Their airport, their country, their rules, I guess if one wants to get in then play by the rules. They're just doing their job whether overzealous or not. With God on your side If you have dotted your I's and crossed your T's then no cause for alarm. Mind you the same JFK has occasional issues too. It's been reported on this thread.

When u've dotted ur T's and crossed ur I's and still get delayed for 4-10 hrs, den dia is cause for alarm. Even Lax takes pple for extensive secondary inspection, and I've also read of the JFK incidences...but Houston and Chicago has always stuck out as sore thumbs...u even narrated ur friend's experience in houston and ur sis in law's experience in Chicago and swore never to step foot in ORD...no one is contesting the fact that the power to let u into their country lies in the hands of the cbps, my question is are d cbp's in Houston working with different laws than others?

okay guys..wanted to wait to be debited before confirming the Form A stuff.

I intend using Dr La and WHMC. WHMC does not accept wire transfers, so I got Dr La's wire transfer details.

I went to Stanbic IBTC on Thursday for the processing.

Documents required:
a) Letter of reference from specialist doctor, or specialist hospital in Nigeria -
b) Completed Form A
c) Passport, visa and air ticket
d) Correspondence with overseas specialist doctor stating the cost of treatment etc.

Hope this helps cc: @biollar1 @chloe7 @kemo88 @beautyx5

Hi ma,

God bless you greatly for this information.

Currently about to use Unity bank to process the Form A. The letter from your specialist doctor or hospital, Was it from your regular obgyn? Or just from your hospital? And what did it say exactly?

Thanks so much as you respond.

Cheers!

Documents required:

b) Completed Form A
c) Passport, visa and air ticket
d) Correspondence with overseas specialist doctor stating the cost of treatment etc.

Filled the form; requested for payment of doctors fees only (paid $3,000) and included my doctor's bank details. The requirement doesn't state just hospitals can be credited. It only states that it must be for medical treatment. So, I guess if you can provide your doctors correspondence (with his letterhead) and they can match it to the bank details. I guess they can also check the doctor online if they want.

Got debited the ffg this morning: Transaction: 598500; telex charge: 4000; offshore charge: $25 = 4987.50; Bank commission 0.5% = 3142.13
Total was 610629.6 which came to about N203.5 per $.

So you can actually pay for just doctor or doctor and hospital if your hospital accepts transfers.

Noticed in the CBN requirement page that if the doctor includes cost of maintenance, that cost of treatment can be made payable to the hospital and the cost of maintenance to the applicant if the applicant is an outpatient; but I did not explore that oh. Only paid doctor's bill.

Also, I had initially gone to UBA and they said they dont process Form A for childbirth. GTB said I'll be on a wait list for at least a month. Went to stanbic after @onlineise post on Wednesday, and it got processed in 48hours. Thanks so much @onlineise you are a life saver!

Pls remember to collect your telex copy from the bank as proof of payment

Hope this helps cc: @biollar1 @chloe7 @kemo88 @beautyx5

Nice one @mrsbw glad i could contribute my own qouta to the ministry.

The letter was from my regular obgyn who I had been using for my antenatal, and it was typed on the hospital letterhead. Just a letter addressed to your US doctor confirming you as a patient and referring you. It could include basic info about your pregnancy, EDD etc. There's really no specific format

Thanks a lot for your quick reply...I highly appreciate it but please indulge me a bit further...

Are these the entire costs incurred? As in for the doctor, anesthesiologist, et al? Secondly are these discounted prices for self pay or the initial prices quoted to you?

Yes those are the entire costs. The hospital provides the doctor and it's included in the package. So you go to the hospital to see your doctor. It may not be the same doctor all the time but they all have your records that they can refer to.

Anesthesiologist rate is included in the cost of the epidural.

Except the hospital requires further tests, all you have to pay is what i've listed. We had to do two non stress tests as the doctors were a bit concerned with the baby's health. That cost us an additional $500.

The prices are the discounted self pay customers.

The pediatrician's visit post delivery costs $95 per visit and you'll probably need about 2 or 3 depending on how long post delivery you're staying in the US. If you want your baby vaccinated, it's covered in that cost.

Hope this helps

I agree I said all that but still it still doesn't change the fact that it's their rules, their country. It's not our right to be there but a privilege . Na we carry our legs go apply for visa. So we play by their rules. And if unavoidably you have to go through those POEs then be ready to take anything you see. Meanwhile IAH was and will be a breeze for some smiley

i Think you should meet a travel agency. I know some can collect 10k from you and issue you a confirmed ticket even if the bank decides to investigate, your ticket status will show confirmed meaning you have paid. afterwards, they will cancel the ticket.

Hmmmmm, where do I start?
Firstly, @ Zumabeezi (sorry if I got that wrong). Thanks for noticing. I appreciate.
As for my PTA, I no get oooo after all the hussle. I changed money with BDC @ 354.
Before leaving I asked a custom relative who told me we are only entitled to 5k now per person......

Pls so i'm a bit confused wt d above statement....does that mean we can no longer travel wt funds above $5k as opposed to the previous $10k? What happens to those who go through POE where the CBP officers prefer to see more cash at hand? If one travels with more funds but does not declare at Nigerian customs, wont that pose a problem when you then declare total funds at POE?

Pls anyone who understands this process should kindly advise as i need to quickly decide if i need to deposit funds to foreign acct instead of going through Nigerian custom wahala. Tx
