justwise: Finally... I was able to make the visa fee payment of $542 using GTB MasterCard of a friend at a rate of N299/$1. I was told the daily limit for transaction with this particular card was $1000 (don't know if this applies to all GTB cards). UK embassy provided no helpful advice concerning my complaints in their response to my mail. Thanks. |

Good evening justwise Please I need your advice, I want to apply for a Postgraduate course in UK, I am having problem with the DOB on my passport. Though the dob on my passport is the correct date of birth, there was a mistake on my waec certificate in 2004, I spoke with the Sch owners then and they told me it was difficult to correct, so I adopted the dob on the waec cert. which I had to use for my bsc application then. Right now my WAEC cert. and Bsc transcript bears a different dob from my international passport. As I write this, I am in NIS Abuja trying to change the dob to correspond with the waec and transcript but the process has been really difficult after spending a lot of money, no headway yet. My question is, Can I apply for admission and UK visa using a passport that bears different DOB from other documents? If I write an affidavit explaining the issue will that help? Won't it be regarded as false information? I am running out of time. Thanks |

Hello Justwise and team. I have a challenge booking one-way flight to the UK. Wakanow is advising me to buy a return ticket since my passport only reflects the 1 month entry clearance given(the BRP reflecting the 18 months visa will usually be picked up on arrival in the UK). They said that airlines may not allow me to board if my travel document does not reflect that I have up to a year to stay in my destination country. Kindly share your thoughts and experiences please. Thanks I plan to use Ethiopian Airline. |

Bourne007:Exactly 29days. But I added my tax clearance certificate from 2012 to 2014 and my current employment contract as evidence that I have been earning money genuinely for 4 years, to clear any doubts on the mind of the ECO that the money flew into the account from nowhere (don't know if all this was necessary, just had to be on the safe side). I also did some little deposits and withdrawals to form activity for the last few days. In all, not all cases are same. Just convince the ECO that you are a genuine student, that you know what you are going to the UK for, that it will take you closer to your lawful ambitions and that you have money that is legitimately available and enough for your upkeep as prescribed. Clear his/her doubt by the answers you give at the interview and by the documents you submit. Thanks. |

To justwise and the team here; I was given a conditional offer in a school in UK which requires IELTS. But unfortunately i did not meet up with the IELTS cut off, but the school is ready to offer me a 10 weeks english pre-sessional course to cover up for around 1k pound. I want to know if i should go ahead with the pre-sessional course or to go and sit for another IELTS exam. Personally, im thinking of going for the pre-sessional course because it will shortened my stay in Nigeria. What do you think? |

Luggi007: Don't waste your £1000, get your IELTS in Nigeria before applying for visa. Asking you to pay £1000 for 2 months English language course is criminal. |

Hello Justwise, I applied for a Tier 4 visa and just got a refusal notice yesterday. The summary of the reason is as follows: 1. I'm expected to show evidence of £9135 for maintenance fees. 2. My sponsor (university) offered me a full scholarship for tuition and maintenance bursery of £6000 per annum. 3. According to the new UKVI rule, "... the maximum amount that can be deducted from maintenance fee requirement is £1265, even if I have paid more than £1265 for accommodation. Hence I must show I have £7870". 4. My mistake: I gave evidence of having just above £3135 (9135 - 6000) as my account balance in my application because: 5. I thought the above regulation (in 3) applied only to accommodation fees and not when maintenance bursary is being provided by the sponsor. 6. I have an option for an administrative review and have been advised (by someone) to pay in the remaining money into my account ASAP first. 7. I have informed my school but because of the Easter break will have to wait till Tuesday b4 anything is done about it. I have been going through the AR guidance & I have some questions. Questions: 1. I would like to ask your opinion about this matter and how you think I can present my case. 2. Since the money I would pay in will not be in the account up to 28 days b4 the review, do you think it will count against me? 3. Will the source of the money of such bulk payment be questioned? I would appreciate your reply. Apologies for the epistle. Thanks. |

Luggi007: why don't you look for schools that don't need ielts? and the good thing about uk schs you can apply to serval schs without application fee. Most of these schs that request for ielts just want you to go through an agent and they will waive the ielts |
