What he really needs to earn first is mental preparedness. Irrespective of how much he earns, if this is amiss, the cash is never enough.

In all honesty, it isn't possible to fix a particular sum. Some guys start families with as low as 20k, others are millionaires before starting up. Therefore, their expenses, choices and degrees of sacrifices are different.

From a personal point of view though, I think anything from #50,000 is decent enough to start up and prepare for a family of 3. Although the sacrifices involved are quite tempting, but insignificant in the long run.

Man and wife may manage as hard as they could but still live comfortably with the said amount, but the real sacrifice comes when the baby is coming. Ante natal bills, maternal preferences and preparations, and finally, the baby itself; the new expenses will comfortably dwarf what man and wife have been on previously because at this point, there are little options available.

With this harsh economy that's facing us, I will say between the range of 50-100k for any reasonable & responsible young man.

yes ofcourse, u save & plan towards it. Btw, I'm not the white wedding kind of guy. Court wedding preferably.


For example, if I'm earning 50k monthly. I will discipline myself to be able to save 30k if I'm going to plan for marriage. My marriage budget will be at least 200-250k.

It doesn't matter what you earn. If you cannot love and maintain your wife, as you would love and maintain that your dream brand new flashy car, then you are unfit for marriage.......

Women are like car. It depends on the product of the car and cost of maintenance.... There are very rich single overripe ladies that only need the ring and a man to represent as married they cost almost nothing to maintain.... Also there are broke high taste ladies who you will have to go broke before they know you are their man.

There is no fixed woman and so there is no fixed amount...

When a man is ready he should go ahead, as long as he has a job that brings in steady money.He just has to avoid elaborate wedding.That is what usually kills the couple even some big bois and gals.Simple wedding, low key, pack ur things and go home.Rather than spend 3-5m on a 4 hrs event.Hogwash!!! Save half the money and still keep some ppl happy.

Well people are different you can not make your own taste for everyone and speak for everyone.... Marriage is once for life... And probably the happiest some will ever be so they can begin it on low key because they may have kept themselves for years for it and it would be grossly dissatisfactory to still remain on a financial leash... Cash differs. The man is not the only party... What if you Love low key and the humble girl you date hates it and wants to at least show off her man for once in her life... Would you deprive her of that and break up with her. Would you. Many who can not wait for marriage end up marrying into frustration. Let's consider that all fingers, heart, rings, families and belief systems are not equal
