My ears were truly hearing things. Did Deji just call me his sister? I stepped back as though i wanted to fall, i however pulled myself togther. My next move surprised me. I slapped him.

"Please leave my house." I held the door for him to leave. " I'm done with you hurting me."

"Bimbola, you really should understand." He said, trying his best possible to stall me.

"Leave!!" I screamed my lungs out literally.

Closing the door after him, i sunk into the nearest seat, and did what i knew how to do best, i cried.

*********************************************************

My ringing cell phone brought me back to the world. I didnt know when sleep took over my depressed self. I answered the call and spoke into the phone. It was my mother.

"Hi mummy." I said, tears threathening to fall again.
"My darling." She answered back, i could feel the smile and excitement in her voice. "How are you?"

"fine ma."
I was trying my best to conceal my emotions from her, and i knew i was failing.

"Princess, is anything the matter?" She queried. "You sound sad."

"Its no problem ma. " I said with fake reassurance. " I'm just waking up."

"oh! I see." came her curt response as though she didnt believe me.

"We're yet to tell your father about the whole pregnancy saga." She sighed. "As a matter of fact, he called to tell me he had ordered the driver to drop your car for you there in akure. When you come home, we'll talk better." She said conclusively.

"Okay ma."

We said our goodbyes, and i dropped the call.

***********************************"********************

Sade came in and met me curled up on the sofa. She immediately sensed something wrong.

"Deji abi."

"I'm his sister." came my curt reply.

"oh my God." Sade exclamed, running towards me. She pulled me into her embrace. The tears were flowing freely now.

Just about then, someone knocked softly at our door. Sade went to get it, our guest came to me as a surprise.

"Femi!" I exclamed. "What are you doing here?"
Femi was my ex boyfriend whom i loved deeply. So deep was i in love with him that i never realised he was dating a close girlfriend of mine while in school.
The cat was let out of the bag when my overly possesive girlfriend called me at 3am one a fateful day and warned me to steer clear of her "Olufemi." Since then, it had been good riddance to bad nonsense. He however resorted to calling me since the beginning of service year.

Smiling, he reached out to pull me towards himself. "Abimbola." He was squarshing me already and i feared he will hurt me.

Releasing me, he smiled again. "How are you?"

"What brings you here?" was my only firm reply.

"Calm down babe." He was already strolling into the house."Do you badly hate me so?

"What are you here for?" I realised immediately i was still carrying a bruise from the past.

"well, your dad asked me to come with the driver to drop your car ." He was totally at ease now. "On a second thought, i asked the driver to stay back, and i drove here 'cause we have unresolved issues."

"Damn!" I cursed under my breath. I had totally forgoten that he was and still is my dad's favorite IT guy.

"Now tell me," He ordered. "What's this i hear about you getting pregnant?"

"What??" I screamed. My eyes bulging out of its socket.

"How on earth did you find out about the pregnancy?" My eyes strayed towards where sade had been standing all along, pleading to her for help.

Sade must have read the message in my eyes. She immediately grabbed a tray and a glass nearby. She filled the glass with water and glided towards our guest.

"So i'm meeting with the famous Femi today." She said attempting a joke.

"Hello. I'm not sure we've met." He was smiling now.

Damn that smile! I remember vividly it was that smile that swept me off my heels exactly five years back. That smile locked me in a cage of love for him while he was busy sleeping with a girlfriend.

"Damn that smile. " I cursed again.

"My name is Sade." I heard sade say, jolting me back to reality. "I'm bimbo's flatmate, and i've heard so much about you."

"Oh.." Came his very proud and egoistic response. "It's very good to meet with you." Still in his calm self, he continued. "I'm sure you'll give me an insight as to the happenings so far, especially about the pregnancy."

I had been silent all along. Silently seething you may call it.

"Femi, you've dropped the car now, and your efforts well appreciated." I said, interrupting his plans. "Please take your leave." I ordered..

"Bimbo. I promise you i won't leave you. " His response was so soft it warmed my heart. "I know i wronged you. Cheated on you. Made you feel less of a woman." He paused. "But i've also heard how much trouble you're into, and how much you need a shoulder."

