EKITI State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has raised the alarm over the imminent collapse of the county’s economy, saying the Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government was yet to show any sign that it has any solution to the dwindling economy.

The governor, who called on Nigerians to prevail on President Buhari to stay at home and govern the country, said it was the height of insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians that the president, who just returned from trips to France and United Kingdom, would again be travelling to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar from February 20 to 27, spending seven days out of the country in what they called “three-nation tour.”
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor lamented the lack of a clear cut economic direction from the Federal Government, saying “it is worrisome that President Buhari does not have any economic team and there is no policy direction yet, despite spending close to nine months in office.”

He said the implication of the development and resultant effects are human right abuses, escalation of prices of goods and services, daily retrenchment of workers, folding up of businesses, states finding it difficult to pay workers’ salary and the Federal Government not being able to prepare what he termed common budget.

The governor said with President Buhari, Nigeria is definitely “having a square peg in its round hole.
“Dollar has gone double since Dr Goodluck Jonathan left office, with United States Dollar exchanging for N350 as of today. Foreign reserve is declining on a daily basis, Boko Haram insurgents have come back, even stronger than they were when Buhari assumed office and Nigerians are now being made to pay more for electricity that is not available for them to use.

“Most importantly, prices of foodstuffs, newsprint, medicine, among others have gone over the roof. Should we still continue to attribute all these to Jonathan or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)?

“Even former Central Bank Governor (CBN) Governor and Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, is saying President Buhari’s anti-corruption stance is totally inconsistent with the forex regime he supported and that the Federal Government forex policy encourages corruption and rent-seeking.”
While urging the president to focus more on the dwindling economy and stay at home to attend to critical issues, Governor Fayose said “travelling from one country to another won’t solve any of our problems, because I have not seen where foreigners assist any nation to develop.”

We need solutions and we need HELP.
Buhari please tell us how you intend to fix our econs or resign.
$1 would be 420 Naira by end of this month from all look of things. No press conference or what so ever. You kept all of us on suspense, we can't breath, we can't think straight.
I stand for my country and not any political party. I expect the positive change you promise and if you can't deleiver and you can't tell me how you intend to change things please resign. I love my country more than I love you.

Foolishness is when Fayose complains about Buhari but was supporting Jonathan who:

1. Borrowed to pay salaries when oil was still over $65/barrel

2. Borrowed when Nigeria was selling more than 2 millions barrel of crude daily

3. Could not manage surplus but wasted our resources

4. squandered all our reserves that Obasanjo saved and left power when reserve was $28b from $45b

5. could not save anything in the reserve when oil was sold for $120/barrel

Fayose should blame himself and his PDP members not Buhari :

Who has not borrowed to pay salaries

Who has been fighting insurgency with focus and strategies (and he is winning)

Whose first fiscal year has not started (budget is yet to be passed into law)

who has restored our confidence in international community

Fayose should just tell us what he has achieved for almost 2 years in power. The last time I checked, Fayose was in Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Abuja, Rivers, etc within 7 days wearing Ojuju Calabar's constume to Abakaliki just 2 days ago. He should stay in Ekiti and build the economy of Ekiti too.

Fayose is only affirming what we already know. The Government of the day is not in denial of these facts.
As a responsible Government they know they are expected to re-energize the Economy, hence the window
of an election every four years.

Some may not really like the man; Fayose, but he says it as it is. I am an ardent supporter of the President, but
I am beginning to get irritated by the President's frequent travels. Though necessary as the Government has explained,
let Mr. President at-least listen to the voice of the people for now, and be actively present at home at-least for a Month,
and seek the help of Nigerians at home. I can confidently say Nigerians have the best of "heads" on the planet; though debatable, but
that is my take.

Solution.....industries.

It is no longer news that Nigeria's economy is in trobule. The news is...it is just now that we realise it is in trobule.

The genesis of our problems started when we got colonised. We became a supplier of raw materials to British industries. When we got independent....we kept on doing the same. And when agriculture became less profitable in the 1970's....we switched to oil.

The honest truth is that we have to change our economic mindset. We must become a producer economy.....and not a raw material exporting economy. This means developing industries that would export goods abroad (Innoson should, for example be exporting cars to Europe, America and Asia). It means developing the workforce that would run these industries. It means spending more on science and tech, and it means paying more taxes and dealing strongly with corruption.

Ofcourse...the road is going to be hard. Take Japan. Back in the 1950's...no one would buy a Toyota in the US. Today....the US drives Toyotas. It takes time to become a good manufacturing society....but we have to go down that road rather than rely on oil whose price we cannot determine.

So....PMB and Nigerians...what would it be.? Oil dependency....or industrial superpowerdom?

[size=13pt]What do you expect when you put a man who had no educational Qualifications as president.

When it took a long time to appoint Ministers.
When they get appointed they are mainly northerners.

In the Budget you spend N40 billion looking for Oil in the North when Oil prices are nose diving.

In the Budget you allocate more money to the State Clinic than to all the University Teaching Hospitals put together

The Naira is nose diving.

Workers are not being paid

WHY WONT THERE BE PROBLEMS
THIS IS CHANGE

Fayose better tell him o.
Buhari isnt concern about the sufferings of Nigerians.
He prefares to travel so he can solve the Worlds problem and then visit Nigeria from time to time.
Instead of him to let diplomats do the travelling so that he can have time find drastic solution to our dwindling economy.
Maybe he is running away to hide his cluelessness. smh
