How is EE not related to CS/IS yet only Math related to CS?? EE do enough math in their course to make the cross over. Many Universities & colleges have the CS and EE programs co-located - you wouldn't know that anyway.
It is more competitive to get into EE than any of the pure sciences, I am pretty sure you were rejected by EE settled for Math hence your apathy

young man....re-read yours post well...and read mine slowly......I can't claim to be better at engineering than an engineer just because I did fluid or soil mechanics as an elective course.....you need to be taught by your lecturers as you said.....we mathematicians are self-taught....we solve,learn,master and cram so many spaces,their properties,lemmas and theorems.....I bet in your whole life as engineering student,the only thing you crammed in mathematics is the almighty formula.....

Could remember my 100l days in university of Benin, when physics, mathematics and engineering students wrote the same maths exams. The number of'As' engineering students had outnumbered that of maths and physics students combined.

Guy your deduction maybe irrational. when we took ist year exam law students got more A's in Nigerian literature(it is a core course for the english students) more than the English students. it was so because the lecturer was lenient in marking our script bt vry strict for the English stds. believe it or not matheticians do well in maths more than the engineering students

I won't argue with you if you choose to question the veracity of my claims. However, I'll have you know that it is impossible for an engineering student to cover as much math and to the same depth and breadth as a math student. Secondly, to argue that one field is better than the other is utterly futile and baseless as no one field of study is truly better than another. They are all complementary at best.

The truth is that engineers can't do without a good knowledge of applied mathematics which is even the simpler part of mathematics . But when it comes to MATHEMATICS, guys that course is too broad....infact, it is the mother of all other applied and natural sciences . Talking about real and abstract maths, the likes of real analysis, complex analysis, algebra , topography , etc.....most if not all Engineering students can't cope with it because engineers only apply mathematical knowledge. During my NYSC, I served with a mathematics graduate and met a masters student of mathematics. Both of them opened my eye to the content of mathematics. Even some so called maths graduated are scared of some areas of maths like functional , real and complex analysis, algebra etc and will prefer to settle for modelling, ODE, Mechanics , etc. which are those areas we engineers deals with and think that that is all to maths. The only think I have against algebra and the likes is that they told me it just for aesthetics.....no real life application.....[/b]but any day anytime a good mathematics students should know mathematics more than a good engineering student[b]. Just that the impact of the engineers are more felt in the society.

bros are you always this clueless Lets face the fact here.Any body who read maths can do well in engineering vice versa.
The reason is simple; both courses entails the act of analytic thinking i.e u analyse situations and problems and think of the best possible solution using the available parameters.some mathematicians once applied for engineering but where not opportuned to get admitted.what this implies is that they have the ability but were denied the chance by circumstances.if engineering is that hard to study as you claimed how come they produce higher numbers of graduate each year compared to Mathematics