He stood up from his initial position, dropped my car keys on the centre stool, and strode towards the door.

I couldnt help but stare at him as he made his moves towards me. My mind had started imagining so many sweet things with him and i was beginning to wonder if i was sane, or just hungry for love.

Moving towards my standing frame, he tilted my chin up and said softly.
"I'm offering you mine."
with that, he strode out of the house.

****CHAPTER SIX*****
I dropped down on the nearest couch with closed eyes, my thoughts reflecting on the happenings of the previous day. Deji had just Broken my heart, and here was Femi stealing his way back into my life again. I wondered what he was looking for on my front door.

"God help me!" I prayed silently within me.
"Bimbo." My flatmate nudged me slightly.
"Bimbo." I heard her call slightly from far off, where I was lost to the world.
"BIMBOLA.!" She screamed. Her scream bringing down the house.
"What's up?" I asked. My brows creasing into a frown. Here was I thinking about my life, and this flatmate of mine decided to choose that moment to intrude on my reverie .
"Any issue?"
Sade moved closer to where I was. I squirmed when she pulled me into a hug.
" What are you up to? " I forced myself out of her embrace. She tilted my face up to level with hers and smiled.

" I have a strong feeling that Femi's grandiose entry into your life will ease things. "

My face was filled with questions, but my heart was filled with hope.
I sucked in on my breath and held out hope for the future.

*******************************************************

“I have a proposal for you ma." Femi closed the gap between his legs and plastered a smug smile over his face.

Mrs Aladejinmi,Bimbola 's Mother stared at him with questioning eye. Different thoughts ravaged her mind, an she was damn sure Femi was loosing his mind.
"Go on, i'm listening." Bimbola 's mother responded. She was curious to hear about the proposal Femi was about to table before her.
His confidence level was over the roof now. He was bent on making every moment count.

"Abimbola is in a big mess ma." He blurted out, emphasizing on the big.

"The bunkroom responsible for her pregnancy is denying her the sweetness of being in love. "
He paused, looking into Bimbola 's Mother's eye as if searching for an opening to nurse her gradually breaking heart.

" He sees her like a sister. He just wants to own the pregnancy. Nothing else. "Everything gushed out within seconds.

Mrs Aladejinmi's eyes bulged out of their sockets, she was in a huge shock. She lost the voice to speak. When she eventually found it, tears were threatening to brew out of her lids.

" How do you know all these? " She asked calmly.

Femi adjusted on his seat." I have loyal friends in Akure whom I engaged to watch out for Abimbola." He stood up to adjust the CCTV camera he noticed wasn't in its place, and continued. "My very best friend who works with the bank of industry Gbade was the one who perfected the rough edge for me.

" So what is your proposal.? " Mrs Aladejinmi was doing everything within her power to keep her sanity. She wanted to place a call through to Abimbola, and ask her the truth.

" I want to marry Abimbola. I love her, and I have always being in love with her. After all that transpired between us back when she was in school, with he friend setting me up, she never allowed me back to her life. " He took a gulp of the cold water in front of him and continued." The only way I can reach out to her is for her to be joined to me in a fake marriage. There is still a tiny weeny sparkles of love she feels for me. I am sure." He concludes with certainty.

Abimbola's mother was at a total loss for words. She didn't have a response to all she just Heard. It was too much to process all at once.
She could only sigh.

This will make it the fifteenth time I had been pacing around the house. I was truly a mess. Everything seem to be misplaced and in disarray. This wasn't how I planned my life. To further deepen the case, I had gotten a call from Femi hinting me about a strange proposition he had tabled to my mother. Things were really messed up.

"Why didn't I insist on protection ehen?" My musings were for my ears only. "Now I'm causing issues for myself and my unborn children. For christ sake I'm about seven months gone, still, the mess gets bigger.”

I picked up my cell phone to place a call through to my mother. I badly needed to find out the sort of proposal Femi made to my mother.

