Joe Igbokwe is on point! He re-echoes Prof. Chinua Achebe who stated somewhat pungently -""There is no doubt at all that there is a strand in contemporary Igbo behavior that can offend; by its noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness." - Chinua Achebe.

Victim mentality only reduces you to a wimp which every idiot would want to step on. And yes, Igbo issues have been the most common topics in the NL politics section since GEJ lost the election so it's not a coincidence if a frequent Politics section visitor talks more on Igbo issues. And also, I zoom out of my hole all the time because it irritates me to my soul whenever I see Igbos crying like babies and ridiculing a great tribe all because one Ijaw man lost an election. This has shamefully become a recurring factor which keeps eroding the respect for Igbos across Nigeria.
The irritation is just warming up and the crying isn't gonna stop anytime soon, and also in order to preserve your psyche why not skip the Igbo topics and stop the constant whinings and repetition of " Igbo this and that "on every thread. It makes you cheap. And who says the cry babes are not getting the attention they want whereby every news headlines will always have one or more things to say about/to Igbo people.

I do try to ignore the lamentations, but for someone who visits the politics section regularly, some of the stories and comments are just too painful to ignore undecided

Maybe I should leave the politics section for a while and focus on 'Romance,' I may find my peace there.

Basically, you can not tell them anything, stipulate any laws or policies to better the larger society without the same characters blackmailing you and turning the whole thing around to play victim and claim tribalism.

Some folks just can not be part of any same, rational and lawful society...

Reminds me of the quote below...

Igbos only fights for their individual gains. They seldom join social causes where they fight for the larger society

Igbos are not oriented to collectivism and fighting for what is good for the masses or for the nation; they fight only for what isgood for them individually

http://www.igbofocus.com/html/the_igbo_problem_can_be_fixed.html

I blame the state government for condoning such anti social behavior and attitude by pandering to their obnoxious, obstructive and lawless says.

How do you let a group of people hold back our collective development and advancement?

This is negligence and abdication on the part of the state since no person, group or entity is above the law, they in essence contributed to this insanity by these anti social elements...

If you arrest Hausa, Yoruba and ibo for the same offence, it's ok and they should account for their actions is always the rightful attitude from Hausa and Yoruba folks, but not ibo people, they'll shout and yell, they'll claim tribalism and victimization and marginalization.

How do you even coexist or live with such mentality and way of life?..

Chief ; I am an Igbo man. I don't work for the Lagos state government. Mr. Igbokwe is right.
We Igbo's must learn how to live and respect the laws of our host. We must learn to be accommodating and show respect for authorities in our host states.
Like it or not; we as Igbo's will never ever ever tolerate any other tribe or ethnic group coming to Igbo land to break our laws or way of life. I am an Igbo man and I know this to be true.
This our very disrespectful attitude towards non Igbos is the very reason why the rest of the country has been gradually pushing us out from governance.
Honestly Yourubas have been very generous to us.

Instead of calling our generous host names;
-Why don't we all hold our state governments accountable for the gradual death of Onitsha main market - a market that used to be the biggest in West Afria few years ago.

-Why don't we hold them accountable for the Nkalagu Cement Industry - a pride of Igbo states, that used to be way bigger than Dangote Cement of today.

- Why don't we hold them responsible for the gradual death of ABA- that used to be the Japan of Africa.

Let the truth be told.

Nobody has said that the Igbos must stay in Lagos. Like the saying goes, "if you must live in Rome, you must behave like the Romans". Lagos is the home of the Lagosians; you cannot tell them how to build or beautify their home land just the same way they cannot dictate to you in the east. The painful thing is that these demolitions are necessary to make Lagos the model town that it should be. It is people who do not want good change that will continue to desire the use of pit latrines when water system toilets are more hygenic and modern. Igbos should stop the siege mentality. Lagos is for all of us. They MUST obey the laws and government of the land.

Joe Igbokwe, you have spoken well

Wrapper tying cry babies. Always crying like bereaved market women.

There's a post on FP just now asking why the government is selling petrol to them at 130 and selling to the north at 87. The guy asked if the government is only subsidising the north. I can't for the life of me believe someone would think like that.

I ask myself, what type of repulsive thought process conceives all this kind of illogical talk/demands.

It beats me silly.

Pretty daft comment to make. This, and all other issues in recent times got nothing to do with d Yorubas! The state has a sitting govt, and they are elected, or hired to run d city; they don't go about knocking on every Yoruba ppl's door to ask for an approval. Perhaps ur just bigoted!

That glass ceiling can only be broken by Igbos themselves by properly strategising and building the right political ties. The glass ceiling can never be broken by accusing and antagonising everyone else, the glass ceiling can never be broken by isolating one's self.

FYI honey - That SOME Yoruba people like yourself or Ambode or your OBA or Dr Arriyo in Texas (not all Yoruba ofcourse, but some) hate Igbo people is Not Everyone else hating Igbo. For example - Igbos live next to Idoma people - no Problems there. They intermarry and trade.

FYI - Igbos like every other Nigerian groups have every right to be in Lagos - the former federal capital. Igbos are there in Lagos and have BOUGHT property (meaning the own) and made investments there worth billions.

LASTLY - If any Yoruba person chooses to please go and make Investments in the EAST - it is also your right. No one is stopping you.

This people self....... If they evil and they are convicted in the law court they will still call the judge names ( the judge is very tribalistic. He hate ndi igbo so tey he sent the son of the soil to prison, forgetting the fact that the guy in question is a at fault ) funny people. Even if is their mum that tell them the truth they will call their mama ( prostitute) A man that perceived every other being as low lifer is nothing but a low lifer himself........ I was talking to my igbo neighbor on sound engineer which is my job for 13years and this guy is a phone seller in Agbado area honestly I had to stop talking to him because He was so off point yet he was still telling me am wrong. Theoretically and practically I know within me that he is off point. Honestly I have to leave him and condemn him to his fate. At the end of the day ( speakers and Amplifier he went to borrow for birthday party all got burnt ) whose fault now. He called me but being whom I am I never open the door for him

Joe igbokwe is a foolish psycophant who will do anything to keep his job... one day he will be sacked and it will dawn on him what he did to himself

I am not an igbo man but I do reason and concur wth some agitations of the igbo people. They deserve more than is given to them considering the resources gotten to that part whch are very important to Nigerian economy.

If Igbo people will like to have their own nation, I think its cool, this would do the entire nation more good than bad. It would help us diversify, get other things done and embrace other sectors we had ignored in the past.

Hausas enjoyed the resources and proceeds of Nigeria more. Unfortunately, only the few oppourtuned big men does and pile up more selfishly. Realizing their doom if it happens, they don't wanna let go of Biafra.

What Biafrans don't understand which will happen if they break away is for another day.

Back to the issue on ground, we must be honest and avoid bias. The destruction was for good. We want the best Lagos. When Fashola began the work back then, we were umcomfortable, today we are happy he did.

Lotta provisions were put in plaace and more than enough time given to the traders to move yet they didn't. I support someone who said "If you can't use force, you'll get nothing done in Nigeria". So unfortunate, we're too sturbborn. Igbos should stop crying wolf and foul on this
