Players like Mata are a set back to a team desiring to win the EPL. Mata is 27, at his age JS Park was tagged a big game player by SAF. JS Park could play in the wing and number 10 successfully. JS Park was capable of robbing the ball off opposition in any part of the field, and commencing an attack thereof. He was very small but strong. His final passes and through balls were almost as good as Scholes' and Giggs'. Where Scholes and Giggs had advantages over him was making a pin pointing cross or putting the ball on someone's head precisely from anywhere in the final third. May be too, long balls to team mates. Mata doesn't have these either. Park can be part of a great counter attack

Under Moyes, we were in contention for even the title, immediately we bought Mata, we had a series of bad results such that within a month or two our hope of reaching top 4 was dashed. This was a player bought to rescue us. He will cope individual stats no doubt, but at the end his general contribution to helping the team to be feared is zero.
