mrMeen:why did u put igbo as number 7? U should have put us as number 250. Igbo population is thrice that of yoruba in nigeria. Is it because u guys count yorubas in Benin Republic and Togo as yorubas in nigeria during census? |
| Re: The Fourth Largest Ethnic Group In Nigeria by meforyou1(m): 3:59pm On Feb 07, 2016 |
kaakulator4:they lie all the time. And I follow them thread by thread and puncture the lies one after the other. Some good examples of their bold faced lies 1. Lagos is yorubaland 2. Ogun has more industries than igbo states 3. Most sophisticated 4.Most accommodating 5. Most educated 6. Religious tolerance. I didn't even get the opportunity to puncture that lie. We are all witnessing the religious war secondary school children are waging in the state of Osun. Where altra islamist ayatollah aregbesola decided to send hijab Muslims to christain missionary schools. |

factually speaking, neither the Tivs (munchi) or the Ijaws (izon) are the fourth largest,............the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria is the Fulani (Fulfulde), followed by the Kanuri (beri-beri), then the Ibibio, and then the Tiv...........the Ijaws come behind the Tivs..............infact, the Ijaws have always come behind the Tivs in all early census..................Ijaws became the fourth largest ethnic group over night when Ebere became president. 1931 CENSUS Hausa ... ... ... ... ... ... .... ...3,604,016 Ibo ... ... ... ... ... ... .... ... ...3,172,789 Yoruba ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...3,166,164 Fulani... ... ... .... .... .... .... 2,026,189 Kanuri /or Beri-Beri) ... ... ... 930,917 Ibibio ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .749,645 Tiv (or Munshi) ... ... ... ... ...573,605 Edo ... ... ... ... ... .... ... ... ..507,810 Nupe ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .326,017 Ijaw ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..156,324 source: http://libsysdigi.library.illinois.edu/ilharvest/Africana/Books2011-05/3064634/3064634_1934/3064634_1934_opt.pdf 1963 CENSUS Hausa ... .... .... .... .... ...11,653,000 Yoruba ... ... ... .... .... ...11,321,000 Igbo ... .... .... .... .... .... ..9,246,000 Fulfulde ... ... ... ... .... ... 4,784,000 Kanuri .... ... ... ... ... ... ..2,256,000 Ibibio ... ... ... ... ... ... .. ..2,006,000 Tiv ... ... .... .... .... .... ... 1,394,000 Ijaw (Izon) .... .... .... ... .1,089,000 Edo .... .... .... .... ... .... ...955,000 Nupe ... .... .... .... .... ... ..656,000 Urhobo .... .... .... .... .... ..639,000 Igala .... ..... .... .... ... .... 582,000 source:http://www.nigerianmuse.com/20101205024305zg/sections/general-articles/ethnic-minority-groups-in-nigeria-current-situation-and-major-problems-by-abdul-raufu-mustapha/ 1952 CENSUS: Ijaws were not even considered Edo.................468,501 Fulani.............3,040,736 Hausa.............5,548,542 Ibibio..............766,764 Igbo...............5,483,660 Kanuri............1,301,924 Nupe..............359,260 Tiv..................790,450 Yoruba...........5,046,799 source: compiled from GoN, 1952a, Population Census of Northern Region of Nigeria 1952; GoN, 1952b, Population Census of Western Region of Nigeria 1952; & GoN, 1953, Population Census of The Eastern Region of Nigeria 1953 http://www.afrimap.org/english/images/documents/UNRISD%20Nigeria%20Mustapha.pdf The goon tonyebarcanista and the imp kyase......take note |

meforyou1:1.Whose land is Lagos.igboland? 2.Do we really need to argue this? How is this a lie? 3.I don't know whether that's true or false 4.Can you let us know the most accommodating? Can you try all these no man's land nonsense in any part of Nigeria? I'll let you answer that.Take away Lagos,do you know any region that has more non-indigenes than the other 5 Sw states? 5.Most educated.Once upon a time but not anymore unfortunately 6.Once upon a time as well but not anymore unfortunately All the things I said are once upon a time are my own opinion sha. Some Yorubas might not agree with me |
| Re: The Fourth Largest Ethnic Group In Nigeria by vorigan: 4:15pm On Feb 07, 2016 |
Kyase:And which ones took place when you were born that outlined ethnic composition like those ones? Don't argue for arguing sake, argue to learn. Past census give you a projection of what the future holds |