"Hello.”
My mother's voice sounded sad at the other end. Very sad in fact.
"Hello ma. How are you today?" Bimbola was struggling with the tears that threaten to drop.
"Iwo omo yii." (You this child.) Mrs Aladejinmi shouted, emphasizing the last word.
"Se o in pa mi bayi?" (I hope you won't kill me.) Her sobs were audible through the phone.
"So you got pregnant for your "brother" and now you are not worthy to be his wife?" She was screaming now, enough to destroy the phone she placed on her ears.

"Femi told me everything. He did not spare a detail. I have asked a friend's driver in akure to bring you back home with your car today." She fired her instructions.

"Oju l'oro wa" (I need your physical presence)
she was calm now.
"We need an emergency course of action." I wondered deep within me what the emergency course of action will be.
" mumsy” I scratched my suddenly itchy nose.
"Please I need to sort out an urgent issue. Can you give me till Friday to come home?" I asked sweetly.
After managing skillfully to convince my mother, left the house to distract myself from the happenings around me.

********************************************************

"Drink up Abimbola." Gbade urged me sweetly.
"I noticed you haven't touched your food since we got here."

I had earlier put a call through to gbade immediately I left the house. Sade, Bimpe and Sekinat had gone on a Trip with a gang of our CDS boys to Erin Ijesa Water falls, leaving me out of their "Waka"

A dull ache was in my heart to talk to Deji. Another wants me to distract myself from my surroundings. Before ending the conversation with my mother, she had kept on mentioning a certain Gbade who made her see the light at the end of the tunnel.

"Ope l'ope Gbade l’ara mi.” (If not for Gbade)
"Aa ni ri idi otito nipa Deji Omo daada ni Gbade yii.(We won't have seen the truth about Deji.)

Those were the words she kept repeating. I wondered if she had met gbade, or if Gbade had met her,or if there was another Gbade.
Several thoughts spiraled through my mind. I was oblivious to the happenings around me including Gbade.

"Bimbo.".
Hearing my name jolted me back to reality.

"Y-Yes Gbade."
I had no idea he was speaking with me all the while.

"Did you just communicate with the baby?" He asked failing at an attempt to a feeble joke.

"Babies." I replied Softly. Gbade looked shocked, but took control of himself at the same time.

"Twins? "

I nooded.
" Jesus Christ." He placed both his palms across face and cursed.

"He still insists he doesn't want to be with you? "
I took a pick at a piece of gizzard on my place, and smiled sadly at him. " Yes. He Says I'm his sister. " Tears were threatening to pour now.

" I have accepted my fate. I just need to programme my mind towards a fresh start, and start planning towards the arrival of the babies. "
It suddenly dawned on me that I have not got any baby stuff..

" I have not got any baby stuff. "
I laughed out Loud. It sounded sad, but it was a good laugh.

As if on cue, the subject of our discussion appeared right beside our table. Deji.

I wasn't shocked. I was however both shocked and worried about the way he tails me about. He turns up at awkward places just to keep tabs on me.

Deji dramatically pulled the sun shade off his eyes, and made a feeble attempt to scare me.

"I warned you Abimbola."

He was really feeling cool with himself now. All through his "performance" myself and Gbade kept staring at him as though he was just a fictitious character.
"you just wouldn't listen." He continued as calmly as he started. " I guess you have found a very responsible Father for the babies."

He pulled a chair from the nearest table and joined ours.

"Let me however give you both a heads up. You have drawn a battle line between us. " He was towering above me now.
" Its important you know Abimbola Aladejinmi, that everywhere you step in Akure, I am Watching you. "

He gestured towards his eye with his ring and index finger, and pointed them at me.

As soon as he left the restaurant, I knew I wasn't safe in Akure.
Gbade didn't let me out of his sight for the rest of the day. When it was getting late into the night, Gbade had no choice than to let me go home as I was insistent.

I was feeling slight contractions, but it wasn't a constant thing. However, I had read about those types of contractions called braxton hicks,so I wasn't worried. Give or take I still had a Month plus to go. I just wanted to be alone with my thoughts.

Getting into my house at 8.05pm,i parked carefully into our compound, doing my best possible not to alert the neighbors of my presence.

