Mopolchi:
I asked him how is it possible to hear a spirit? He became bemused. God, the last time I checked, is a spirit we neither see, hear nor touch.
cheesy

You must be a comedian

Its either you are ignorant of the word of God - the bible - or you were half asleep while typing the above statement

He does have a point. We're too over-religious in this country yet so many atrocities are being committed all accross the regions.
he is so correct
Re: Religion Has Killed Rational Thinking Of This Country - Prof. Osundare by minwafor:
Prof has said it all. Some pastors brainwash and exploit the little ones that the masses have for their personal gain and aggrandizement. They will demand for 'seeds' ranging from money, cars and even lands and buildings before they pray for you. They will always insist that it is for you to challenge God.

The politicians will always tell you that they have a divine mandate despite rigging the election or assassinating their biggest rival.

Shame on them all. Judgement is waiting for everyone in the Last Day.

Another Pharisee and Sadusee in the arena, don't ask me why because in those days when you are yet unborn, they make a point ..He is not atheist, he believed in God like I do.But there are miracle I will never concured,he has given good example of how l drove my car from my villge to Victoria Island without tire and realms, yet am not flying. We are so gullible we can believe anything.

Seconded, unfortunately Nigerians will remain the sanctimonious hypocrites that they are. The "let God handle it syndrome" is so chronic that some fools are beginning to think Dansuki should be forgiven and set free.

I seem not to agree with you Prof.
Religion has not killed rational thinking, but many people are irrational and religious leaders are taking advantage of this the same way our politicians are doing.
The deceptive religious leaders are only telling them what they want to hear.
Its like calling the fool with a sweet name just to make him happy.

Everybody now sees Buhari as a religion fanatic....
The poor mallam said HE MAY CONSIDER BANNING HIJAB and some bamboozled went wild in support as if Buhari that faulted the initial crackdown on bokoharm on the premise of being abiti-islam will ever contemplate banning the Islamic veil.

Religion has really destroyed our sense of reasoning otherwise Buhari ought to have banned the damnable bomb-concealing veil without giving it a second thought

Very true!!! Any little thing, pray about it, fast about it, speak to your Pastor.
Our people have simply been brainwashed and they now lack their own individual thinking faculties!!!

Islam hasn't kill my rational thinking. It only consolidated by strong trust and believe in Allah S.W.T. Idont know about other religion anyway.
Of cos everybody will defend their religion. But the truth is that its all the same. Some people hijack religion to manipulate the population. Look at all the wars being fought today around the world, there is only one common denominator : ISLAM.

THANKS TO BOKO HARAM!
What do I mean?

I mean we no longer take chances like before no matter how religious. Nigerians have become wiser and more security conscious.

Definitely the man who made 200km without fuel in his car will dare not go to Sambisa forest to conduct a crusade he has become wiser and stop some fool's tale!

Hee, true. The 'hypocrisy' has become too obvious.

Any religion that professes to be concerned about the souls of men and is not concerned about the slums that damn them, the economic conditions that strangle them and the social conditions that cripple them is a spiritually moribund religion awaiting burial.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

There's a strong wave rising. African 'youths' are fed up of living miserably. They'll start asking questions. They might make mistakes along the way (IPOB). But, in Christian parlance, all these work together for good. This period in our history is planting seeds of doubt, yielding questions that desire answers, answers that are no longer being satisfied by sanctimoniously quoting Scripture. I doubt anyone is reading history as much as Africans are right now.

The Bible and the Quran are books written by a people of a different time, written for them and to them. No Igbo or Yoruba man penned a single text in those books. Those books limit our understanding of history and world politics to stories of David and Goliath and King Ahab.

Don't get me wrong. I have seen and have friends who are religious, and quite intelligent. The problem especially in Nigeria is we preach 'beliefs' as facts that should never be questioned or denied.

When people begin to 'know' themselves, they will first turn on their religious leaders, especially when 'GOD' begins to feel like a cage that traps the human spirit of freedom.

That the prof doesn't seem to like religion doesn't mean that religion is altogether bad, at least speaking for Christianity. Its the misinterpretation of the doctrines of religion that make it seem bad.

And yes, people can and do hear God.

Not long ago a pastor said he was between two cities and he discovered that the fuel in his car had run out. He actually checked and saw the fuel in the car was completely gone. But because of his act of faith and on the strength of his prayers, he was able to do two hundred miles on an empty tank! When he declared this testimony, people clapped and shouted “ Hallelujah!” I never heard anybody say how can?"
It's called a miracle.. Dummy! undecided
