Re: What I Saw In An Airline Today. by linearity: 7:31pm On Feb 28, 2016
OP, you get mind self....seeing that, you still went ahead and use your life play calucalu by flying with them.

If an Airline can belatedly and openly display this level of carefree attitude in things in the open that we can see and touch; what made you think that the things that we cannot see e.g. the fuselage cap is not held in place by another set of tapes, or that the brakes don't have bandages in them or that some part of the electrical wirings are not carelessly taped as well or even left hanging, since no one is seeing them?

And some people are talking about the price of Naira? No bi person wey dey alive go benefit when Buhari & his team on technocrats eventually make $1 = N1? At least the last time I checked, they have not totally rescinded on that promise, like they have done on the promise to pay N5,000.00 to the unemployed every month.smiley

Have you ever been inside an air plane? The plane manufacturers would not put anything in a plane that would affect safety. If they did, it would welcome law suits. The tray is meant for putting food and drinks and can be put up easily when need be. The problem with the picture is easy to identify. Just like with everything in Nigeria, the airline has failed to maintain a simple tray compartment. A tray for God's sake. It's a wonder they can maintain the engine. What a country.

No one is arguing your point, just that we are in a very critical period in our economy and de-marketing is not the way to go..

The economy is that bad ohh.. so let's thread with caution.

I guess, it was the Airline that put the emergency door there, the manufacturer had no clue the door is going to be them.

If there is an emergency such that, you have enough time to unlatch and turn all the emergency door knobs, by the passenger with the assistance of the flight attendants, there will enough time for one of them to also latch this tray up, if it were open.

It appear that, the latch in this case is broken and can't keep the tray in place...even if that is true, they would have done it properly...believe me, in a true emergency that will necessitate theo use that door, those tapes will come flying out and will be a danger to the person sitting there and a further hindrance to anyone trying to open the door, all because the Airline decide to save a few bucks by not fixing the tray or even remove them.

The airline should have thought of their image before using tape to hold down anything in their aircraft. Instead of you to ask why, you are suggesting people keep quiet about it. Ok.

It's probably because the the tray may disturb movements close to the emergency door..

Those trays are obviously faulty. For those saying it's because of the emergency door undecidednonsense.
Didn't the manufacturer consider that before designing it that way. Abi una think say na Innoson make the plane? undecided
Same thing on my mind. As if they know aircraft safety more than the manufacturers.

Arik has to be one of worse airlines out there as international airlines go. Horrible experience last time I flew with them. Urgh!

This is Arik...I've flown on this aircraft before.

Whilst it is tacky, there is nothing wrong with putting a sign there...best thing to have done however would have been to remove the tray from behind the seat.

For most exit row seats, an in-seat tray is used and not the one at the back of the seat in front of you.

Then they should take it out or seal it
Owoloku1:
OP it's because of the emergency exits located behind the seats

If those trays are in use and there's an emergency they could impede movement

To be honest, taping it up like that comes with its own health and safety issues (especially if there aren't meant to be any trays on the exit seat). In case of emergency, the trays could come undone from the masking tape and cause more injuries and obstructions. Ridiculous if you ask me?!

you're crazy! you need to think right, not mediocre. what da hell an air plane is meant to portray standard and comfort. if it ain't OK to fly, then don't take to air. I will be OK to accept that if only it was announced that one would be offered this kind of comfort and service before I purchase the ticket.
for me it is totally unacceptable, cos the moment you accept this, the next thing masking tape would be on the engine. it is total rubbish!!!.

And that mentality is the reason you and so many Nigerians are living in bondage. The things you should question you let slide. Soon, after a while, you'll start to ask how and when did things get so bad. Suffer no good i swear. It destroys the way people think.

what are u guys saying? That the persanger that book that seat should put his snacks and drink on his lap or what? Let's assume its an international flight of 6hours or more? More over I can bet my penny on this craft, its not Arik. Arik will nt seal that tray so poorly. It may be Aero Contractors or Dana, lol. But seriously, Oyinbo wey place that seat beside that emergency door no stupid now. The tray is just a plastic that in emergency, one smash on it, it will break. So y are the airline sacrificing the perssanger's comfort on unnecessary safty mesure. Trust me, if it were me, I won't sit, infact I must see the captain. I will cause troble so tey my seat must be changed, or I swap with someone or that tray must come down wen I wanna dine. Simple as ABC

You should have censored the safety card in the seat pockets if you didnt want us to know it is Arik. Lol

But theres nothing unsafe about what they did. Its just not a good sight. I dont think it affects safety though

Don't you notice one of the trays is falling off?

It untidy and not safe.

Let me add to the bolded above..... THE WORST AND THE MOST EXPENSIVE NIGERIAN AIRLINE!!

Can't forget my experience with them from Lagos to Benin in Easter of 2012... after hours upon hours of delay, we finally boarded and took off. And they tell us that sorry, the snacks are finished; they only gave us a glass of orange juice or water & that was it, after the huge airfare we paid!!

Never had such experience on any other airline, both local and international!! I never fly ARIK unless I'm going to a destination where no other airline is readily available.

Bros, if you fly regularly, you will surely know, just like many commentators here, that this is Arik Air. In addition, Dana & Aero don't have aircraft that have inflight entertainment system which you see at the back of the seat, because their (Dana & Aero) aircraft are older, compared to Arik's which are a bit newer & more modern. I have flown on them all including First Nation, Medview & Discovery Air, so I know as so many others do.

Whoever introduced this topic, if u or others know anything about safety u won't fault the airline coz that sign is for peeps like u seated at exits and claiming u know the rules when actually u dont...maybe its coz of u it was boldly written that way who knows?..know the rules first...joor ooo
Re: What I Saw In An Airline Today. by HEIR: 10:19pm On Feb 28, 2016
These are old Boeing aircrafts, newer models have the trays fitted inside the arm rest for seats close to the emergency exits. It possess a serious safety hazard during emergency. Airlines abroad using such old planes also seal theirs too, albeit with better astestic appeal. Please don't be too hard on them.

The Manufacturer the placed those trays there are not stupid.