I dragged myself slowly into my apartment. Sade, Bimpe, and Sekinat were still not back from their trip. There was no electricity at the time I got home, and I didn't bother with the lamp. I just wanted to enjoy my alone time. I crashed into my favourite couch, and made a mental list of things I wanted to do.

Suddenly I felt a metal around my neck, and then a familiar voice too.

"Where is Sade to save you?"
The voice burst into a weird Language I couldn't comprehend.

"Where is Sekinat with her big mouth?“ He screamed. "Stand up!!" You good for nothing w***e " I obeyed instantly without complaints.

It was Deji.
With a knife. I made the sign of the cross and muttered a quick prayer of protection. I wasn't scared anymore. I knew I was safe. Phcn decided on that minute to restore the light, then I saw his face with a wicked gleam plastered all over it. He tucked the knife safely in his Pocket, and gave me a blinding slap that sent me landing on the rug.

"I warned you while you had time didn't I? "
. He was pacing around the living room now.
" Abort the pregnancy. I don't want to have a baby. I am not ready. " He mused." You just wouldn't listen. You were so full of yourself. "

The slap earlier had made me bike my lips, and I could feel the taste of blood In my mouth.

" please. " I muttered under my breathe.
" I promise to take care of them myself without any help. "I void breathlessly.

" Oh no, you wouldn't. " Came his sharp retort.
" Before you even try to bring babies into my life, I personally will. Kill. You. " He chuckled

" No, Deji. Please"

I was crawling towards the door now.

"Please, Please " I pleaded with him passionately.
His leg stopped me at the door, where he delved a blow towards my lower abdomen. Another on my chest . Another on my face.
I felt blown till I lost consciousness.

‘Bimbo.”
‘Bimbola!’
I could hear the different voices of my friends from afar. I wanted to scream my response, but I was numb. It felt like something was holding me back. Then I drifted off again.

“What happened oo?’

This was Sade. From her tone of voice, she was going hysterics. This was a lost case. I was sprawled all over the floor, knocked out of consciousness. My friends didn’t know what went wrong. Whatever it is that happened won’t solve itself except I woke up from my place of unconsciousness.

‘Pour water na. ‘Sekinat instructed. ‘Don’t let her die ooo’

‘whish kin wahala be dis na.’ Bimpe was in tears now. ‘Bimbola wake up. For the babies’ sake please.’

I could feel the depths of her sobs deep down in my soul. I wanted to reach out to them but I couldn’t move my hands, yet i could hear them. My heart ached.

‘I’m sorry ma. We need to wheel her in for surgery immediately.’

This was the doctor speaking.

‘If we don’t do that fast, we will lose her and the baby. It’s been three hours since she was brought in here, and you insist we don’t touch her till you see her. It’s against professional ethics, but we honored your wish.’ He paused. ‘We are running out of time here.’

‘eeeee olorun ma je ki n s’ofo omo o’ (May God never let me lose my child).

Bimbola’s mum has been in tears since she heard the news of her daughter’s collapse. No one knew what happened and what to tell her when she kept asking.

“How long will the surgery take please?’ She pressed the doctor further.

‘it’s obvious she is in a coma.’ The doctor attempted a layman explanation to Bimbola's mother.

‘ We need to however be very careful in handling her, all we just want to do is bring out the babies, and work effectively to keep the mother alive.’

‘It’s okay. She will be alive to see them in Jesus name.’

The whole crew of friends I have never left me alone. Soon the whole General Hospital Akure ward was filled with my friends. Gbade, Femi, Sade, Sekinat and Bimpe. I still couldn’t reach out to anyone, but I could feel life returning to my veins.

‘Thank you for all of your help.’ Femi was thanking Gbade now. My eyes were opened, but their backs were against me, so they couldn’t have know I was awake. It was a quick brush with death. I couldn’t believe all I had been through the past fourty eight hours.
I kept using my hand to signal my presence back to planet earth.
Sekinat who chose that time to enter into the ward saw me gesticulating with my hands screamed in excitement.

‘Guys. She is awake.’

