banmee:That is where they are getting it wrong, They use inappropriate words. Equal access/opportunity is what they should fight for. Not Equal gender. That we have equal access does not mean that we are equal. Take note |

All these female politicians & micro human rights activists seeking cheap popularity. Mrs woman leader, has being a woman hindered you from carrying out your political looting or has any particular law in Nigeria prohibited women from holding any particular post? I honestly don't understand what their yearnings are. If there were inhibiting laws in the constitution, you Mrs woman leader would have been led by a man. |

olaolaking:But that is exactly what the bill is about. If the word 'gender' is the problem,by all means use your own words! |

Chukzyfcb:if i haven't seen i won't be opposing any one. How many Nigerians knowns what's written in the constitution?, since the constitution is ur bestfriend and didn't stop women frm joining the military and taking up Jobs made for men jst because they have to run their homes. |

sparklebug:an applaud for you, most people think passing the bill will make the tables turn in the home, even the educated ones are afraid and would rather hide under the guise of tradition |
| Re: No Excuse For Dismissing Gender Equality Bill - PDP National Woman Leader's by Ifebazz(m): 9:05pm On Mar 18, 2016 |
sparklebug:You definitely need the education more. Tell where in Nigeria constitution that deprives wives of husbands' estate. Moreover, is a man's estate not supposed to be for their children? Or do you, Nigeria women have the intentions of killing your husbands on time in order to delve into their estates? It's really appalling to read lame arguments of the women who seek equal rights (as if it was denied ab initio). |
| Re: No Excuse For Dismissing Gender Equality Bill - PDP National Woman Leader's by Ifebazz(m): 9:17pm On Mar 18, 2016 |
banmee:Let any woman who have been denied her dreams and rights because she's a woman stand up. I can post thousands of Job placement advert that specifically request for ladies. I am yet to see one that says 'strictly for men', even the military recruitment. Nigeria women are just bunch of confused lot. Even the traditions does not force women to do things extraordinary, you can always opt out. |

Kath5kouture:Gender equality generally sends wrong information. So the term should not be used. Clamor for equal opportunity. Not Gender equality! The senate never disputed the fact that women should be allowed to be a senate president. But They will never accept gender equality because it is against reality |

banmee:Okay you want the whiteman style of a wife throwing the husband out of his house? For the early marriage, is it not perculiar to a set of bigotted people? More than one wife, were they coerced that is my question? If a lady doesn't feel comfortable being a second wife, I'm yet to see a Nigeria law that forces her to be. Instead, its the women who willingly plunge into such unions. I know of a lady that is seeking a rich man to marry her even at the cost of being a second or third wife. Is anybody forcing her to do it, no? What we don't realise in this country is that, we have fantastic laws, it's in the implementations we have challenges. Even if they succeed in their myopic pursuit, who will implement it? The Nigeria woman is not refined enough to want to revert sexual roles. When they go about looking for a man to bear theirs and their family burdens instead of developing themselves. |

herbie27:Very many women with better jobs that they don't even need but get all the same because they're opportuned to be married to an influencial man. Women don't fight against these kinda injustice. |
| Re: No Excuse For Dismissing Gender Equality Bill - PDP National Woman Leader's by banmee(m): 5:43am On Mar 19, 2016 |
Ifebazz:How convenient that you completely avoided the example of marriages with 13 year olds. Nice. The whole point of equality is to give women the same opportunities as men. Women are not a sub species of the human race. And the "white man" style as you put it is to protect women from mentalities such as yours. Where some men treat women like dirt just because they are bigger and stronger. In Nigeria, a man can just decide to bring in another woman into his home and kick his wife out and there's nothing anyone can do about it. How is that right or fair? Please come and do that shiiit over here and see if the courts won't take you to the cleaners. And just so you'd know, one of the main reasons the equality bill was put forth, is because of people who deprive teenagers of a future by forcibly marrying them. |

Come to think of it, would this gender equality allow ladies to pay for and marry a man of their choice and not be on the waiting list of any man? When a woman contested for Governorship in Taraba state, did she get 100% support and vote from the women, even taking the contest even to the courts? in the civil service, what is the ratio of women to men employed? why are they using rape and domestic violence to argue their case? even in America such crimes do happen, and won't stop because it's included in any gender equality bill. as for a husband sharing his property to his wife, what is the function of a Will? |

But am sorry ma! Nigerian Women are too frivolous, and their out compulsive desires when given positions scares the men a lot....the slight inequality found in our political system today, can be understood, when you trace it down to the Nigerian cultural heritage...... |

CookieBrown:I serve God who is in Heaven nd I believe in the bible,so if you serve a white man god, that is your biznexx. I gave my personal take on this matter and I still stand to it that WOMEN can never equal MEN. If pple sees things diff from you does not make dem hypocrites. The day you give equal right to a woman, then you will know the real woman she is. |

swimcash:Black man know yourself, you have no self dignity , no honour, infact you are lost. Obama is not black but of mixed race. Also your forefathers became a slave the same time they became a christian or muslim , these are facts !! Hard cold facts!! Women are physically at a disadvantage when compared to men , its a nature they never asked for , so why cant we give them the same rights as men? Who are we to say who is equal or not? What God were you talking about? The same one that said all men are equal in his eyes? I doubt you and the women you hate serve the same God. If u say women are less than men , then blacks are less than whites , afterall you dare not stand before a white woman and harrass her. |

CookieBrown:..lolzz, first of all, Obama is a Kenyan man n he's black get ur facts please, n secondly u said "forefathers became slaves immediately dey converted, n u claim u v core facts, can I see any? point of correction, I dnt hate women, I love n cherish dem wit everi being of me BT only statin d facts of wch many women also understand. presently, women has better opportunity Dan men in terms of employment opportunity. If gender equally bill was approved, am so such 95% of women in Nigeria wil abuse it. polygamous is allow in d old testament of d bible BT polyandry was Neva discussed. my sister, d bible Neva mk man n woman equally, d bible only stated DAT we r all equal in d eyes of GOD cos we r all is creation. d woman must b submissive 2 d man, we can't rewrite d bible |

swimcash:lolzz, first of all, Obama is a Kenyan man n he's black get ur facts please - I didn't bother reading the rest of your statement after reading this. Obama's father was Kenyan, black, and his mother white, all American, now tell us how that makes him a black man. Take a good look at Obama, does he look black to you? Really? I rephrase, does he look like you in any way? You can call out to your "god" mantra as much as you like but it will not change the fact that you can not stand before women like Remi Tinubu and utter such simple minded words like women are not equal to men. You hate women because you fear them, fact!!. Gender equality bill , god or no god, women will always find a way to get to the top, like it or not. I end this conversation with "Know your history", go and read about the great women of Africa who were both leaders and warriors. Today am fighting for women's equality, tomorrow i will fight for you as well because unlike you, i believe everyone should live free and equal in terms of human rights. |
