elampiro:Even Messi has fewer goals from outside the box too, so I don't get your point. The greater percentage of any player's goals always come from inside the 18yard box. I can easily recall many of his stunning goals for Arsenal, and I'm not an arsenal fan. |

We all love a fairy-tale, but the bias for this Leicester is becoming all too glaring and annoying. Everything they do is either blown out of context or downplayed. Huth did throw an elbow at Otamendi... Inler did foul Aguero in the box... Mahrez made a meal of the challenge for Mangala's foul, same too did Vardy for Sagna... abeg, I can go on and on! |

Dadehmola:1. 2009 was the second worst injury season for us. 2. Rooney was also injured in the run in and had to be managed into some games. 3. SAF resting Nani and Carrick against Chelsea at Old Trafford. 4. Most importantly, Berbatov unable to carry the team when Rooney was struggling with injury. Remember, Rooney carried the team when Van Persie went on goals drought. |

United should go all out for Mane and Isco this January. We need players to supply for Martial. |

Elxandre:I never said more goals should be scored from outside the box. I was looking at where Van Persie made his goals attempts in 2012/13 vs where Rooney made his goals attempts in 2011/12. Anyway, never mind. It's not an important stat for this discussion. But just know that Van Persie generally plays very close to the goal all his striking career. |

Dadehmola:To be fair to Rooney, Man united would have certainly won the league if Rooney stayed injury free. I mean this guy was on 33 goals by march , but ended may with 34 due to the injury. Rooney of 2010 was in Messi and CR7 class, and was becoming a strong favorite for the Ballon d'or before that unfortunate injury. Rooney even had more goals than Messi and was top of the EPL chart before that injury. (correct me if I'm wrong) http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/the-big-question-is-wayne-rooney-now-the-best-striker-in-world-football-1902775.html https://www.nairaland.com/416636/messi-vs-rooney-better-2009 Can you imagine any sane man creating a thread comparing Rooney to Messi right now? ![]() I remember many coaches eg Ancelotti, comparing Rooney to Ronaldinho, Messi etc. Let's not malign Rooney and forget who he was some years ago. ![]() He was the best No 9 in the world at some point, and I feel bad some people think he has always been shyte and incapable. Peace ![]() |

Yes! Yes! Rooney has had good years. I was one of his biggest fans too. But all dat one na IN THE PAST. Now, all what United fans want for the club is progress. And Rooney isn't the kind of progess we are looking for. He has to be booted out ASAP!! |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Elxandre(m): 12:19am On Dec 30, 2015 |
AdeLaNa1:Yes I know! His best days are over I guess. I only get pissed by fans who imply Rooney was never good enough to lead united to titles. It's an insult! |

Joeace3000:How about we give this Memphis guy time? Football these days though. We already label a 21 year old a flop after six months? Just look at Ozil. After a couple of average years, he has finally found his footing completely. |

Elxandre:funny enough my Alias is Rooney. ..(some Nigerians can't take d tiniest effort to pronounce someone's name correctly, hence the "Rooney" ![]() I could remember my big bros then (a Chelsea fan) calling Rooney the best player in the world. But that was the physical , intelligent and confident player we had back then...(the fuccking past ). United fans are complaining , not because they hate Rooney, but because the current fatso is 80% useless and unproductive! I wish the likes of Elampiro and Co will understand that. #GGMU |

UniqueGem:Your optimism is something else, for you to believe Isco will dump Madrid for struggling united in January ![]() Besides, Isco can be annoying, and doesn't release the ball ever. Unnecessary dribbles ![]() He's too soft for a sudden move to the EPL. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by UniqueGem(m): 12:50am On Dec 30, 2015 |
Elxandre:Of all the vices u've mentioned, Sterling has all and more. Silva was soft too, mata is ever soft, ozil is over soft. Isco will leave Madrid if he is guaranteed first team football at any top club. |

Elxandre:We won 9 of our last 11 matches in 2009/2010. Why didnt our "talisman" help us in those matches where we dropped points earlier that season? |

AdeLaNa1:32 EPL players that are better scorers than Rooney the fat bastard in 2015; https://u.goal.com/2463400/2463472.jpg https://u.goal.com/2463400/2463432.jpg https://u.goal.com/2463400/2463442.jpg https://u.goal.com/2463400/2463452.jpg https://u.goal.com/2463400/2463462.jpg https://u.goal.com/2463400/2463482.jpg https://u.goal.com/2463400/2463492.jpg Yet some people will be here holding briefs for Rooney and citing his past exploits as if say if players are judged on their current form with past form, the likes of Ronaldinho still wouldn't be in Barca. Iranu!! Na una wey dey argue Rooney with them i dey vex pass for. Keep wasting y'all time. |