Gbade, Femi and my mum rushed down to my side.
‘Water.’ I croaked. ‘I want water.’

‘Don’t give her anything please.’ The doctor was in now. ‘Till we ascertain her state of health.’

The doctor went about his job skillfully, making sure I was really back to the world.

‘I just spoke with her dad now. The babies are fit surprisingly and once she is very healthy, they will all go home together.’ He was all smiles, and a dashing Young man.

‘I presume the father will now want to take a look at his children, at least his wife is back.’

Everyone was laughing. My mother kept going to the children’s ward to see the babies. She told me they were striking. She is very good with “mushiness” Femi too kept going every once in a while to check on them.

Sekinat, Sade and Bimpe all went together to get all the baby stuffs.
My small mummy and my aunty Yemi were preparing for my arrival back to Ibadan.

Deji must pay for his actions.

The story is just about to begin.

MidieMeliss:
*******CHAPTER ONE*******

"Tell me I'm being paranoid, but I have a feeling something's gonna go wrong for me this service year." I said
"What do you mean?" Odunayo, my very best friend asked. Both of us went to the same primary, secondary, and tertiary institution. We both planned to serve in the same state. However, fate chose that time to seperate us. Odunayo was posted to Lagos State, while I was posted to Ondo State.
"Look babe, you know me, I'm not going to tell you not to have bad thoughts towards yourself, but be careful what you wish for." Odunayo said, as forthrightly and honestly as she could.
"Okay, I hear you." I mumurred. "You're always taking everything seriosly. Can't you even say God forbid?"

I was getting annoyed, she only expressed her greatest fears to her bestfriend with the hope that she will have something positive to say. As usual, she took it to the extreme.
My mind strayed back to the day I left akure for ibadan. I was so unsettled throughout the journey. The words that kept going through my mind was "This is going the wrong way." I felt at first that it was because ondo state wasn't where I wanted, but when the thoughts kept on for a week, I knew something was definately going to go wrong. I could only ask God for grace.

Tuesday 9th April, 2013 came so fast. It felt like someone tampered with the calendar. I was due back to my station the following day to sign my payment voucher.
"What a day." I mumbled.
"Driver abeg drop me here." I said raising my voice a bit so the driver can hear me properly.
"Where? Road Block, or Chicken Republic?" The driver shouted.
"Chicken Republic."
The journey that was suppose to be four two hours thirty minutes had lasted approximately four hours. The bus had taken off five minutes after i got to the park as I was the final passengar needed to fill the bus. However, the bus had developed a minor complication shortly after take off. This led to my delayed arrival in Akure.

Sade my housemate was already waiting for me at the park. I got off the bus, and my friend sade helped me with my luggage down to the house. Sade had decorated the house, and it was looking so beautiful. I hoped and prayed that Service Year would really be worth it.
"Wetin you cook?" I asked, teasing Sade.
"Cook ke? I'm just about to go and fill the gas" Sade replied, then continued "Maybe we should go together, so we'll be able to get other stuffs in the market."
After settling down for a few minutes, I decided to stall my unpacking till the next day. For the time being, i was going to explore Akure and its full potentials of fine boys. I smiled inwardly at my very awkward plan.

The next day, I signed my PV and headed towards the mini flat i shared with my friend. Tiredness was written all over my face, all I wanted to do was sleep for five good hours at a stretch. I wasn't even noticing the events happening around me. I noticed a green primera parked along the road side, and a very fair and handome guy on the driver seat. I did a quick survey of myself. My khakis fitted me perfectly and showed off my well accentuated curves. My hair too spoke on its own. I knew i was looking good.

As i passed by the car, I swung my hips sexily, making sure that "Mr Fine Guy" saw every bit of my sexy body. I was a little bit dissapointed as the guy didn't even make a move as I passed. I was about getting to DPC junction along FUTA road, when I heard a car park by my side. Looking sideways, I saw it was "Mr Fine Guy."
"Hi, please don't turn me down, I just want to talk to you for a few minutes." He pleaded.
"Okay, just a few minutes." I said. I was very excited, he finally called to speak with me.
