Who needs a state govt. job now that most states can even pay workers salary undecided

I will advise you to continue your job with the private firm that pays much better remuneration.

I wonder what makes you think there is no future with a firm that pays fat salary. Well , it all depends on your definition of 'future' undecided. According to me, future = Time and time = money.

Time na money grin

Well, in my opinion, continue with ur current job and hav savings 4 urself. If its FG job I would hav asked u to accept it, even if d pay is 30k cos d moni u will make b4 d end of d mnth might be doubled or tripled.... As 4 state, don't tink ur gonna be cool with it, especially wen ur abt to hav a family.. So sleep over it and make ur decision b4 monday.

ournaijablog:
stick with your current job and keep applying, 34k naira as salary now in this modern economic hardship mehn nah I wont advice you to take that job, states are laying off workers because there's no money to pay them, continue with this job and keep applying elsewhere God will answer you one day
I don't see future in my current job cause our expatriates are even leaving one by one. I don't really see how I can cut my expenses to fall within that 34k, unless there always I can make money apart from the salary.

that's exactly what am saying, you are earning a higher salary, and before there would be an increment in your state salary will take years after you might have gone for promotional exam, what if your enemy fails, that's till further notice. I do not think you can cope with this state salary, 1 you have to relocate, get a house and then I don't know how old you are and if you're contemplating marriage soon, but all in all I believe you know what to do
Re: Government Job And A Firm: Time To Pick One by onyowo(f): 4:34pm On Jan 29, 2016
Don't take the state government job jare, if it's a federal government job it's acceptable, but this state own is somehow, one day governor go decided no pay for 1 year and stuffs like that,so continue with ur current job and look for federal government job if u must work for government....

Time To Pick Between Goverment Job And Firm

Nairalanda your advice is highly require in my case. I am currently working with a consulting firm here in Lagos, with no leave, no allowance but the salary make sense. Late last year I just decided I need to leave the place because I see no future there, I began to attend interview for other job, also told a family friend that is a politician that I need job. Last week Sunday the family friend called that she has secured employment for me with a state government in* (One of North central state)
Immediate I began to make enquiry about the salary, from my enquiry I was made to understand is around 34k when I am currently earning multiples of that. My parents are advising me to take up the offer and resigned in my place of work, please Nairalanda should I? I was called today to come and take appointment letter on Monday.
I will advise u to stick with your current job, with prudent management of your income and a determined saving I think you will be fine...Am an electrical engineering graduate B.ENG, pls contact me if there are any available slot u know of, thanks, 08165217872..

If u dnt see future in dat job beyond dis yr, and u hv (huge) money biz, den take d state work because 34k in north central is 60k in lagos as wel.
Gudluk!

Re: Government Job And A Firm: Time To Pick One by wittyt98(m): 5:00pm On Jan 29, 2016
based on the salary I think its cus u re working under the state govt is why your salary ain't high at all for a degree holder the federal govt pays equal to what you're are currently receiving at the private firm to a normal degree holder nd even pays more than what your receiving to a degree holder that has connection ...... I just want you to look at the advantages and disadvantages as someone said earlier nd make a good choice ........... buh to me I would look for a federal govt job ....cus they re permanent nd you can decide and plan your future there based on whatever amount you re being payed as far as u ain't doing fishy things in the department that could get your appointment terminated .

My brother the blue print is clearly stated, you cant compare the both option, stick to your private firm its far better than t cool :Phe low earning state job.At a time like this when the country is going thru recession,Even Federal govt salary earners are being owed, talkmore of state..You should be looking at developing yourself in terms of bizness if u hv a fat account..Invest into something maybe transport, service renderingor any gud venture that can fetch more box and serve as extra income, this will serve as a fall back for d rainy day.No one will work and die an emloyee. We all aspire to be employers someday...

Well, well givt'm job or firm has no security. But my humble advice would be look for a business that would not need your presence: note not barbing salon or the sister hair dressing. Honestly and I mean no disrespect, if your sweet mom is till alive that's if she not active in any serious job, why not think about birth farm since its just 6 months or dog farming its just one year to harvest poppy she run this for you while you keep you current job. Like I said I mean no disrespect this idea thats my pastor is doing and he personally thought me and am waiting for next ppopy's to buy one for 150k and that mind. Mean while he is an accountant with blue chips copy as we speak his salary is 80k but every month he is worth 1m from Dogs poppy. This is a secret the chioce totally yours.

Don't try it ooo
do you hear state govs complaining about payments of salaries

if it a fed appointment would have been better
i work in a fed org
nothing special
since you are well paid where you are
better you remain and save money for the future
Cos you'll end up being frustrated

Re: Government Job And A Firm: Time To Pick One by Tuatara(m): 9:01pm On Jan 29, 2016
I'm amazed at how most people are looking down on government job. The truth is, it all depends on what the OP wants. If you want an opportunity to further your education and develop your career, then go for the government job. Don't be myopic, nothing stops you from leaving after you have acquired all you'll need for your next job, whether government or private. Look at the current economic situation in the country, job security is paramount to every worker. Government jobs are to a large extent secure. As long as you don't intend to remain there forever, go for the government job.

#don't forget, it's not only about the pay, job satisfaction matters a lot.

Bro, dont leave your present job for state govt job. It doesnt worth it. If only you can secure a federal job.... then you are good to go. But state? Ur future dey gonima hand. Ask Osun state workers

So the private sector job has no future, because you will not be getting retirement benefit but you are sure state governments that are presently unable to sustain themselves can guarantee you retirement benefit. Does Nigeria as a country have a sustainable future at the moment ? Oil revenue is drying up to power the parasitic states so start selling pampers, at least we are sure people wont stop having sex and making babies. Pampers will always sell.

Nice one bro. Honestly you'll enjoy kwara. Your salary don even finish on transport before month end sef in lagos. Think of Job security and pension. Also try plan yourself well and be prudent.
