Compliance:First of all Walden is not a highly acclaimed University (for profit) that you shouldn't have even clicked on. Next, did you go to their school system and officially drop-out ?Next thing is, in all honesty... They can't do anything to you... You were coerced into enrolling, so you can get out of this debt.... But just know that you might be placed under red flag when trying to apply for visa to Yankee... Shey they wan send debt collector to Naija.... Just ignore them.... They are fond of doing that..... Even Nigerian students here drop out and they don't get harassed for money..... All they do is withhold your certificate. |

Thank you. I would have preferred paying a portion before the start of the course, I feel I was lured into this, because of the scholarship and grant possibility as I was told. If they had requested me to pay before the textbooks were sent and classes started, it would have been a different story altogether. YACAA: |

Compliance: ![]() How is this possible? Perhaps you haven't heard of electronic signature. All those "by clicking yes" or signing up for something, you have expressly or indirectly accepted the terms and conditions. You definitely signed up for something!!! It isn't till you sign with pen on paper that it implies you haven consented to a contract. Perhaps if you visit a lawyer, he may explain the legal aspect of this international business quagmire you have gotten yourself into!!! ![]() |

All universities issue admission letter before starting of course work. Am sure you received the admission letter, acknowledged it and started the course maybe after paying a little installment, took their textbooks, Then along the way you stopped taking lectures and failed to inform the school all for you to come online here now to ask for advise on how to swindle your way out. This is one of the criminality been associated with us. Go and pay them what you owe them, period! |

I do not see any big deal in this issue as far as you are living in Nigeria. Do you know how many thousands of dollars I owe all these fake universities? You can ignore them or you play along, they are not going to do a damn thing. It's just mere threat. No de ask mumu questions like say u no be Nigerian. Btwn, has any of you got a meaningful job with all these useless online certificate. They are after your money. People no de use their heads again. Op don't bother yourself, just ignore them thieves. When has it become a crime to drop out of school? They should be after your certificate and not your money. And for that fact, they are scammers. That yeye school is not even certified. And truth is, it is located somewhere in Pakistan but they claim to be UK based. If you like fall mugu. |

Compliance:As long as you took classes with them, you're liable to pay the bill for that quarter, doesn't matter if you took only 3 classes or whatever. You should've known what you signed up for. You definitely have to pay up...no two ways about it. |

Compliance:O boy! I'm afraid you do owe the school truly and you might have to pay unfortunately. Most times when you register like that, you usually have like 2 weeks deadline to drop all of the courses but since you did not do that, then you owe the school - does not matter if you completed tests/exams/classes or not. Try sending a mail to the registrar of the school and explain to them. But I am afraid they might not be able to do much. |

Get a lawyer to write a reply. Include all correspondence between you and the school. Do not keep quiet about this matter then see where it goes from there. |

THE National Universities Commission (NUC) has warned Nigerians against patronising online universities and other degree awarding institutions operating online saying any certificate obtained from such institutions is not recognised. Speaking at a press conference yesterday at the Headquarters of the Commission, the Director, Information and Public Relations, Ibrahim Usman Yakasai stressed that degrees obtained online are not accepted in the country. He said: “Nigeria will not recognise online degrees. Online degrees are not accepted in Nigeria at the moment.” Yakasai also warned Nigerian students and parents against patronising Maryam Abacha American University, Niger Republic, noting that the Commission has been inundated with enquiries from some Nigerian students who had been offered admission in the university. He disclosed that the concerned students were offered admissions on part-time basis with a graduation time of four semesters for programmes like Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health, among others. In Nigeria, the duration for a full time degree programme is not less than three years for direct entry and at least six years for part-time, while professional programmes in Science, Engineering and Health Sciences including Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health are not offered on part-time basis in Nigeria. Also, all part-time cross boarder education in Nigeria is not allowed,” he explained. Yakasai further lamented that the university admits Nigerian students who do not have the basic requirements to gain admission into the nation’s tertiary institutions in addition to running courses such as Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science on part-time basis, which, according to him, is not acceptable. While disclosing that Ghana National Accreditation Board (NAB) has banned 53 tertiary institutions in Ghana some of which Nigerian students run to from advertising and admitting students due to lack of qualification, Yakasai noted that all countries are at liberty to accept or reject certificates from any foreign university they felt is operating below their acceptable standards. We wish to restate that as the only quality assurance agency for universities in Nigeria, the NUC is maintaining its stand that degrees from Maryam Abacha University will not be accepted in Nigeria,” he said. Lol! Guy next time pls read the T&C and ask necessary questions before doing anything. Meanwhile the people bothering you now happen to be a law firm in Lagos engaged by both Walden university (which have no actual campus btw) and University of Liverpool for debt recovery. They'll get commissions for whatever recovery they make. I'd like to know if you've made any payment at all before you commenced studies. It's usually their policy to take library fees before sending books. Otherwise, seriously ignore them ![]() |

My man/woman Pls do not waste your time or money contacting any lawyer or police. The school and their agents cannot do anything to you, only send email. You can confidently pick up their phone call if u have time to waste. This is simply a non-issue. But, based on the fact that u even opened this thread and ur replies. U r most likely a maga. |

[quote author=bigtt76 post=42762235] Thank you aunty! ![]() ![]() Can one use such degree as in your case to pursue a conventional PhD program in Nigeria? What is the general acceptability out there esp in the labour force? Please could you please say something about the cost, mode of paymennt and modulation as one can have a clue as to what he should be expecting in this online Unis? Finally apart from Liverpool Uni, which other Uni do you recommend for 'low income' earners that is widely recognised? Thank you ones again ma'am! I bow! #drops the mic and quietly goes back to ma sit while paying rapt attention# ![]() |

AyeeIdris:sure you go vex but while the work was going on, you ought to have checked sup with the work n make a few corrections if need be..... The school ought to have noticed an online student's account was dormant and should also have contacted him to know why he stopped and afterwards follow due process but instead, they decided to relax and collect money for what they didn't work for.... |