vorigan:Good historical information. Before census and population inflation became a political tool, Nigerians knew who was who! Today, any census figure that doesn't correlate with other biophysical data from the same location remains a farce. Why is the government afraid of letting people indicate their tribes on the census forms? Why doesn't birth and death rates correlate with census figures? Why doesn't school, church, mosque,or other social gathering enrollments back up census figures? Why are census figures not consistent with previous figures, even when there was no natural or political disasters like war, famine, or disease? There will never be accurate census without adequate back up means such as taxing every countable adult over a certain age. |

mandarin:I was liking your statement until you said yorubas re more than igbo in the north. Pls don't talk like novice if you haven't been there. However, if igbo re the 2nd or first?only God knows cos our population census in nigeria in 2006 didn't calculate the real statistic of igbo population. But looking at it from this angle, any state you go to whether West, north or south ndigbo is the 2nd population in each state apart from indigenes. There is no state in nigeria that s dominated by other tribe except igbos. Go and do your research well and take your time to travel round the 36 states in nigeria. Cc tonychristopher |

IGBOPRINCE:How can you say there are more Igbos than Yorubas in the north. Are you okay? Lets wait for the Northerners here to come settle this I don't need to say much.Mind you this is someone who's very familiar with the North so be careful before you tell lies |

kaakulator4:just take it from me, those coneheads lie a whole lot. And they are backbitters and so deceitful. That's why one yoruba girl swore that rather than her marry a yoruba guy, she will remain single forever |

Kyase:A wikipedia link ??......you are kidding, Nigeria has not had a census outlining ethnic composition in decades!!!!word of advice, wiki is not a good source of information......it can be edited by even you |

All my life to be honest I have never met an Ijaw person both in Nigeria and abroad. Efik/Ibibio are more visible wherever you go. |
| Re: The Fourth Largest Ethnic Group In Nigeria by orisa37: 4:51pm On Feb 07, 2016 |
Here you are: HausaFulani is 29percent. Yoruba is 21 percent. Igbo(Ibo) is 18 percent. Ijaw is 10 percent. Kanuri is 4 percent. Ibibio is 3.5 percent. Tivs is 2.5 percent. Others 12 percent. |

| Re: The Fourth Largest Ethnic Group In Nigeria by IGBOPRINCE: 5:02pm On Feb 07, 2016 |
meforyou1:oga, the truth is that we can't really say if igbos re more populous than yorubas or yorubas re more populous than igbo. It s only God that knows. Remember the civil war and the riot/crisis that happened in north and nigeria really reduced the igbo population. But God is with us, he multiplied us in sevenfold and yet we bounced back. Concerning who owned lagos state? They re the aworis and the eguns but these two tribes trace their origin from ogun state esp the aworis. They speaks yoruboid dialect just like the way ikwerres speaks igboid dialect. Some believes they re yorubas while some do not believe. Just like igbos telling us portharcourt is an igbo town cos it s own by ikwerres and obigbos and the yorubas knows this statement as true. The same way lagos city is own by the yorubas(awori), no dispute about that. Is also the same way the igbo(ikwerre) owns portharcourt city. Pls nothing like no man's land here. |
| Re: The Fourth Largest Ethnic Group In Nigeria by meforyou1(m): 5:06pm On Feb 07, 2016 |
mandarin:my friend, can u pls just shut d hell up. Typical yoruboidoid always wallowing in ignorance. We are talking of Nigerian ethnic nationalities, you are here saying yoruba is the highest ethnic nationality in africa. If it comes to africa, yoruba won't even smell 1st hundred. Where are hausas and fulanis that are all over West Africa. Where's swahili in East Africa? Where are the Arabs in North Africa? Where's zulu in southern africa? Even the hutus and tutsis in central/East Africa are more populous than yorubas. Even the afrikans in southern africa are more populous than yorubas |

Ayam waiting to hear ur lies. No child's play In west , we don't need to go there cos we have dominated the whole places. So mr kakulator, I am waiting |

meforyou1:Don't mind him. Even in West Africa, we hav d Mandingoes which spread across several countries frm Senegal to Gambia, Guinea, Sierra-Leone, Mali and Ivory-Coast. Dat explains why Mandingo's names such as Camara, Toure, Koulibaly, Foddi, Sekou, etc, ar very common in those countries! |
