Once it's about funding, don't waste time comparing states. Nothing is as good as school paying your tuition. After your degree you can move. That's exactly what I did.

Yeah that makes sense.

Wakanow prices are slightly expensive. There is a trick they used to mention here earlier about booking flight tickets, maybe you try it. and paying in naira is OK. the price you see is what you pay. well time still dey, wait till offers for other schools trickle in. The best i can give u is my opinion while u make ur choice. I applied for Public health. What course are you going for?

Chemistry / Biochemistry. Thanks for the advice, man. So your sis went to an Ivy. Na una get mouth ooo. Are you looking to an Ivy too? This Fall ryt?

The highest degree when I was there in 2013 was MS. Tuition and cost of living there are really affordable. GA is competitive but you can get it so far you're in good academic standing. NM generally have few cities and are far apart. It's a white dominated state, so don't think of see more than few blacks. There is lot of snow in the winter and sun in the summer.

Alright... thanks

She transferred from Oberlin to Columbia... And d funding was not full. But she did an internship with AIG,got retained after grad... But she too like book so she decided to do her masters. Also one tin esp for those applying for jobs, some org look out for some things asides academics & "skills". Part of the AIG requirement was having a valid drivers license active for about a year plus knowing how to drive(even tho they pay for ur flights and accommodation) its part of their requirements. I applied to schools in Texas & California +canny. And yeah GRE is partly for visa, funding & also i need to slowly work my way back into classroom mode..so u digg... Most of the programs i applied for are researched based so having a research experience(scoring an A) in UG or research interests waves off GRE & some didnt require it..

Ah I see. She get mouth! Texas is still very southy o. But I guess u have ur reasons. I hear cali is even costlier to live in than NY. I had a very challenging experience with my canny apps last year but I'm sure yours will be better. When it comes down to choosing, would you prefer US or Canada?

Yeah it depends. But funny thing is i made my mind up about US after watching one video of Chimamanda speaking at a graduation. It sort of made me make my mind up. Economic reality its canada but i did a good research about the schools so its def US. But for PhD i think Canada is a better destination for applicants... That my canada application is prayers, but thanks for the good words! Looks like you be efiko, you applying for PhD too i guess

With that cgpa, you should be able to do better in GRE if you can re write it, else, that takes you no where. Best!

To be honest, 277 is such a poor score that i'm sure no school would accept you for admission with such score. The least score one can obtain in GRE is 260, that is if you did not write anything, which is equivalent to 0 on a scale of 100 and the highest score is 340, which is equivalent to 100 on a scale of hundred. And you scored 277/340 which is equivalent to 20/100 or so. Let's be honest, you think a school would have such low requirement of 20/100 for admission?

My suggestion to you is to retake the GRE test and this time be serious about it. The GRE test is something that requires, at least, a month of intense preparation and there is a trick to taking it. Also, you would not know the doors a good GRE score opens up for you before and even after you arrive America.

Thank you very much for your response. I know i can do better, but the quantitative section is worrisome. I am very poor when it comes to Mathematics.

Oh! Sorry about that.

I think they say on their website that you can re-apply after seven (7) days? Or isn't that workable?

And by the way, did they give any reason(s) for the denial?

Good luck Sean622!

Thanks a lot 2bigfrancis21. I know my scores are really low. Had 144 in Verbal, 133 Q and 4.5 Analytical writing. The truth is i had less than a month prep. I can retake the test but the Quantitative section is really scary and when it comes to Mathematics, on a scale of 1/10, i am between 1&3. With that said, how long do you think i need to study to improve on it, and what are the tricks to acing it? Between, i am looking at Strategic Communication Program , Public Administration, targeting fall admissions and most of the schools have April to May deadlines.

Lots of schools don't require GRE. Visit departmental webpages.
