Nigeria is not easy at all o. Me I also have a problem I am finishing my service next year and my parents want me to relocate abroad do my masters and to stay with my siblings there, but deep in me I dont want to, what I want to do is business.
Should I go abroad finish my master's and start life there?
Or shud I tell them to use that money they want to use to send me abroad to gimme to start my dream business?
Or shud I go abroad finish the masters, hustle out some money then come back to Nigeria and start the business?
Please I need your help to decide...
You better go do your masters and work for a while abroad. You can then come back with experience and reasonable capital to start your business. Right now our economy is in bad shape. This is the period when people should acquire new knowledge and skills so you'll be ready when the economy turns around. This is a good time to go back to school.

Cant you try doing casual jobs like marketing, sales girl or cleaner. My aunt started as a cleaner in a multinational coy and now she is a director... Stop looking down on jobs and start from somewhere while you submit CVs and await them to call you.. You are a female... There are plenty jobs in esp mainland.. you can work in factories too.

Another thing is you need to review your CV and make sure its inline with the job you applying for cause it increases your chance of being invited, register in all these Job alert websites and pray too

Look for average paying jobs and use it to further develop yourself. Then you have opportunities. The cleaner that turned to a director in a multinational company has a story behind it or it's a lie.

I was surprised to see that too. Cleaner to a Director! Multinational company? Just like that? Haba!

Why not go back to village to celebrate Xmas and New year with your family in the East? You can return January with some food stuffs and other assistance from your mom.
Mom is mom, they never slack. She must have food stuffs and little change for you if you decide to come back to Lagos.

My advise:
Lagos or ragos as they call it grin is not for everybody. It will be more convenient to look for civil service job in your state than starving in Lagos.

From what i notice, you just want to live in Lagos cos its center of excellence or no man's land. You can stay in Nigeria and apply for job in America. So you can stay your home and apply for job anywhere in Nigeria.
If they call you for interview, you take night night bus to the city and go back home immediately.

I'M FROM DELTA STATE, WHEN MY FRIEND HAD INTERVIEW FOR A FEDERAL JOB IN ABUJA, HE DON'T HAVE WHERE TO STAY AND DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR HOTEL.
HE TOOK NIGHT BUS TO ABUJA, SHOWERED AT THE BUS STATION BATHROOM AND MOVED STRAIGHT TO THE VENUE.
LAST LAST, HE GOT THE JOB AND TOOK A LOAN TO PAY FOR RENT.

I dont know why people chose to suffer.
Ode! Did she tell you she's Igbo? And why are you always denying your people in public? undecided

Its not easy especially for ladies to stay witout doing anyting. Two tins r bothering u rite nw- staying witout a job and living rite in ur cousin's house witout a job.
My advice is just take it easy, tank God January s ard d corner jobs wil come b4 d jobs u can lay ur hands or start lookin for teaching jobs, try applying for jobs online. Some companies r recruiting online.
Againg, try to communicate wit ur cousin, don't take his action personal dat u tink he s wicked. U may need to once in a while tell him to bear wit u dat as soon as job comes tins wil b ok for u.
Tell him to just bear wit u¥
Finally, no. Matter the situation don't ever tink prostitution or being a runs girl is the best for u. Just believe in God nd he wil see u tru.

I came to Lagos in August in search of job, after I concluded One year nysc programme.
I left my mom and my kid brother to relief my mom expenses on taking care of us with my aunt( mom elder sis) and granny(mom's mother).
My mom is a single mother( lost husband at early stage of marriage like 5years after) and also an average civil servant, who has been taking care of every one and our needs.
I left them to Lagos to hustle and also support them.
Since I came to Lagos in August, I have been searching for job and spending my little service on transport, paper work(photocopy and writing/ rewriting of CVs) and feeding most times.
Here in Lagos, I live with A cousin brother(from mom side) who i respect alot and love most among my other cousins.
He accommodates me and sometimes drops #500 for cooking when need to , i have to manage it ( everything is expensive but I have to squeeze) and cook two days meal for both of us.
Since this month, he has been get upset over anything and i sense he not happy of my joblessness and he's fed up of my staying at home sometimes ( I stays back cos of no transport fare to go out and I was told to check back some places I tried by January).
My hope is in January and I believe I must get job by January with the faith I have.
My cousin brother came back yesterday 24 Dec and told me, he's travelling to villa that when he's back, I will tell him why i came Lagos. Before leaving he drops #500 for Christmas cooking.
I have endure enough staying with him by eating like a beggar because in my house we eat 3square meals everyday. Food is not our problem,Christmas day mom will prepare a big chicken, salad and drinks for us. I'm saying here is that am not after food but what he told me. Now I sense that he doesn't what me to stay in his place again. As it stands, I don't have anywhere to go and I really want to work in Lagos, am not lazy and I dislike staying at home. That's why I went for aviation course ( Ticket booking ), So I can get job since my grade is poor ( my bad mistake)but I believe my destiny is not tie to it.
I don't know what to do and where to go.
I have been crying all day.
PLEASE I NEED YOUR NICE ADVICE
Pardon my errors.
Thanks
Sorry for the long piece....

U ought to have taken up a teaching job or sales/maketing job, immediately u arrived Lagos. As far as Lagos is concern, u needed not to have stayed at home doing nothing for good four months, if u are not among the types who walk around with 'I am a graduate' mentality. Ur cousin is even a good fellow, to have accommodated u and still gives u a token occasionally for food. U will getta appreciate him more, when u truely understand the reality of the present Nigeria economy. My dear, go out and look for any job that can keep u busy, while searching and waiting for those dreamed ones. Depending on where u are in Lagos, u can easily engage urself with a teaching job. Visit computer village Ikeja, there are lots of sales/maketing jobs there too that can pay u not less than 20. U must start somewhere. All the best

Do you know you can create jobs yourself? Don't wait for jobs to come to you, go and get them. I will take myself as an example. I was in a situation like yours and I seized the opportunity one day. You see, opposite my building there is this family, a woman and three kids. Seems the husband works offshore. I had the opportunity to talk to the kids and I discovered they are intelligent. Next thing I did was pay the mum a visit and told her I would love to take her kids on private lessons. That was how I started.

Can this be possible in a one man business or an indigenous company ?
Let's hear your aunt's full story cos it could be encouraging to us all.

No company would take you with your third class.

Please what did you study?
I made a 2.2. And I workednin a top audit firm that accepts only 2.1. And 1.1

I can put in a good word for you but I need to see your c.v.

What have you been involved in since you graduated.
Why did you make a third class.
And what plans do you have for the future.

If you made a 3.3. Please stop looking for work and start looking for the much needed connection that might take you there.
Bros, which one is 1.1,2.2,2.2,3.3...as if na barca-madrid score line.

thank you very much, you said it right. bchi please stop thinking that you may start big in life. sometimes it requires us starting from somewhere small. Don't just stay at home like that, do some little menial jobs while you await for big ones, because your cousin is looking at you as unserious fella. You are waiting for the big hammer. while not start teaching or other menial job. My sister who finished her nysc last year is still looking for a job, but she's a caterer. She's not staying idle. she bakes and cooks food for rich people at events. currently the money she makes monthly, na big money wey me sef dey envy. for your cousin, tell him to be patient with you while you still search for job. you need to be leaving that house every working day to do something.

I took them put in more effort, today I'm better than when i started. You will surely testify if you do not relent. Your destiny is not in your grade, third class should not deter you from applying.
