Yesterday, the 2nd of March, I'd completed my exams and after a long wait I got what I consider the biggest shock I'd ever received in the history of examinations. JAMB released my results as thus; Use of English - 60, Maths - 58, Physics - 75 and Chemistry - 67 Aggregate:260

If I'm not certain about others, I can swear it that I would never score below 90% in any Maths exam. I've gotten so acquainted with Mathematics that it has become my life and almost my everything. I don't know how JAMB marking scheme is like but if common sense is anything to go by, each questions should carry 2 marks. I practised the past questions and the least score I'd ever gotten in any test within a time interval of 50 minutes was 45/50 and I'm even so sensitive to errors on the past questions that I could easily spot one at anytime. What I can't seem to figure my head around is how JAMB do come about with this dubious marking system. Why must I be punished for an unfounded suspicion? I protest this result and I challenge the organization called JAMB to summon me anywhere, anytime and I'll prove that this score I was awarded with is a scam. My target to score 320 or above that can't be relinquished in this manner without a protest.

It's always good for one to know his abilities and believe in them, even when the whole world are doubting your abilities.

I scored 288 during my time, but I always felt I deserved more.

During my days in the university, I once failed a course, it was a course many people in my class failed, but I was so sure I scored distinction in, the rule in my department then was that you don't challenge results once they are out, for so many reasons, one of them being that the lecturers will mark you as implying that they are incompetent and make your life in school miserable, and the second being that you are likely not going to see any improvement in your scores, as they( the department) are often meticulous and hardly make mistakes in result computing. So, not only will you put yourself in bad books of the lecturers for protesting against the results, you also stand the risk of being ridiculed and embarrassed, if they pull out your paper, and it turned out your score was actually your score.

But I was so sure of my abilities that I stood against all that and called for my script to be pulled out. Well, it turned out I scored 69 in the course.

Not really distinction, but very close. The department apologized and I was saved from the psychological trauma of re writing the course.

But OP, the problem with JAMB is that it is an external exam. Before your are through forcing them to rectify your result, the university admission window must have closed, so that this year JAMB even if it turned out you scored 96 in maths, won't be able to secure you admission again.

I would advise you forget about JAMB and put your focus on your post UME, 260 is still a good score.

Sorry.. I'm a graduate.. And have started my masters degree. The fact still remains.. Everyone has the right to have a target and be annoyed if it doesn't work as planned. I totally understand the OP.. What he did doesn't make him a proud person.. Infact I love what he did. We need people who doesn't settle for less in this country no matter how good it appears to be.

By HIS grace I took uniben postume & was admitted to study civil engineering.....and today, I am almost rounding up. You see, it's a matter of time before you realize you are still living in the past. The school is now becoming competitive and just so u know, don't be surprised that someone who scored 210 in jamb will top your class when you finally gain admission to uniport. Though, this has never happened in my class, I only want to tell you that we should thank God for where we are fortunate to be/have. Many read more than you but, jamb bleeped them up. Just be happy at all times, it helps. 260 in jamb is by far what is needed to study engineering last I checked..... God bless your jamb score bro.... the struggle continues....

If you're sure of your claim about your result, then sue Jamb. Jamb won't do anything if you simply contact them. Corruption is in every sector.

Although contacting them is very necessary because court may ask you if you complained to Jamb. You must print out your communication with them as evidence in Court of Jambs' inaction to prove you deserved your result.

The same here too jamb wrote 60% for me in my math but am very sure i scored nothin less than 80% because even the guys i did tutorial for scored 70% and 74% respectively and even the maths question was a revision for me because 90% of it was repeated qustions so therefore we have the right to protest since it is our future

I am disappointed with most of the initial responses on the first page, the Op has a valid grievance. Till tomorrow, i am yet to determine how jamb determine their scores, in particular a 50 equal marks questions exam is meant to churn only even scores,but that is not the case.

I think JAMB should introduce an option where applicants pay certain amount of money to request for remark, and candidates who actually score higher gets a refund.

You just sat for an exam plainly objective and magnanimosly chaired by technology. Yet, your self aggrandisement is fooling you pronosio.
Anyway, i believe you are a young chap and you might not know this. The mathematics that was set in that exam had so many possible and closely related answers. It is very possible you choose wrongly and erred by thinking it was the correct answer.
BTW, if there is anything to go by in your post, it would be the rediness you sowed into your exams, that is a good one, so thumbs up to you.

Be careful, do not challenge Jamb and please embbed yourself into more reading and sow more lugarbity of time into preparing for your post UTME exams.

Whatever score he had, if he feels he deserves more, there ought to be way to channel that grievance,and that should be the discourse.

Get it, Whatever has human intervention is subject to error . I didnt see where the young man boasted, it might have come across to you as a boast, he wrote that he typically scores avg of 45/50 in maths, which is a valid assessment of himself, so if all of a sudden it looks like a boast to you, check yourself ! His performance should be independent of others. what if with his 260 he fails to get admission, because of others with higher scores?
