Extracting such data from the WAEC database will not take up to 5 mins, its a simple run of SQL command and export the data, that is what they want to do with 1.8m hmmm...

Give me access to your database and i will do it for free undecided

So what WAEC is saying now is that they have to process/analyse the results. I thought they brought out stats of results of the states which was released to the press which means all the data is somewhere already and has been analysed.

How hard is it then to determine the best students from each state using the same data or is it not a computerised process?

*sighs*

One word: BUREAUCRACY!

It will be faster if waec was a one man business. But alas being a public institution means the request has to go through all relevant approvals before formal response

My brother, these are mails that one can easily mark as important so that superiors can carry out due diligence on them without waiting for almost 8 working days before replying. These kids really need morale boosters.

Sanchase you read my mind. But how are we even sure WAEC has a database to start with or they still store information on paper? We are in trouble in this country...

"Civil service is killing Nigeria,

An independent private company requested for the name of best graduating/performing students and you re asking for money to process the nonsense data.

Where're we headed on this country.

WAEC should provide explanation for this if it actually happened.

And to think that a mail dated 8th December is being replied on 20th December shows how complacent those guys can be" Bugatie
Processing data=selecting the names of firends, family or anyone who can afford to pay for his name to be there

You're not making sense here. Corruption at play and you're blaming the President for this when all he has been doing is fighting corruption. The day you people begin to have sense is the day you start reasoning well.

You see why I said our youths are listless and directionless

This is the kind of news that should spark up a media frenzy. This is the kind of news that should trend on Twitter and Facebook until WAEC realises her stupidity and calls herself to order.

But such news is posted here and there is virtually no reaction over such an outrage.

But if it is useless things that will make no impact on our lives in the long-term as individuals or as citizens of this nation, people will be ranting and making all sorts of silly comments and remarks just to be noticed.

No wonder our country is this way.
We get the kind of leaders we deserve and no wonder the older generations don't take us serious because we're such a bunch of unserious individuals.

Leaders of tomorrow, my foot.

N1.8 Million service charge or consultation fee?!
Lol. Nigerian students 'haff' suffered. smiley
But, then come to think of it.
WAEC isn't a Nigerian thing... but West African.
The question we should ask is if other West African nations charge, alike? If yes then, our gross should be on the governing body -WAEC.

Well, EDOBOX requested top scorers from all states of the federation plus FCT.

I just did the maths, 1.85M = 50k per state.

It looks like there's a fixed charge to verify results per state. I personally don't think it's too bad and I don't think they should send it out for free.

I beg to differ.

Pls don't insult me and yes, I passed maths at WAEC
well I quite agree with you.but this charge is way too much.i do not expect it to be free...but that's close 2mill we talking about.

This is wrong and WAEC should have known better. We are talking about an NGO who want to empower individuals with academic excellence. The information should have been provided free. What overhead is it adding to WAEC as a government establishment?

I think everyone is being carried away with the quest for money. Don't be surprised if people started asking to be paid before greeting, the way we are going.

This shouldn't have happened.
