7 Reasons Why P.M.B Should Grant All Formal Interviews In Our Official Language by Pidggin(op): 10:29am On Dec 28, 2015
This is not an Anti-party thread, rather it is one that I hope will inspire national consciousness regardless of the party you support.

It is rather worrisome that we have been reading translated versions of formal interviews granted by our dear president. Many of us will like to receive first-hand information on such interviews granted to the media.

Here are a few other reasons why I think we should be a bit concerned about this trend:

1) English is our official language and as a president who believes in one Nigeria, PMB should lead by example and uphold this for the sake of national unity

2) Granting formal interviews in his mother tongue makes some of us view him only by his ethnicity, this is not too good, as we already have the challenge of finding unity in our diversity.

3) It gives undue importance to one language over others

4) It further helps to aggravate people from other regions and promotes disunity

5) Our youths are highly educated and for him to appear as such, he should communicate in Englishlanguage because it is used as the main medium of education in our country

6) More Northerners who appear to prefer speaking their dialect will want to learn English If our president uses it as a medium of communication and this will increase interest in education.

7) Past presidents avoided this for the above reasons, hence he should do same

While I support learning and speaking our mother tongue especially in informal situations, note that I mentioned that this should be avoided by our president in "Formal interviews" and other "Formal engagements"

I Believe in one Nigeria.

It's either he speaks to foreign media or speaks in Hausa to foreign media.

In Nigeria he only reads scripts prepared for him by others.

Sparingly he makes passive comments to journalist in Nigeria.

Yet before election he was even on Narialand, claimed he owned an IPad, Facebook page, Instagram account and twitter account just to reach the widest audience with unrealistic exaggerated promises.

Since he won he left the showbiz business to speak Hausa.

I agree, don't think he can converse without reading scripts.

I usually look forward to listening to President buhari speak in English, not so much for the content of his speech, but to enjoy(sarcastically) his thick accent while he's at it

Have you ever come across Buhari speaking hausa in a formal gathering?
Let's be realistic about this now. President Buhari doesn't address the nation in his native tongue, as far as I know.
Honestly, I think you're just one of those haters who are gathering your fellow walkers to pick on our dear president.
If you don't like Buhari, kindly pack your bags and leave the country. Return in 2019 and vote him out. Finish!

In other news, Hausa is the official language in Aso rock as we speak. Buhari is a sectional leader with bigotry engrained in his DNA.

Spot on bro.

Funny enough they usually start their needless epistle with"This is not anti-Buhari.....This is not anti APC....."

I don't care the language he grants interview with so long he gets the job done. That's what I voted him for not to nitpick on his accent or language.

Bloody hypocrites and ethnic fools, and they are. Complaining about Nigeria not working

If you love this country, you wouldn't be here talking about what language he's speaking and what he's not speaking. We have more serious things to debate about in this country. It just pains me to see Nigerians trying to make a big deal out of little things that mean less, at a time like this.

Your hypocrisy is legendary. Would you have liked it if Jonathan had been granting interviews in his Ijaw language?

it is clear you don't like Buhari, dont even try denying. I have seen the French president grant interviews in English. if he can do that, why can't Buhari grant interviews in hausahuh moreover, Buhari on that same day and place did the interview in hausa, and after that in English. check YouTube for confirmation. You wailers cannot just take a break, and it's not that you have done a background check before creating a thread.

I don't see Mr President as a truly national figure- a uniting figure. Largely due to his utterances an silence on national issues.

His posture depicts, sectarian disposition. I stand to be otherwise educated.

This is not about wailing, please don't get me wrong. He should stop granting formal interviews in Hausa, that's all I am saying.

the apc docile followers would soon call u wailer.

a president that finds it difficult to speak to its own media and more worrisome speaks in his native dialect like he is the president of hausa Fulani.

may God help us under buhari's leadership.

Thanks for your advice, but I know when a leader is becoming sectarian, it's quote easy to tell, and for me it is a big issue

You have very valid points and I appreciate that, but I heard the interview was granted by BBC HAUSA and he also did an interview for BBC world service, I don't know how true that is and when i can confirm . I will modify this post.
Back to the topic, granting an interview for the beeb hausa is not bad, most hausa fulani's nairaland is their transistor radio ( no insults intended ), I hope we will not interpret this wrongly.
