i wish it was that easy, i save what i want at the beginning of the month only to draw into it towards the end of the month to meet an urgent need..no be small thing.

Whenever, my siblings or friends ask for my total earning , I sharply tell them its 30k.

In principle, the rule of marginality comes into play here.

The higher you earn, the higher will be ur ability to save with your spending increasing at a rate lesser than your increase in income.

However to be safe. I think anything from at least 20% and above is ok.

I make it a rule to save about 60% of my salary.

Not easy but I keep to it.

Staying away from instant gratification helps. Also removing ur monthly spending immediately into a separate account will help.

i earn a meagre 40k but im still able to save up to 30k. i spend only N200 daily and transportation. i still live with an uncle of mine, so feeding isnt also an issue. at the end of every year, i laff to the bank with 300k .

@valdes00 from your analysis it appears you are a well paid house help .Keep it up cos u might save up enough to buy an acre of land in your village.

I am a businessman n a student awaiting NYSC. I spend any how and save anyhow. No structure of earning and no defined structure of savings. All I know is that, I eat m, pay my bills and still hav something to fall back to in the bank.

I have no savings as at now, guess I need help on that, my little income is nt fixed o, #20k @min and #25k @max.... It barely scale me through 30days..... Pls hw can I improvise... Plus I need a beta job...

This is one problem i find difficult to solve till date. I do not have saving. I earn 46K and before d end of d month I am broke.

My cost of living is too darn high and my salary is just barely enough to maintain my lifestyle so at the end of the month, I save absolutely Zero Naira.

am an I.T student...earn 12k, save 6k every month n will gv 3k to my mum while d remaining 3k will b with me......saving z pweety cool cos it will help u in time of difficulty......tho feeding z nt my problem...

I save everything, survive with the transport bonus...


The coy is responsible for my feeding and shelter, when I am on time off I stay with my sweet mum, so no need to touch salary....

Its better to save before spending.. though its alittle difficult to do dat. A good way to achieve dat is to join a thrift and make monthly contributions whc would b deducted from source. You would get used to managing wats left and at d end of d year u would be shocked at hw much u would hv saved
