As a matter of fact, It's even most of those supporting her that are doing that because of her identity.

My stand: No matter who you are or where you are from, so far you have diverted our commonwealth to your personal use, you should be 'witch-hunted' and made to suffer for it.
Are you okay? Everything about Nigeria is tribal. It is the height of ignorance to insinuate otherwise. Buhari's election as president is tribally constructed yet you have impetus to tell us the call to criminalize Okonjo-Iweala on an officially documented transaction is not tribally motivated. When did Nigerians grow out of their tribal cocoons?
