Buhari, What Is 'technical Defeat"? (video) by Naijiant(op): 1:22am On Dec 25, 2015
Buhari during a BBC interview claimed there is a "technical victory" over Boko Haram. What does this mean?

Maybe partial victory or relative victory

Sounds like "half pregnant". You have either won or you have not.

since bokoharam has been reduced to carrying out soft target or pockets of attacks it means they have been greatly weakened and fast running out of ideas unlike before where they can stand face to face with our military collect weapons and claim territories. However this does not mean Bokoharam cannot restrategise to create another major attack, hence the word "technically"

I agree with you about a reduction in their capacity, but to say they are defeated or to declare victory means that they are no longer fighting.

It means the war is not over yet, but most of the battles have been won. BH now fully back in the guerilla mode of fighting, and do not have a well structured or defined base or headquarters. Do not forget , at a point BH declared gwarzo as its headquarters.

Boko haram war will not stop like a switch, i am no prophet of doom, there will still be attacks at least for the next 12 months as suicide bombing or attempted bombing.

So if the war is not over they have not been defeated and it is premature to declare victory.

"Boko Haram has reverted to using improvised explosive devices (IEDs)," he said. "Indoctrinating young guys... they have now been reduced to that.
"But articulated conventional attacks on centres of communication and populations.. they are no longer capable of doing that effectively.
"So I think technically we have won the war because people are going back into their neighbourhoods. Boko Haram as an organised fighting force, I assure you, that we have dealt with them."
You already got your answers in that video. But because of mischief, confusion or bitterness, you fail to understand what he was talking about. Now I ask you, what do you gain from all these? How do you feel seeing your fellow citizens in pain? Do you and every other person who hold these negativities as you against your country of birth have any conscience at all? Do you think what befell those in NE cannot happen to you? I have gone to your blog and I see that you revel in spreading negativities about your government. My question is what do you mean to achieve?

Even if you're not a Nigerian any longer, at least you were born in Nigeria at a point in time of your life. Can you be proud of your country of birth with all these negativities you are spreading against her? Have a rethink comrade. It's never too late for you. All the bitterness, curses, lies and vituperations against your government that you are even expecting to make your life better will never take you anywhere. Repent and in the spirit of the season, be a good ambassador of your birth country. Word!

In such war against insurgency and religious ideology, it is almost impossible to say the war is over. Even if there are no bombs and attacks for 5 years. It is not a structured battleline war, If i may ask, How do you define total victory against bokoharam ?

Why are you now concerned about what goes on in the NE?

You don't give a rat's ass if they live or die.

Wasn't it the same APC that used the insurgency to get into office?

We who oppose your ungodly party can never believe any useless lie that your lying govt spews.

For your information, I'm not APC but a Nigerian. I'm human so I believe the life of any human being counts. Take your grouse to your political enemies. I know all of you are eagerly waiting to celebrate another deadly suicide bomb so that you can tell the world that the deadline is not feasible. Isn't it? But let me ask you, when those bombs go off, do they discriminate whether you're APC or PDP, rich or poor, Christian or Muslim? No, they don't.

America spent 10 years in Iraq, and up till now, bombs are still going off once in a while. I don't want that for my country. All I'm after is peace so that as a Nigerian, I can move to anywhere I want in my fatherland. I see no tribes, no religion, no party affiliations. All I see is the humanity in every one. So there's a huge difference between you and I. Anything else?

What is your stance on the Shiite massacre?

Do you approve of such heavy and excessive brutal and systemic use of force?

What is your take on the killings of IPOB youth by security forces? Is it in tandem with your love of life?

Pls answer these questions first

I hope you know the meaning of "defeat" and "victory". Reducing the capacity of the enemy is not "defeat". If the enemy is still fighting, you can't reasonably declare "victory". So if the video provided answers for you, it only raised further questions for me.

I actually understand what the president is talking about - he is trying to make excuses and qualify the situation he has found himself after stupidly giving a deadline for defeating BH.

What you call "negativities" are simply the truth about Nigeria. George Orwell said "in a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." The Bible says "you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free".

The website is dedicated to telling Nigerians the truth. The truth is that thieving politicians (APC, PDP, whoever) have been lying to Nigerians for too long. And only the truth would set Nigeria free from criminals in power.

You should learn the difference b/w country and govt. It is my love for my country that makes me hate what the govt is doing to it. Nigeria is being destroyed by lying crooks in govt and people like you should stop deceiving yourselves that the APC is any different from the PDP.

Both have been peddling the same lies about defeating BH, while the terrorists regroup and kill more Nigerians.

BH "technically" trying to take Maiduguri right now after they were "technically defeated".

Report reaching DAILY POST from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital has it that there is an ongoing battle between Boko Haram insurgents and the military over attempts by the insurgents to take over the capital city.

According to DAILY POST reporter, there is tension in the capital city as the military are making effort to stop the insurgents who have mobilized themselves in buses from penetrating the city of Maiduguri.

DAILY POST gathered that the terrorists, who were trying to make an inroad through Ajidalari, along the suburb of Jiddari Polo, were intercepted by troops and members of the vigilante group popularly called civilian JTF, resulting to heavy exchange of fire powers from both sides.

One of the security operatives disclosed that they were in pursuit of the insurgents and that they had killed many.

Attempt to speak with the spokesperson of the Operation Laifya Dole, Col Mustapha Anka was unsuccessful as his phone number was busy at the time of filing this report.

But residents of Polo and Damboa roads in Maiduguri said that the sound of heavy artillery and gunshots had brought back memories of the dreadful days.

“Wallahi, it is not good at all. The sound of gunshots is too much from our area here. It is as if the shooting is happening in front of my house. I saw a lot of Civilian JTF with sticks and daggers running towards the old Molai road, with soldiers on foot also among them”, Bulama Shettima, a resident of Polo in Maiduguri told DAILY POST.

Another resident of Damboa stated that the situation seemed to be a clear reply to the military and President Buhari that the December deadline was not met.

Reacting, however, the Army Spokesman, Sani Usman, said there is no way the insurgent could be making attempt to take over Maiduguri. He said what happened was an attempt by some suicide bombers to penetrate into Maiduguri before the military intercepted them. He asked, ” how could the same insurgents that have been defeated be making such an attempt?” Usman promised to issue a statement detailing what transpired.

Not sure what it means to suggest that you have "technically defeated" a terrorist organisation that are still able to lunch guerella attacks? Because this is how terrorist groups operate in the first place.

And to be honest I don't understand what Buhari and Lai Mohamed are celebrating? The state of Boko Haram right now is as it was when GEJ handed over!
