With the way politics in nigeria is going, it almost seems as if nigeria is running a one party state. The longest surviving political party that ought to have functioned as a strong credible opposition has found itself being ravaged by corruption, impunity and political scandals. Nigerians are now split between those who believe in the change mantra of the present administration and those who simply hate apc.

But this need not be. If our country is to grow we need credible opposition that can deliver constructive criticisms without insults or bias or any form of hate.

That said, I have compiled a list of things i think any intelligent nigerian who means well for this country ought to look out for:

1. What is the motive of your criticism?
This is the most important factor in being a constructive critic of govt. If your motive is to spread fear or hate or your own personal bias, then nigeria doesnt need to hear it. The motive of any critic must be the growth and devt of the country not "i hate buhari" or "apc are liars" etc

2. No insults
Many people think they are making a point when they spew insults on political leaders. When u insult people, they wont listen to you and as such u make no impact whatsoever. Rather being civil and respectful in your comments. Breathe and try not to show anger, you will be more likely to get support and a listening ear

3. Provide a reasonable alternative
Many come online or go about saying things they hate or do not approve of government actions and policies. But ask them what they would do differently, and they absolutely no idea. If you dont have an alternative solution to a problem then dont make it worse by mindless comments.

4. Speak to policies and actions of government and not persons.
Do not say "I dont like buhari". Rather speak about his actions that you do not approve. You dont impress anybody but yourself when you show bias

5. Do your research
Some people who claim to be critics end up mumbling and juggling up facts, and sometimes they do this intentionally just to backup their preconceived selfish agenda. Telling lies or jumbling up facts does not make any impact. Rather you just show how shallow and unproductive you are.

6. Give room for counter-criticism
Some of us have so much in-built anger that the moment anybody disagrees with us, then next thing is to throw insults and tantrums. But this is really unnecessary. Nobody is perfect so be open to other people disagreeing with your point of view. Rather than insult them, learn from it.

With this said i really hope we all can abandon this polarized hateful arguments. It doesnt help government or citizens or the country. All governments need a counter balance and persons who can genuinely criticize govt policies with harboring hate or a personal agenda/bias. It is through credible opposition that govt can hear the cries of the nigerian people

This sort of reasoning is both childish and unproductive. If your comments wont benefit anybody but your ego, then swallow it! Nigeria needs positive development and positive thinking, not vile insults that dont help anybody

It is your right as a citizen to wail, doing it angrily or bitterly is onlya reflection of how the Government hasn't been favorable her citizens. The president was elected to deliver and he is being paid, he also have tons of advisers who also paid for that purpose. You blackmailing the citizens with provide an alternative (not like the clueless government will listen) is not only wrong but also adding to their plight.

Blackmail in what way Be reasonable. You are crying against something, and when they ask you what you want, you have no answer. So what is the point of crying?
Nagging for no reason amounts to being silly. Think constructively and be a solution rather than the problem!
