While it's not easy studying with kids around, it's possible to get visas for them. Kids start school at age 5. There are pre-school but they are not free, and they cost quite an amount. You wife just needs to be able to proof to the visa officer that she is not only emotionally capable to cope with her studies while taking care of her children, but also able to afford the cost of taking care of them as they won't be eligible for government's assistance.

Thanks for your prompt response. Any idea how much upkeep would cost for the four of them (wife and 3 kids) for a year? Excluding the kids school fees; I can google this up.

you might want to google it up as cost varies across towns and province. Using the town I live as an example, a 1 bed apartment would cost at least $850/month. I deliberately excluded basement apartment cos of the children. Feeding, bills, upkeep for a family of three would not be less than $500 dollar a month. daycare around ($750-$1000 per child). You don't pay school fees once your child starts school though (above 5yrs old).

Oh okay. Will I encounter any challenge securing a visa that would enable me visit them periodically? That's the plan, while we try out provincial nomination for residence permit.

Hello Good people,

Please is provincial nominee program the only way to get resident permit? My brother is a Canadian citizen. Can I apply for PR without going through PNP?
Re: Nigerian Students In Canada: How Do You Survive? by Omonjoe(m): 4:46pm On Mar 21, 2016
Yes.....Studying a Post gtaduate diploma course
OpeLovely:

So was it a post graduate diploma you studied instead or a master's degree in Canada? I have over 8 years work experience so i can always say that i have been working all these while.....with employment letters attached and references to boost my chances of having a PGD. I would have gone for either another Masters or Phd but they are too expensive and i have to be realistic with my financial expectations even though i have a sponsor.

Marketing communications is the area i want to study though. Because i see it as one of the "in-demand" jobs under the Canada NOC.....

So many things you can do: Talk to your brother. Go to the CIC website and get the information you need to immigrate legally-- cic.gc.ca. Check the Canadian immigration thread here on nairaland: https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled

I've gotten admission and trv. I'm traveling this weekend. My question is for those already studying in Canada. I thought that's what this thread is meant for.

what can I say that would make you believe, since am not a visa officer. Well know this, my own cousin got a study permit with his virgin passport to canada. Also on the thread i linked to, there are testimonies there to the fact by people i do not know. The truth is too big for a popularity contest, just because most folks perceive virgin passport as the reason why they are denied visa doesn't make it true.

Study permit is understandable and even NOW, they've been rejecting study permits based on No travel history

The visa will still be valid. Just change your DLI in your online application page if you applied online
