I must commend the good job you are doing here. I actually stumbled on this forum today and for the first time and I had to take it from 1-14 at once due to my enthusiasm and love for poultry farming.

I am embarking on the business and hopefully by this month ending I will be stocking DOC poullet for a start then later go into broilers.

Talking from the points and experience that has been dished out here on this forum, it is obvious poultry is a herculean venture and highly sensitive as well.

Please, I am not a professional in this that is why I will strongly plea for advice, contributions and guide on housing, vaccines, feeding disease control and management for layers from professionals here.

@Goldenboy842 please I intend starting up with 500 poullets and this is the pen am putting up for them the other pen is for the proposed broilers.

Kindly share your observations and give further advice

I am into turkey business and I will put you through all what you will need to start rearing it from start to finish. To start, you need to get ready the brooder i.e where you house them. You prepare the place by washing it with detergent and disinfectant leave it for two days and make sure the place is totally dry. You will put wood shaving on the floor to avoid split legs because the floor will be slipery for their legs and their legs are so frigile. You also need coal pot, coal, flat tray for feeding and waterer for drinking. Next thing is to get day old turkey make sure you get good and healthy day old turkey. How to check and know good and healthy day old turkey: day old turkey must be thoroughly checked it must not be wet,the body must be dry and look floffy. The navel or belly buton must be totally healed with no lump and not wet. This will be find before vent where poop is coming coming out. I will try and upload pic to this effect.

They are now 4months old and doing fine, but the only challenged i overcame was the avian pox. Thanks to Pox Treat and Viramix.

you first make sure the coop or pen you are going to put them is washed with disinfectant and air dry before you bring them. You first give them vitamin which you put in their water in the first day it serve as anti stress. Second day, you will need to treat them with antibiotics + vitamins for five days and you also buy viral-mixx. You will mix it with their water together with the antibiotics. You can use keproceryl or any antibiotics that it name end with ceryl. The sixth day, you give them anticocci for three days you can use Embazin-Forte just for prevention. Do you know if they have been given fowl pox vaccine? they suppose to have been vaccinated between 5 to 6 weeks old and if not, you have to give them cos its deadly and contageous to birds in general.

My 6weeks Broiler is loosing weight and their droppings r greenish and brownish in color. Pls advice me on what to do.

Have you given anticoccodiosis?
At what interval do you change litter.

I change their wood shavings every seven dayz, they don't make noise at night but they do cough at times when eating.

My mum is trying her hands on 90 birds and I', helping her out..She seems to be having problems with them tho..

1) They're about 7 weeks now and some of them (5) haven't really developed as much as others..They don't eat much, they look skinny and don't weigh as much as others do..I feed them all with TOP FEEDS SUPER STARTER.

2) Some of them seem to be sneezing, though I've administered coftacin and one reddish drug that looks like zobo (Can't recall the name) but the sneezing persists...Some of them would isolate themselves and sleep a lot throughout the morning and then get bubbly in the afternoons. I've been watching them for a while now and these are the things I've noticed.

And may I add that they were bought at 4weeks old (A mistake I recently discovered)..Could it be that their vaccine wasn't enough is why they're being all sickly? Also, so far so good, we've lost two birds out of 90...

You advice would be greatly appreciated!

They have CRD chronic respiratory disease. Treat with Tylodox extra. I suspect the cause is management. Maintain a clean pen by changing the woodshaving when concentration of ammonia is high. Keep is loosed and dry. Also ensure the pen is well vented! If you treat without doing these, the treatment will like be short-lived or completely ineffective!

I hope you are not planning to sell to the market women? They won't buy higher than 900, you can only sell 2k if you decide to sell in the market by yourself now imagine the number of months you will spend in the market b4 exhausting 1500 birds

All the 1500 bird can't be uniformed expect 2.5kg mostly it only few that will attain 3kg I am talking from experience I don't rear my birds more than 6weeks