Dadehmola:So because you have a talisman in your team, you must be 10 points clear with 10 games to go or what ![]() I know we dropped crucial points in Rooney's absence, maybe against Blackburn or so, I can't remember clearly. Berbatov failed us in that match, not Rooney! Cut him some slack. |

elampiro:I didn't answer any question. I knew you won't answer the question because you know it will make nonsense of your argument and statement. Man Utd was first moved on top of Man City on the 24th Nov. 2012 with one point after we won 3 - 1 against QPR at Old Trafford while Man City drew against Chelsea. From this date no other team topped Man Utd till the end of the season. On the 1st Dec. 2012, Man Utd stretched/extended their lead against Man City by two points (three points lead) after Man Utd beat Reading 4 - 3 away. RVP scored in this particular match which responds to your statement that RVP was not involved in goalscoring when we stretched out lead over Man City. On the 9th Dec. 2012, Man Utd went away to Etihad Stadium and defeated Man City 3 - 2. RVP also scored in this game and Man Utd extended their lead by three points (six points lead) at the top of the league. This also condemn your statement that RVP was not involved in goalscoring when we stretched out lead over Man City. On March 16th when Rooney again scored a late goal to send us 15 points clear at the top of the league in a difficult game against Reading we didn't deserve to win after Everton beat City 2-0And what was the importance of this match if we had drawn it when we were already twelve points ahead of Man City? And you already said Man City lost their corresponding fixture 2 - 0 to Everton. At that point when Rooney came back, he was riding on the lead that RVP had made Man Utd established at the top of the table. As a matter of fact, Man City lost two games, drew two games and won four games gaining fourteen points out of available twenty four points during RVP's drought. Van Persie was on a goals drought. He only scored 1 goal in our two nil win over Everton during that period. That's about two monthsThis is another BIG FAT LIE. RVP's goals drought was between 30th January and 8th April 2013 which was eight-match stretch, not 13 as you have lied. RVP scored five goals in the last seven games after the drought. Your god Rooney played in four of these games and scored ZERO goals. Was that how we would've won the league? |

Elxandre:You shoulda read my post carefully.. I said we won 9 of the last 11 matches, meaning that his absence wasn't felt too much in that period. Since you have decided to hold on to the "if only he wasn't injured" hindsight analysis, I am also telling you that he had the opportunity to score against lesser teams In previous matches but failed woefully! |

LEAGUE TABLE ENGLAND After 19 games... 1. Arsenal 39, +15 6. Man Utd 30, +6 10. Liverpool 27, +1 14. Chelsea 20, -6 |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 8:45am On Dec 30, 2015 |
tess1:I have since won this argument. You're struggling really. I answered your questions again and again. We were only 5 points over City in January. In EPL 5 points lead in January is tantamount to being tied. We were 8 points above City the previous season in April and they recovered. In 2011/13, if we didn't stretch the lead from 5 points in January to 15 points in March, City would have again recovered. This was the period of real stretch, not 1 points, 2 points, 5 points in December. Do you realize we lost 8 points in there consecutive matches, that's how our 5 points would have disappeared if Rooney had not helped with goals during the period RVP went dry. |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Spy360(m): 8:57am On Dec 30, 2015 |
What's the fact? 1. Rooney was a great player for Man Utd. 2. Rooney is currently out of form - based on his former level, because he is still better than many players now. 3. A player doesn't go out of form for nothing, either he has become physically weak due to aging or the manager has not figured out how effective he can be used. 4. Rooney began losing it after SAF left - big case in point. 5. I BLAME THE MANAGER |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 9:03am On Dec 30, 2015 |
Tess1 I told you RVP scored 1 goal in 13 matches you said it's a lie. Now see the evidence. Secondly, if Rooney had not led in goal scoring to extend our lead from 5 points in January to 15 points in March, Man City would have caught us easier than they did the previous City. Particularly when we lost to City and Chelsea in conservative fixtures, then drew against West Ham two weeks later. That's 8 points dropped, not to talk of the ones we could have dropped in previous matches. .
