God bless you!!!!!!! Smart ko smack ni. We are talking about a sudden transitioning from next to a ghetto life and a system that does not work to a world class system. The truth is even if you have lived in banana island all your life, you will still experience some of what the op wrote.
saxywale:

It has nothing to do with being smart or not. Would he get a scholarship if he is not smart?
Even, if you have lived in Victoria island all your life, you go still be jjc when you enter a first world country!
Nigeria is years and years behind when it comes to world class infrastructure and technology.

Yes, they do. But the question is how many Nigerian hotels has the OP ever stayed in before his travels?

Bros calm down, u know I am privileged because? As long as u travelled without a companion or someone to guide you, u will definitely make a few mistakes, cultural shock etc. All am saying is dude didn't need to go to far away Canada to figure out how to use a key card.

Secondly certain things in life are instinctive, nothing wrong in asking for help, I remember when I first used the Gauteng train system, I had to ask for assistance.

Here's a funny one, I was at Oxford and wanted bread and beacon, I asked the attendant for baguette and he asked me to say again so I repeated myself over and over again, apparently the guy is having a moment of his life laughing at how I pronounced it. So I asked him how many languages he speaks and he said just English, told him I am bilingual and shouldn't expect me to say things as he would.

I remember a story someone told me about 2 Nigerian guys who visited London for the first time. They went to a Chinese buffet and paid £7 for all you can eat. They ate so much that the next time they visited the Chinese buffet, they were told that they have been banned.

I went to the reception and asked for directions to school from the hotel so I could proceed with registration ishhh. They suggested I use a cab since I be JJC. So I asked the cabman how much he pointed to the counter. As the journey progress my blood pressure kept rising because my full concentration was on the counter. At the same time, I had my fingers on converter and I was automatically converting and calculating the amount I will have to pay him in naira. All the waka wey we waka no pass distance wey I dey use jog for Nigeria yet I paid about 9,000 after conversion chai I con dey reason say how much be Lagos to Abuja self by road na?
I had this above experience when I travelled out of naija for the first time. Those foreigners keep on reacting like that thing I wanna buy or that bill I wanna pay is sooo cheap.
If u earn in naira and travel out to spend in dollars or other foreign currency outside west Africa, a lot of things will look so expensive to you when converted to naira. U need to be a friend of Dasuki or one of his benefactors for u not to cry as u are spending dollars.

bros, using keycard is not the problem. Having it power the room is the catch. I had to travel out before I realised that u need ur key card to access power, water, heat etc in that hotel room u lodged. Here in naija, ALL THE hotels I have been to, the keycard only opens ur door.

Do you know the millions of Nigerians who have never had the need to stay in a Nigerian hotel before? Doesn't mean they are local. They just never had the need.

As a matter of fact, there are Americans who have never left their county before, not to talk of sleeping in an hotel with electronic card entry.
